Oh man, I make a point of not watching most kdramas because of the same exact reason. They all seem so cookie cutter perfect that it's annoying and boring. Thai BLs are a sort of different beast altogether but you're right, the plot in most of them is non existent :( I have been watching mostly Japanese, with occasional Chinese series for the better part of 2025 and not regretting my move towards better pastures. I wish I could like boring shows like kdramas and such but I don't. Have you seen Alice in Borderland? It's not a BL but imo it's quite good. As far as JBL goes, recently I rewatched one of my all time faves, Utsukushii Kare (s1, s2, movie). I also watched a few more titles, new ones and old. So far I like 40 Made ni Shitai 10 no Koto from the ones airing. Someone on the drama's page said it's heteronormative though. I asked them to elaborate on that but they didn't reply yet. I am also watching Ameagari no Bokura ni Tsuite, but I'm not enjoying it as much.

I struggled with season 2... started it in 2024 during airing time afaik and finished it only last week. Granted, so much happened since then, but if I truly liked this drama, I wouldn't have taken over a year to finish it. Even so, I refused to score it less than an 8. /shrugs

As for TsukuTabe, I gave it quite high scores but it was sort of a snooze fest. Nothing much happened but the food was delicious and the atmosphere pleasant. They had only a fish kiss at the last episode of season 2. Really disappointing if you ask me.
Gave only a 7.5 to the first season so my anticipation for season 2 is mild at best. Even so, I do tend to watch Japanese BLs the most out of all countries so I might see this one if I got nothing else.

so I read your comment and dropped this movie. I rarely drop movies and I liked the aesthetic of the first 15 mins of it. but if it has a rape scene I'd rather pass than be traumatized thanks for writing this comment, very helpful
