They're both similarly psycho. Makes me wonder if there are no branches on their family tree.
I 100% believe that he would have killed his own son. He would have cried and been sad afterwards, but he also would have told Qian Qian that it was her fault, and they need to start making a replacement son ASAP.
Chang Yu really has great instincts. When she saw Sui, she immediately knew she couldn’t let him live, otherwise…
But also, she could have cut his throat, but paused to have a chat with him and let him convince her that killing him in that moment would be a bad idea.
That primal scream before she jumped through the fire. This is a woman prepared to die and determined not to. Our girl is a savage and I fucking LOVE her.
The gua sha scene is definitely one of the best romantic scenes i have ever seen, it was very intimate but zero…
That was my thought as well. I've never seen someone receiving medical treatment before, and thought "Wow, that's romantic". It was incredibly intimate, and not leery in any way at all. If he had been in any kind of way awkward, like any hint of "Oh no, I saw her boobies" or something, it would have completely missed the mark. But we got the quiet and convicted "I am her husband" because he means it. Yes, they haven't consummated the marriage, but to him, they are still completely married and there is nothing inappropriate about him caring for his wife in such an intimate manner.
Can we talk about how good of a storyteller Zeng Qingjie is?The exposition (Lin'an County Arc) truly established…
Yes, yes, yes. The story needed to give us time to become familiar with these people and their petty and not so petty squabbles, so that when the harsh juxtaposition hits, we care. We even care about the bitchy characters (Mrs Song, you are excluded from this list) when we see what they are capable of and how caring and brave they can be when put in extreme situations. We mourn the kind people we got to know, we understand their simple lives, their struggles, and their relationships. If that part of the story had been skipped, it minimises the impact of what war really means to innocent civilians. These people are not some 'other' population, distant from us and to whom we have no connection. We know these people. They could be our friends, our neighbours, they could be us.
Haha, this is addictive. You should slow down now, from Monday we have only 1 episode each day.
Agree. Being a good director requires so many different skill sets, and this guy is a GREAT director. He'd be fascinating to have a conversation with. I reckon he could make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
After watching Episode 19; of Pursuit of Jade, the first thing I want to say is- this is absolute peak. My goodness.…
Agree 1,000%. I love a drama where you cam really feel the commitment to the vision from everyone involved. This is just FABULOUS. Never enjoyed a performance from ZLH before, but my god I thnk he is great in this. I don't think there's one performance in this I can criticise, right down to the extras.
Even the extras pulling out all the stops. Anyone else clock that little maid's face when Qian Qian was putting on all the jewellery? She was trying so hard not to cry.
