Oh, I need to watch I do, I do. Many people recommend that :)
I agreed about complex dramas about adults. That's what I want to see.
I also wonder about ratings in Korea for the dramas. Looks like a dramas with older actors are more popular. Probably the audience that watches TV is getting older so they don't want to watch about problems or 16 year olds. Or it's that 16 year olds are switching to watching online. Or it's the combination of the 2. But generally, the overall ratings are getting much lower than say 8-10 years ago. Or maybe the people are just tired of dramas? Or is it too many dramas produced now?

Sorry for the long silence. I had too much work so no drama watching for me recently. But I'm getting back to it now :) Speaking about bad dramas, it probably also depends on the number of dramas I've seen and when a drama was made. Many have similar plot but if I watch a not so good one first, I might actually like it just because this is the first time I've seen such a thing. Like many people say Full House is bad, but this was my first kdrama, so to me it was good. Plus everything made before 2005 has such an old fashioned clothing that it makes it difficult to judge straight.
I got into watching because my then coworkers kept exchanging dramas and coming to work with puffy eyes after crying all night. So I wanted to look, but didn't know where to start. So I just googled and found Meteor Garden on youtube. And so I started watching Taiwanese dramas. What about you?

For me, I think I'm just not in that age demographic :) I just went to a Wonder Girls concert, and yes, it's probably true :) That drama is for 16 year olds I think. But if I think about it more, I do enjoy some dramas about high schoolers (the biggest one though not my most favorite is BOF). Do you usually like watching about people that are somewhat similar to you?

I guess it's a good rule to look at the lists of people who are similar to you for things to watch. But sometimes a bad drama is not necessarily a waist of time. The good ones seem even better :) Otherwise one can lose perspective on what's goo and bad :) Any bad ones you know?

Thanks for the Dae Mul and I do, I do suggestions. I'll try those. I haven't watched any Japanese dramas yet (till the end anyway), can not get over the cultural shock when I try to watch them. I somehow got used to the Korean and Taiwanese ones, but for some reason can not get over it in Japanese. Same goes for historical dramas. I only watched pseudo historical (Dr Jin, Rooftop Prince) and just can not seat still because it always feels like there is no control there and the actions are so random and sometimes even stupid for no reason. I guess I just have to try some more and just treat them like general amusement rather than think about the issues.

I think I also prefer dramas. After watching a few of them when I watch a movie it just doesn't feel satisfying. The characters are not developed as well, the story is usually pretty truncated. Of course, there are exceptions. The what's your favorite drama? What do you usually watch?

Which dramas do you watch? How do you choose what to watch next? There is no way to watch all dramas even only from Korea (it'll probably take 50 years of non stop watching)

This looks like a great site. I don't know many people who watch Asian dramas in person (or maybe people are hiding), so this could be a way to discuss dramas. I used to like Taiwanese dramas and only watched that in the beginning. But then I switched to Korean. I like dramas with strong female leads or at least when the females are logical somewhat (like The World they Live In). But there are exceptions (like Coffee Prince :)
At first, judging by the name and the beginning, I was just expecting the typical rich boy loves poor girl type movie. But then there is a twist in the story line which makes it completely not that. Good movie overall.
This is a good drama. Despite all tragedy that goes on there, I found it pretty calming. In fact it was so calming that when I watched the end of the last episode, I didn't realize the show was over. Also, Vic Zhou is very manly in there (which I prefer much more to his other acting style of a physiologically unstable person).
If you like Pasta, this is kind of similar. However, I warn you the female lead is pretty annoying in the beginning. There is not much romance, but strangely, it didn't bother me. I really liked Vick Zhou's more serious and mature acting. Also, this is about food, so if you like shows that doesn't just gloss over the food subject, it's great.
This was very painful to watch. I'm so glad kdramas progressed after that. I'm still not clear why the guy chose her in the end. She seems annoying and useless.
I don't play ping pong, so I have a question about the actual ping pong action here. Did they use a double for HJW? Or does she really play table tennis? It looked pretty realistic, but again I'm not an expert.
I love Lee Sun Gyun with undying affection, but I sure hated this drama. This drama made me seriously question…
I read a lot of comments how this show is sexist and all. However, before I read those comments it didn't occur to me it was sexist. Maybe it was too explicit on the whole male domination, but it's pretty true in life that there is male domination. Just look at some statistics and you'll see that most jobs of power are occupied by males. So, to me this show was not about that. This show was about a guy who fell in love with a subordinate and who struggled to make piece with that. The female lead did whatever it took to get to her goal (btw, in just as spineless way as do many people in say finance industry)
I also really dislike the female's personality, but it seems typical in Korean dramas.
What are you guys taking about? When I watch dramas/movies, or even read a book, I take in consideration when…
It's a good way to say that we need to consider the time the movie was made for our feedback. However, the trouble is many of us do not have any association with Korean movie industry/culture of 2004. We just watch it now and compared to current movies this one is not very good (in my opinion). There are older Korean movies that I still find very good, so it's not like I dislike all old movies.
Also, consider comparing movies of 1930 to current ones. Unless you're a movie history student, I'm not sure how much you can associate with that. Yes, it's right thing to say those movies were better than current (innovation of the time, breakthrough in cinematography, etc.), but really, deep down in your heart, when you stay at home alone on a rainy day, would you watch those movies or your favorite current movie?
