I think I have to watch all of this screenwriter's works. Her other movie "Tremble All You Want" had the most relatable female lead ever, and this movie was no exception.
This was so painfully real, don't we all have that voice in our head that acts as the voice of reason, that voice that protects us and safeguards us, that voice that constantly affirms us. I related to the FL so much; her desire to step out of her comfort zone and love, her anxiety, her loneliness, the moments when she felt low, and the little things she got excited about - all that made up her. Non owned this movie with her fantastic performance. I highly recommend this charming and quirky movie for everyone!
It's time we do away with the term "normal" because what is it anyway; a way for us to judge, evaluate and scrutinize other people's behaviour & make life complicated? "I'm tired of normal." Quirky, yet real and comforting. A simple movie with a deep message. Do give this gem a try :)
That's really rude. These people who are subbing it are fan subbers & they're using their free time to sub it for all of us, without any pay. It takes hours of effort to sub and time the subs to the video. These people have their own life & their commitments to attend to, unlike subbers for the other Asian dramas who do it as a job & are paid for it.
We should be thankful that they are doing us this service and making the subs available to us. A little patience and kindness goes a long way. It's because of comments like these that many people don't sub as many J dramas & movies anymore.
This was such a waste of my time. Nothing really happened in this movie, not until the last 15 mins or so. It was painfully slow & had some problematic elements that did not add/contribute to the story at all. Given the genre, I expected more thrill & intensity. Most importantly, the film didn't answer the basic question of why she was being stalked & harrassed by the doctor (whose face we never ever get to see). Best thing about it was the street shots of Tokyo at night; gorgeous cinematography there. The score was cool too.
Don't bother with this one unless you have nothing better to watch.
This is why I've stopped looking at ratings on this site, especially for Japanese content. This was probably one of Koreeda's best works. A 10/10 movie in every aspect. A thought-provoking & beautiful movie that questions what it means to be alive in such a simple yet poignant way. Bae Doona really brought this to life with her fantastic acting. The writing & cinematography were also top notch. A masterpiece indeed. This is one of those movies that will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommended for a mature audience that can handle something deep & philosophical.
