It’s kinda two different stories now

Would people be interested in a brief summary of the novel (I can put in a discussion post)

Okay I wrote it but I have to format it and double check chapter numbers so I’ll post it tonight or tomorrow when I have a computer. Doing it on my phone was a mistake 😂😂

I get you! I think both the novel author and scriptwriter focused more on everyone else because ultimately grandma suffers by losing the best member of the family and not actually getting any of the accolades she wanted.

Not sure how the rest will play out but in the books too a lot of it is the best revenge is a life lived well.

Dad is exiled and dies, mom dies, he was demoted to live as a commonor and stuck with fan yake who ends up on bedrest kind of forever, a concubine who takes care of the kids that do ultimately happen (fyk has trouble getting pregnant and once she does it's a sickly daughter who dies), and miserable forever because he helped a woman who was plotting and had her own betrothed assassinated, it's a whole thing)

is the ending/script somewhere?

she dies in the novel too, FTY isn't a person who wants revenge for revenge's sake, there's enough people she has to deal with.

The book and novel are super different so the show isn't following it chapter by chapter or anything.

In the novel ZL isn’t really in it as much once he’s doing military stuff (tho he comes back a lot) so I like how they’ve changed it here with him being around the capital. Super curious if near the end 16th master will become emperor 👀

The only character I kinda wish was in the story is Sanniang's kiddo, she had just had a baby a few months ago when she comes across FTY/ZL and FTY feeds her, her son and their first baby grow up together kinda sorta and ZL is great with all the kids, lol. (tho I'm obvs glad they don't have a random small toddler on set all the time but hopefully they'll give us a glimpse of that too later)

How far are you? Because Yake and Yu son are married, and ZL has not stayed over any night except once and was in a separate room.

That was Madame Yan's storehouse which means they probably won't be available for her daughter's dowries :/

The show is completely different from the novel now, for example the novel begins with her in the nunnery and the salt investigation is not even a part of the story. 16th master also wasn't sent to do the investigation, so you won't be able to read it from a certain chapter :/

But the dog attack portion is in the novel in chapter 90!

Finally watching episode 14 and whew!!!!! We love one man! I like that we get to see what happens to LDH, in the novel he gets uhhh attacked by dogs the same way and then later ZL rides like 1000 li to take him out then go back LOL. This ending for him is much more satisfying on screen.
