Think Ji Shi get triggered everytime Ji Ling died so in each timeline JL died so LWY choose to keep repeating the time. While on this current timeline due to feeling loneliness which for JL he probably dying inside knowing even LWY left him hence somehow he could tapped in and have glimpses to previous timeline which ended up he's losing power, going crazy then died making LWY suffered in the end which triggered Ji Shi to let her rewind the timeline to save him.

Some theory says the loop happen in 3 days period so anything could happen in that time span based on what LWY path choose

So Ji Ling the puppet no longer being the most pitiful VOS character since LWY take the crown 👑

Idk about charismatic part but TJR really pulled it off that dumbness and innocent part when act as Ji Ling. Dont think more charismatic actor could or would playing dumb character like Ji Ling.

Did anyone remember LWY said formless fox sect immortal as long as part of them still remain somewhere so they could reborn. Maybe she really put her part on that doll for the precaution if something happens to her.
