We get our first kiss in this episode! Very sweet and innocent, but I hope we will get a hot one soon. It’s delightful to watch Jin’an and the General fall in love.

This was another filler episode, but it was nice to see Jin’an take care of the General so diligently during their vacation retreat as he comes up with creative ways to get her to take her medicine. The plot is advanced a bit in the end when Wulong Mountain (the origin of Jin’an’s supernatural powers) is finally dragged into the fray as the sorcerer continues his desperate quest to retrieve the shadow puppet, killing 13 people in the process.

General Li understands the assignment now as she jumps into action to save Jin’an because his energy is depleted from fighting tens of thousands of soldiers single-handedly. General Li devises a plan to rescue him, showcasing her beautiful and alluring dancing skills in the process. Jin’an is finally ready to reveal the last secret he’s been hiding—his ability to self-heal his wounds. He invites the General to examine his body to verify. OMGGGGG—what a nice allusion to her actions earlier in episode 10 when she ordered him to strip, lol. This Director—OMG. Just give him the award for Best Swoonworthy, Take-My-Breath Away, Stop-Me-In-My-Tracks Scene. On another note, during the battle at Ninglan, General Li was no slouch herself as she led her troops to victory. The General’s bow-and-arrow—it’s really cool. The way it’s retractable—I don’t we ever saw that feature before. It’s giving Wonder Woman and Katniss Everdeen. So badass.

We learn more about the politics in the imperial family wherein one of the princes is trying to take down General Li as the Li family is a powerful military family that the prince fears might be uncontrollable if left unchecked. To allay the government’s fears, impulsive little brother kidnaps Jin’an with the purpose of turning him over to the authorities. On the way there, Jin’an secret superpowers get revealed.

This was honestly kind of a filler episode where we gained many insights into the various supporting characters and the leads themselves. We see how concerned the lady general is about her little brother. We see how caring the ML is as he helps her to manage her troublesome little bro. We learn about the doctor’s crush and we see her rejected harshly. We see more of the ML’s vulnerable and desperate state as he craves the FL’s blood.Funny bit—The two lady guards at General Li’s residence were funny in ep 4, when the subordinate guard kept repeating the questions that the head guard asked, then Jin’an said, “Where’s that echo coming from?”—Had me rolling

This is our introduction to the ML’s alter ego when his heart gets overstimulated. ML is shirtless as he transforms into a blond superhero. He’s a magnificent and beautiful specimen to behold. Marvel, this is who you need in your universe.

When ML finally understands the FL’s plan, he discerns that she loves him and doesn’t want to kill him as ordered by the Flying Bird Society. He kabadons her, forces her to admit her feelings for him, and then he kisses the hell out of her. OOMMGGG. He then takes his belt, ties her hands behind her back, and throws her over his shoulder.

The ML finally has calmed down now that he realizes the FL has kept him in her heart too all these years. He gives her a tender deep kiss, as opposed to a forceful angry one like before. He somewhat apologizes for his bad behavior previously.

ML finally realized that FL had been holding onto the engagement ring, that he had made himself, all these years. His hard, troubled, angry heart finally softens and starts to heal.

The angry ML’s bad behavior comes to a head when almost s3xually assaults the FL in the snow. It’s weird and unsettling to watch. He comes to his senses though and stops. At this point, I’m loosing patience with the ML. His anger needs to cease. He’s vented enough.

The strong-willed and persistent FL and the stubborn, hard-hearted ML have an intense standoff that results in the FL kneeling in the snow all night. Needless to say, she gets ill and who ends up caring for her?

We meet the FL’s love rival, the fiancée—very beautiful and sweet. How is this triangle going to unfold? ML seems indifferent but tolerant and polite to her. She doesn’t seem like a vixen. What exactly is their relationship?

ML’s quirky and charming nephew adds a lightness to the heavy plot and the smoldering sexual tension we’ve seen from the leads. Nephew is funny and adorable. We don’t want to see him get hurt. He’s an innocent in all of this.

Episode 1 starts off strong. Extremely sexy and attention-getting. Mildly disturbing though because of the auction that’s underway. The visuals aren’t so great though, in my opinion. The leads are attractive, but the stylist dropped the ball with the ML’s eyebrows—completely overdone, very distracting—and the FL’s dresses are so ugly . However, the good acting makes up for it and you soon forget about the visuals.
