One one hand I like that they're not lingering too long on each plot point/issue, but I wish they would slow down some so it's not so quick between Character X tries to win against our leads, they handle it, we move on. Still, having a great time watching! The two newest eps were so fun!

The wedding!!!!!! I'm so emo, usually the girl never really gets to see her family (either because her mom is dead and her dad sucks or w/e) but he brought her dad and brother!! and we got to see multiple bows!!!)

They weren’t married super long, maybe a couple years? SXH going to the capital is three years after GZQ died. No she didn’t love him at all. She is loyal to her family (and now SXH’s family). The show hasn’t said yet but in the novel it was power politics stuff like always and her family got caught up in it. GZQ, princess ding and others like them were all forced to marry the princes “for their safety” or they would have died too.

The group chat between Jin Shan, mu yao/yuan siblings (I assume they’re siblings), Zheng shen and tian yuan must be popping 😂😂

The Gu family and another one were fighting, probably related to the Emperor in some way because it always is. So when her entire family died, she was the only survivor and Xin begged the Emperor to let them marry but she never loved him. By committing suicide and making it look like the other family did it, that family was also wiped out so she got her revenge. But she woke up in SXH’s body with both sets of memories. Xin actually did love her (in an obsessive way) so he has realized something is up with SXH because she acts like GZQ did.

They can't truly imply anything due to censorship which is why (after this ep) things change for them, but in the novel he thinks BSL is a man until it's revealed to him (from my understanding of the summaries in the discussion posts). The show took that core element and adjusted it so it could be shown on screen.

QJZ's soul wakes up in SXH's body, but she holds both sets of memories it seems.

just watched the first five episodes and had a great time! Based on the discussion posts and how much was happening in the webnovel, they seem to have (so far) done a good job skipping ahead as needed but with flashbacks/dialogue to help the viewer along (without it entirely being dialogue loredumps).

BSL is a fun character, curious how that'll play out here vs the novel, and I'm loving the incense plotline. Apparently in the novel a lot were based on real life ones so that's cool.

What a fun show, definitely requires paying attention, with twists coming in every direction. Wish there was more with everyone!

I know the romance at the end felt a little lackluster even though they clearly love one another, but overall I really enjoyed this show! It's so rare to see a historical drama treat any kind of disability nevermind mental AND physical at the same time, appropriately or with respect. It was so refreshing that no one made fun of ye li for being traumatized or having hallucinations and though MXY of course faced ridicule due to the plot by the bad guys, for the context and the time available, his healing and learning to walk again was well done. I also loved the focus on accessibility in his home and when he would go places, I don't think I've seen a ramp before! If you're looking for something a little more understated and slice of life this is a great show for you.

I had a lot of fun with this, though I think two more episodes would have resolved some of the issues with pacing and choppy cuts to new scenes, but for adapting something so long with so many factions, I think it did a good job! Of course would have loved more XYL because duh, but if you want something quick, engaging, entertaining, with super satisfying revenge payoff, this is a great show for you. Also LOVED the trio of sister, uncle, nephew, that child actor has a long career ahead of him!
