Can we just talk about how funny Honey Lee is in this drama? Her expressions were so hilarious when she had that nightmare of ppl trying push her over the cliff but the ML saves her. But when her hands starts disappearing and she starts to go blind, she was so funny. Only Honey Lee can pull off comedic scenes like that! She's perfect for this role! I'm hoping at one point we get to see her play the gayageum!
Her acting like that is most probably because of her not being able to experience actual love, imagine being deprived…
I disagree. She attached herself to the ML purely because he didn't get injured when he protected her. Her stalkery, obsessive and jealous traits are a bit over-the-top and ridiculous. It would be different if he reciprocated her feelings but he constantly rejected her and yet she continued to encroach on his boundaries. Her character lacks self-control and pride. At the very least, she should have some self-respect for herself.
I liked this when it first started but now BORING. Seems to just drag along. I like Nana but her part in this…
I totally agree. Even the fact when she drunk and puts herself danger just to get his address. It's very immature and irresponsible. I mean, they're dealing with serial killer and she's like, "I'm outside and its late at night..." WTF? This show is a bit ridiculous going back and forth trying to be serious and then there's the immaturity of the FL.
Saw all 8 eps in one go and it wasn't as bad as some people were making it to be. Read also some comments saying…
It's not appealing to some audiences to see the FL drunk all the time. Alcoholism isnt attractive. She's an adult drinking like she's in her early 20s. I personally feel like it's a cop out. Instead of having genuine, sober heartfelt moments, the writers just use the "Oh, she's drunk so let's do a kissing scene." Nothing worse when the first kiss is just because one of the leads is drunk. A real gentlemen wouldn't take advantage of a drunk girl like that. It's sloppy and lazy writing to me.
thanks for facts They way she handled her cheating boyfriend by looking down on him seem like she has lot of Experience…
You're twisting everything around again. I clearly wrote that it's been 15 to 18 years she was away from HOME. You clearly didn’t watch Ep3 where all the friends went to Seoul together. A woman deciding to dump sour kimchi on her cheating bf doesn't make her experienced being cheated on. She was hurt and decided to put him in his place. Where you draw the assumption that she's been cheated on multiple times is your own "storyline". At no time did the drama indicate this.
I'm curious to know where you got your facts about the FL dating random cheaters as well as that the ML was "waiting" for her? She had one boyfriend who betrayed her by sleeping with her assistant who purposely seduced him. Also, she didn’t go back to Jeju to "return" to the ML. She just went back home. The ML wasn't waiting for her. He was just worried about her and maybe pined after her. Apparently by EP2, you can see that they clearly broke up and that he broke it off with her. It has been many years since she had moved away from home. At least 15 to 18 years. You're entitled to write your own reviews and opinions on dramas but at least stick to the facts.
I agree with your comments. I really wanted to like this drama because I like the ML. But watching him in the…
Yes, his character is very similar to Forbidden Marriage. I dropped that halfway becuz I disliked the love triangle and the SML was a better choice. He plays the same type broody ML. In his other drama, Shooting Stars, he was like that in the beginning too. He needs to be more versatile in the roles he chooses. Maybe an uplifting, funny rom-com/dramedy but he's good for these serious, broody roles. This particuar drama is just going in circles at this point.
I totally agree. I don't get the hype. I couldn't stand Se-Kyung and the fact all the boys worshipped her like a goddess. Puh-leezeeee. It wasn't really a "blast from the past" either. Except for the fax machine and payphone, otherwise, I didn't really feel like I was transported back in time. The time travelling scenario was a bit flawed to me and I really love time travelling genres. Don't even get me started on the ending. I'll be posting my review later as well!
I saw Lee Joon Hyuk on "Vigilante" and I remembered him from "Stranger". I was thinking and wondering what he would be like in a rom-com as a ML and then I see this! He also plays a single father too! I can't wait!!
I totally agree about the makeup on not just the King but everyone! Like they really couldn't afford to hire make-up artists who can do creative animal make-up? Even the ones at kids birthday parties can do a better job. And the long eyelashes on the brother? What's up with that when he's supposed to have "moose" qualities. I can't take him seriously either. I'm finding the female lead very difficult to like. I'm only on ep 10 on Viki and from the looks of it, until at least ep 18, I can't believe that she still has zero interest in the ML in his werewolf form.
I watched this when it first came out and I came back to read the reviews because of the FL. She's in another older drama that I just picked up and then I realized that I recognized her from this drama. I actually strongly disliked her as the FL in this show. I remembered I dropped this but then skipped to the ending solely for the same reason what you said... how the King constantly pined after her and she continued to reject him each time. So dumb*ss. Like seriously girl?! You ain't even all that. And let's be honest, NO King during those times would've accepted her rejection that many times. No how, no way. I just didn't find it believeable at all. And then ending was so rushed and pathetic. This drama just dragged on and on about her denying her feelings for no real sensible reason whatsoever. I felt your rating was generous. I would've given it 5.5 at least. Great review! And yes, we watched the same lame drama.
