Say, I was just wondering how women like/love male-to-male romance/relationship and I'm pretty sure most of the authors are females as well. Side note I'm a guy, I won't say I used to be straight but I already knew from the start that I liked guys tho I happened to fall in love with girls in elementary and highschool, so yeah I'm pretty much confused as to what that means, I thought I only liked guys *sobs*. Tho in a sense that not I'm effeminate, I act normally just like straight guys do. I might be bisexual but honestly I don't feel like labeling myself. And since I have developed fictophilia, meaning I'm pretty much into fictional characters but NOT in a romantic way. I just adore them from afar just by reading AND IT'S ALL ABOUT SHIPS SUCH AS GUHAI AND BAI LOU YIN, GUFEI AND JIANG CHENG AND OUR BOIS OFC JIANG TIAN AND SHENG WANG. Alright back to it. I'm just really curious as to how you guys somehow enjoy it? Overall, I wanted to know your thoughts about it , please let me know.
Also the Chinese people didn't like the adaptation at all. They hate it so much that in Douban it's only rated 4.7 of 12k users. If you could translate the comments it's nasty and full of ridicule. Mind you it's never available in China so they absolutely used VPNs just to be critics.
I'm really interested to listen to the audio drama since it's completed. But sadly you need $30 to subscribe to access all seasons. And I don't even know if they have English sub ðŸ˜
The director follows the novel very much, most of the important plot there is. Tho he did some changes and improvised some parts of the adaptation but still clearly followed the source material. I'm curious as well how will he end season 2 as I was not really satisfied with the ending, it was indeed a happy ending tho.
Again, why is Eric too powdered on that Wave magazine interview? He just looks so natural with light makeup on. I really thought he just arrived at the interview/photoshoot after taping some historical drama 😠It didn't matched Ben's light makeup. I'm really curious what's going on with Eric's assigned makeup artist ðŸ˜
I've also seen the rants on Douban omg I can't handle them. Some said Benjamin isn't handsome? The rating was 4.7 stars of almost 12k people. This people are ridiculous 😠I was wondering how the hell they even had the guts to use VPN just to watch and straight up ridicule the adaptation. Anyways, I'm glad they did not air in China they were feral as hell. They weren't really accepting the adaptation which is just sad. It was beautiful and well-made.
I'm really grateful for that X account I stumbled upon, who shared this masterpiece and for my X algorithm as well lol. If it wasn't for those I wouldn't feel this bliss at all. I sure did got lucky it appeared on my feed.
The point is it's an adaptation. The source material was slow and steady in that department yet. Not until the…
Thanks too. Yeah Musuli is Chinese, the author and mainly because I knew Mou Mou is a danmei. Now it make sense. The material source was actually set in Nanjing, China. The director said that himself. I've just read this infos from reddit, someone did Gods work and translated the directors guesting on podcast. It was a good read but I lost the link. I'll try to find it perhaps you're interested as well.
why does this seem low-key censored, I know they kissed so it's not really censored, but they kissed way before…
The point is it's an adaptation. The source material was slow and steady in that department yet. Not until the last part of book 3. The kissing scene you mentioned was just four lips touching. It wasn't even part of the novel. Perhaps the director just wanted to ease the tension between the characters involved. Technically it's not entirely Taiwanese as the director said the IP is from China which is I have no idea about as well (what IP does even mean) and the funding comes from Hong Kong, the only Taiwanese part is the setting they are in, which is in Taiwan.
I've asked chatgpt about types of romances and this one belongs to a lot of them.
Contemporary Romance: Set in modern-day settings, dealing with realistic relationships and life challenges.
Slow Burn Romance: Characterized by a gradual buildup of romantic tension, where the relationship develops slowly over time.
Enemies-to-Lovers: Features characters who start out disliking each other but eventually fall in love as they overcome their differences.
Forbidden Love: Focuses on relationships that face external obstacles, such as societal norms, family disapproval, or circumstances that make the romance difficult or taboo.
Second-Chance Romance: Involves characters who were once together but are reunited later, rekindling their relationship after personal growth or changing circumstances.
LGBTQ+ Romance:
Romance stories that center around relationships involving LGBTQ+ characters, often addressing unique social, emotional, or personal struggles. (Tho only the male to male part of the LGBTQ characters)
It's been days since EP 12 and I'm still grieving here. For some reason, I spaced out a lot recently. And I just felt something hurts deep in my heart lol it's lame asf ðŸ˜
The On1y One director Kuang-Hui Liu Podcast Interview translated highlights: SEASON 2 THINGS: https://www.reddit.com/r/boyslove/comments/1fqiroe/the_on1y_one_director_kuanghui_liu_podcast/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Thanks for sharing. Much appreciated. I really wanted to know all of that. Very interesting insights. And knowing Director Patrick isn't really familiar with BL industry. It was very informative.
When I say I intentionally hurt myself just by listening to Love Proverbs, 17 Run To You, Just Lonely, Interlude and Rainbow Love I mean it 😠Their ost are all for keeps it keeps you thinking about them.
My routine lately, checks MDL, watch edits of Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian on Insta and YouTube shorts, rereading the novel, checks X for updates about them. The cycle goes on.
I found it 😄
