I took that from an online news. After your reply, I checked my Douban list, and it's not the second, but the third, so I edited my comment. The ranking is for costume dramas between 2020 and 2022 so far. There's a huge difference between chinese ratings and MDL ratings (only Word of Honor and The wind blows from Longxi are the same). In my "spoiler" below, the MDL rating is first, and Douban is second, for the top costume dramas here in MDL 2020 to 2022.

Completely agree that one of the main differences is the masculinity of the ML and also the wide range of emotions he showed throughout the drama. Now that I think of it, the bland personality of many ML in costume dramas have usually disappointed me. I think the last masculine ML I saw, was Xu Kai in Ancient Love Poetry.

It's very abrupt but happy, Many people didn't like the abruptness and so they released a video with scenes from the drama, with a voice-over by the ML explaining how happy they continue to be. I read that the producer wanted a compact story. A lot of foreshadowing was one thing that hooked the audience, and the scriptwriter continued until the end: Orchid nurtured DFQC coming back under the crown she made for their wedding, implying they'll get married.

LBFAD is the 4th highest rated in Douban for costume dramas in the last 3 years:

It's me who fails to understand your point. All of this thread are replies to the first comment about the writers not being good enough and not if the actors won more or less awards. And I answered that this drama won all of the writers awards. Then you said that the awards were mostly for the actors and not writers or execution. I was still assuming that you were following the thread of replies to the first comment about writers, so I added the awards for writing and execution. But it seems that you're still arguing about the actors awards, which nobody have mentioned except you. If you wanted to mention that the actors won more awards in total, you should have made it a separate comment. But I wouldn't recommend it, because the number of awards given for acting is bigger than for other categories (there are no 'best male writer', 'best female writer', best 'couple directors', etc), therefore it's meaningless as evidence of 'acting' in a drama being better than the 'writing' of that drama just because it got more awards.
