It would have been nice if we also got to see the same supporting characters from the past in this modern one. I already feel attached to them that I wanted to see them again, at least this time, free and happy.
I think out of all the tragic dramas I've watched, this is by far the most executed one excellently. Somewhat bittersweet, if you will. I'm not saying this because I know there's a sequel, but this drama alone is just perfect despite its ending. This is why, also, it's always a good idea to let the original author be the screenwriter as well. So that whatever they wanted to convey through their novel will eventually be transcribed in the drama itself ~
And oh, ofc, having the perfect main leads is definitely a plus obviously. I learned the author/screenwriter chose the actor/actress herself? Well, idk if this is indeed is true, but it was definitely the best thing to choose both Bai Lu and Allen Ren. No one can ever embody Shi Yi and Sheng Chen but them.
I finally finished the last eps I've been putting off. Now I can cry my heart out ಥ﹏ಥ and can finally move…
First, Zhou Sheng Chen never deserves that... no one does. This may never have been mentioned a lot, but aside from being a good person, he was such a great leader ~ he is indeed a rare beautiful bone.
Crown Prince. He is a coward. Without Jin Rong's aid, he can never usurp to the throne. I thought he would be this gutsy-type villain but turns out Jin Rong is. This cowardness of his is what led to the main leads' tragedy. Guess the only thing he's sincere about is truly liking/loving Shi Yi, but even that turned out to be nothing but disaster.
Yang Shao. I really find his character interesting. He's a complex one. Even though he never clearly vowed his loyalty to anyone but he knows how to pay what he owed. He even cried for Sheng Chen. And the way he understood Shi Yi's intention of jumping off from that gate and seeing her off, I give my respect to him.
Shi Yi. Well, what can I say, I cried with her every time she does. All she wanted was to be with her Master.
Anyways, kudos to the cast for such a wonderful drama ~!

But before that, let me just get some things off my chest...
Yeah according to their interview, Allen said that the modern Sheng Chen is gonna be as tragic as, if not more…
Yeah. But I think they'll stay true to the novel... since the screenwriter is the novel author herself. So in regards to whether we have a HE or not, I think it would definitely be the former ~ I don't think she'll actually change the ending everyone knows ^^ ~
So based on the new trailer and from Allen Ren himself, Sheng Chen is gonna be crying more here than Shi Yi... haha.. to be fair with Shi Yi who's had lots of crying scenes in OaO.

Or maybe you can find someone post this same trailer on Twitter.
