Ooh so I guess they are keeping one of the concubines interesting. I wonder if they'll do the whole pregnancies at the same time, becuase in the novel she gets pregnant from one night and he never looks at her again because he's a dummy who still thinks Yake is worth it, even though she sells those books in the novel too and it makes him really mad.
In the novel Yu Son is given three different concubines, first by his mom because Yake isn't getting pregnant, then Concubine Wu DOES get pregnant, loses the baby (legit an accident), Yake who is pregnant at the same time gives birth to a very sickly girl (ultimately doesn't make it). Conubine N whose name I forgot and leaves because she refuses to deal with the family drama from his third uncle's wife, and Conubine Fei from his first uncle's wife. Ultimately there's this whole mess with some girl he's trying to help out (and of course ends up getting pregnant).
His dad is exiled because of his nefarious deeds, his mom dies from the grief, he doesn't get executed but gets demoted to a commonor, and he's left with Yake who becomes bedridden, Fei who sticks around and gets none of the glory for raising the kids who end up happening, and they are miserable.
It doesn't look like any of the concubines are in this list so it could be that her maid is promoted to being a concubine.
Okay everyone please take a deep breath, unless they decide to be SUPER BAD AT WRITING, they'll be reunited!! the book and show are super different, the salt investigation isn't even in the novel, and 16th master wasn't sent for an investigation, instead he's a vassal prince and down the line there's a rebellion and he becomes emperor, so everything now is going to be very different. but in the book they have to spend a lot of time cementing her identity since people start finding out very quickly she's from the fu family, there's a TON of drama with her dad and brother because both of them, and her uncle all refuse to do anything to help her, so it's already different that we have Zuo bro's confession (in the novel they have to torture him to get it)

in the novel they were always on the same page and then things start falling apart because in the novel she wasn't around for everything that happened with FTY (her and Yake aren't even friends, the book starts with her at the nunnery already so the show is SUPER different) so then once she realized just how bad her son's ideas were she kept trying to save him/the family but it was never going to work. i like here how everyone's more complex.
