Don't worry, you didn't spoil it for me. I enjoy reading other people's perspectives but I always believe in watching and forming my opinion :) BTW have you watched this drama yet? I didn't like it HAHA
If they were going to separate by the end of the drama, I would be perfectly ok with his reaction. But because it is a romance drama, I cannot accept the fact that he rejoiced over the fact that she might die. Infusing humour here does not work. Are you trying to say that his reaction over her death is ok because it is unique and hilarious? If anybody expresses relief and joy over my death, I would never want to talk to them anymore because that would mean they never loved me. I cannot accept someone having that thought even for a second. And I am pretty sure majority of viewers who watched this drama would not be able to accept it either. Of course if you say that it's ok, then I have nothing to say any further but commonly, people don't wish death even upon their enemies. Here she is his wife. No matter how much he is going to eventually regret it, I cannot accept it. That is just bad writing in my opinion. It is unique but not in a good way, and the writer should not have gone for that angle because it left a bad taste. I don't think anyone would be able to convince me otherwise. Again, if they were gonna go for a toxic relationship / vibe, that would be ok but because they're obviously gonna redeem him into some nice guy who loves her that doesn't sit well with me.
Regarding point 2 - I guess you didn't get my point. It's ok. I am just going to say that my opinion is the exact opposite. Their carefulness, formality and awkwardness makes them look like a couple who has never been in love before. I work with couples on the verge of a divorce day in and day out so I've seen varieties of couples who are distant. No matter how distant, there is a sense that you knew this person once upon a time but in their case I don't see it at all. I am not saying I'm an expert, but that's just the way I see it. That familiarity is missing for both of them. The focus is not on making them fall in love. It is on them realising that they never stopped loving each other, and both these two are different.
If a drama can't hook me in 5 hours+ then clearly it's not for me. And I am not saying it's bad. I just didn't enjoy it.

It's not about the sleeping in different rooms. It's like they've never slept together before or never been in love. A married couple that grows distant over time are indifferent towards each other, not awkward. The leads are awkward like they don't know anything about each other. I blame the direction for this.

Here are my 2 cents -
He didn't believe her in the first episode but in the second, he went to the doctor with her. So the believablity is not the problem. Picture it like this - let's say someone you dislike is dying. No matter how much you hate them, you would empathise and probably wish them well. Here, she is his wife. No matter how bad the relationship, the fact that he felt happy about it and saw it as an outlet to get rid of her was a very very bad move by the writer. No matter how much the writer will probably try to redeem him later on with him realising he loves her and doesn't want her to die, this is like a stain that can't be removed. Her illness should have been used in a way for him to be shocked, for him to feel that he wants to be rid of her but he doesn't want her to die. That is the kind of confusion the writer should have gone for, rather than swing both extremes at the same time with him feeling sad when she said she is going to try and live while also showing him fawning over beauty or getting jealous of her involvement with her ex). The writing was just extremely inconsistent and bad.
I really wanted to like it because everything else is generally fine but this is 1 of the 2 things I can't gloss over. Second, is the body language between them. They clearly don't look like a couple that was once in love, and is now distant (which I have explained in a spoiler comment above).

I can list dramas that are actually black comedies, and this is not it. We can agree to disagree on this. And second, regardless of the genre - his insensitive and inhumane reaction after finding out that she might not live long does not sit well with me especially since they're going to be endgame. I am happy you enjoyed it, but I did not and had to drop it after 4 episodes.

I wanted to like this but 4 episodes in, I think I am going to drop it. I have seen all the dramas written by Park Ji Eun and this, in my opinion, is her weakest purely based on the first 4 episodes.
The biggest issues that are making it hard for me to continue this - (1) If you're making a romance drama centering around a couple reconciling, then you shouldn't have the ML rejoice over his wife dying. How is one supposed to root for him in this case? No matter how stifled he felt, he is not a kid who doesn't understand the meaning of death. He showed empathy towards the dog who the evil guy was trying to kill, but has zero empathy for a woman he once loved? And the worst, the writing makes his reaction comical?! Also, on one hand he is swooning over her, feeling jealous over her ex, and scared when he can't find her, and on the other hand he is unhappy that she may survive?! That is very inconsistent and messy writing. No matter how much the writer redeems him later on, this is a point that should not be glossed over. Also this is a very minor point - but why the cliched childhood angle...
(2) For a couple that was once in love, their body language appears very awkward, rather than distant. They constantly tiptoe around each other and appear too formal. I don't blame the actors though, it's probably the direction they were given. While yes distance does make it difficult to communicate, they were very much in love once. So the shift to becoming distant is not awkwardness, rather it is indifference, where both mind their own business, do their own thing and have cordial conversations as and when needed. But both of them appear more like two people who're falling in love for the first time and the writer tells us they know each other based on the flashbacks, rather than actually show us that. They get startled by a touch like they've never touched before. So what if they kiss or have sex? They're married and even if they've grown distant, there's nothing wrong with it. For eg. when he thought she looked pretty and questioned himself, it sounded more like he felt it for the first time, rather than he's felt it before and is muling over how he stopped seeing how beautiful she's always been. Same with her. It's these little details that make the difference. Unfortunately the writing is not meticulous. And this is not a problem with this drama only, a lot of reconciliation dramas have the same issue trying to make the couple fall in love when the focus should be on realising they've always been in love and exploring how they can shift the dynamic and try to navigate the relationship differently.
(3) The evil guy is hovering around her too much for my liking . Given that she mentioned during their first meeting that he overstepped and that's why she had to cut him off years back, you'd expect her to be more cautious around him.. I get that they're working on a deal together. But it's like he's in almost every 2nd scene with her and I feel like he's taking up too much screen time for my liking. I get that they're probably using him to stir up the ML's jealousy but couldn't the writer have come up with a better idea? Using third parties to create problems is so ol d school. Why not focus on the leads and their issues. Her impending death could have been the golden idea to making him realise he's gonna miss her. He doesn't want to stay with her but that does not mean he wants her gone from the world. Instead of that, they turned it into comedy and are going back to relying on a love triangle?! SIGHHHHHHHH
(4) A little more explanation on her condition would be good. 4 episodes in, nothing but the confusion that is pretty imagery and seems to be used for him to save her like a hero.. having a tumor is a big deal (and this is coming from someone who's had one). Her routine, lifestyle, and health remains unchanged. She definitely does not look like someone who is going to die in 3 months (also why do dramas always have doctors give such specific deadlines- i have met countless specialists and no one ever tells you the exact time left for you to die)
Maybe I'm being nitpicky... I guess this is not for me. I really wanted to like it.

I watch a lot of black comedies and I absolutely dig dark humour. But this drama is not a black comedy. Just because there is some comedy and the roles are reversed, that doesn't make it a black comedy. This is an out and out melodrama. I guess we can agree to disagree on this.
