Filming will begin in February of next year with a scheduled second half of 2026 release. All the main cast from S1 is expected to return but nobody is confirmed as of yet except for Kwak Sun Young who mentioned filming for S2 would begin next year
Season 2 without bongseok ðŸ˜it means they are focusing on timings ,again and bridge another universe of Kangfull…
Definitely sad to see him go but can't say i'm really surprised because earlier in the year he said he talked to Kang Full about season 2 and was super excited about everything he was told but said he wasn't sure if he'll be able to appear in it. So it sounds like he kinda expected he wasn't going to since his military service and the filming period were probably going to overlap
I assume he was planning for his enlistment for sometime in 2026 since he is required to enlist by 28 and he is currently 27. He probably figured it was best to do it for then since filming is supposedly going to take a year for this new season so he wouldn't of been able to enlist until sometime in the first half of 2027 if he returned season 2
In an interview with Park Kook Jae, the creator of the novel, he said Season 2 is being considered by the team but the second season of the novel must precede Season 2 of the drama before it can proceed. The synopsis for Season 2 of the novel has been said to be more or less complete. The introduction, development, climax, and conclusion are also roughly complete. The details (of the plot development) are still being worked out.
The current plan they have in mind is to simultaneously launch Season 2, encompassing the original work, the drama, and the web novel. If there's a Season 2, the spinoff could be the beginning of that story that explores how the Tyrant came to be in the modern era.
As of now, there isn't any current plan for Season 2 to happen. Really only that Park Kook Jae and production team being onboard for the possibility of it
Lee Jung Ha will not reprise his role of Kim Bong Seok in S2 because he has applied to the Marine Corps and recently received his notice of acceptance. He is scheduled to enlist in the Marine Corps Training Corps on January 26th of next year to fulfill his military duty. After his enlistment, filming for S2 will have begun a few months after in April 2026
Will be curious to see if his character is written out of the story or if another actor will take over the role of Kim Bong Seok because it looked like he was going to play a crucial role in S2 with his family that reunited, Jang Hui Su, and him finally coming into his powers. I'd assume they are re-casting
Jo Hye Joo reportedly casted as Bok Hui. Like Paeng I, she comes from an orphanage and has a free-spirited and uncontrollable personality. Bok Hui, who has lived a difficult life marred by abuse and has turned to crime, becomes a person of interest after becoming involved in Paeng I and Saengdak's drug business. In the original work, she is known as the protagonist who drives the narrative of Part 1 along with Top and Saengdak.
Production team is currently casting for the lead and supporting roles and is preparing for an OTT release. The exact broadcast date and platform are currently being discussed
Park Hae Jin reportedly cast as the male lead in Season 2 replacing Kim Jun Han. His agency, Artist Company, said "Park Hae Jin has received the offer for 'Good Partner 2' and is currently reviewing it."