You know, I was just thinking this too that I'm starting to get kind of bored with the show, which is so unfortunate…
I agree... it was a breath of fresh air when it started but now I'm getting bored too. They keep playing the jealousy theme over and over again... the King's jealous and now Shin Won's jealous. If it's not that, it's both of them rescuing her. She needs rescuing all the time. Rinse, wash, repeat.
I agree with your review and I'm so pissed at the finale, that I can't even bother to write my own review. When I saw the first 5 minutes of last episode, I was done. Who the f*ck made the decision end such a good series with an anti-climatic, sorry-assed ending? I think this series will go down in history as one of the worst drama endings ever. I'm beginning to realize that this is becoming a "norm" with kdramas, (anti-climatic endings), but still... this one tops the cake.
You said right! I totally agree with your review. Why would any woman really wanna get together with a guy like that? That's what really bothers me too. The fact the FL lead is falling for someone like that when there's another who always puts her first?
I think you misidentified some people. The teammate is Jin Sunho and the ex is Jae Hyeok. Sunho is the SML not…
Thank you for pointing out my mix up with the names. I haven't gotten back into this since it had skipped that one week so for now, I'll put it as "dropped". I read how Sun Ho (now corrected).kisses the FL lead while drunk and that would just piss me off anyways. But keeping with the acting of the ML and the SML, even though I'm not a fan of the FL, I just thought she had more chemistry with the SML and it usually sucks when you're watching a love triangle and you fall into the SML syndrome and root for the SML. Not caring about looks, I just felt that the SML had more acting depth than the ML. (From what I've watched so far). I might pick this back up later and update my review but after that one skipped week, this the only drama I dreaded picking back up because the push and pull storyline and the cheer-stuff was just so tedious to watch.
I just started watching this series and OMG... I totally agree with what you said about Dilraba Dilmurat. I agree that she has zero chemistry with any lead. I don't know what it is either but I feel like the leading men do a better job carrying the "chemistry" so to speak. Also, for this particular series, I don't see her really being able to fully lead this role. I'm not sure what it is but there's something in her acting sometimes that's just lacking in some of the roles she plays. She just doesn't come off "angry" or "revengeful" enough. I don't hate the actress or anything like that at all. I'll keep watching this for Leo Wu! And as for her martial arts, I'm not even halfway through and already she's lost every fight she's in with hand to hand or sword to sword or dagger and arrow combat! Lol! Thanks for your review!
Thanks for reading. I was OK with the FL at first. Then as the show progressed, her character became impossible…
Hahaha!! I think we just dislike weak female roles! Omg, I totally agree about JCW's dramas! He's only good when he's doing action genre and martial arts. What's up with him? I dunno if it's the roles or just his acting. I fast forwarded through Suspicious Partner and skipped a whole lot. There's another one that just came out that he's in, (a hospice one), and I watched the first two episodes but it's very slow paced. Your reviews are brutally honest and funny too! Keep them coming!
Finally, a review that mirrors exactly what I wanted to say but was too lazy to write and that's only because there are just so many complaints I had with how the FL lead was written. Honestly, I like this show but holy bejeezus did the FL just annoy me so much sometimes!
Half the FL's antics were so hypocritical and immature that I wished she at least was more beguiling and cunning. All the women are written badly as either bullies or weak. The only one that's somewhat decent is the Princess Consort. Some scenes made no sense either... like the time she kisses the ML on the cheek on the Empress' birthday and then suddenly gets up for a walk only to be 'framed' for having a secret tryst with the Fifth Prince. Seriously? She just decides to go out on a walk and the ML didn't even follow her out? So dumbass. It made zero sense.
Then there's like changes in characters that you thought were alright in the beginning but then later they're just like idiots. Like the Crown Prince and his wife. I thought this couple was alright in the beginning but it's like a different writer came in and changed their storyline suddenly. That whole murder conspiracy and how for years the wife tormented his former first love was pretty unnecessary. Another female character written to look bad and jealous. All the women are all just jealous of the FL apparently and I don't even know why. I was sick too of how her Mother constantly publicly humiliated her own daughter. She would just go on and on about how bad her daughter was and then turn around and be like, "Don't you see I did it for you?" Like WTF?
And I'm also sick and tired of the Emperor being an idiot too most of the time. Thanks for writing down my exact gripes with this show. I'm still watching it but now at the 44th episode, I'm finding it draggy.
Great and honest review! Thanks for writing everything I wanted to say as well! I read your review first and later I went back and realize you were the same one who wrote the "Eve" review I liked too. Great minds think alike! Lol!!
