most weren't expecting or hoping for a "unrealistic" cinderella ending, people are just frustrated bec the show…
People are frustrated because they think they are morally superior than the characters and think they know better how relationships must end. As you have said, both cheated on each other at the same time (and place). How could the ML be angry at her, or the FL be vindictive if both were at fault? They couldn't even have a conversation about what happened that night in the whole drama, and I think that is because it was not the point, not the main reason for their break up.
Actually I think they had two breakups: one at the elevator and another one at the end in the hotel room. (I loved those two scenes!!)
I do agree sometimes she was a bitch and he was a little fool, but she was resentful and he was regretful and both were trying to sort out their emotions. There is nothing wrong with that. They had a long term love and professional relationship. And unless you are an AI machine, it is hard to end with someone you have shared dreams about your whole future, even though things were already going down hill. As one of his friends said at the end, when they went for ice cream, those two people still needed some time together. I don't know if the translation is accurate, but the tittle "Between Him and Her" fitted perfectly in this story.
If it was about cheating, why people here are not angry at Yoo Joo did with Shi Hoo too??
A cinderella ending is when characters act exactly in the way people are expecting, when the story only exists to fulfill peoples fantasy. It was not the case of this drama and it surprised me, I loved!
Cha Eun Woo is in another level of acting in this drama. Happy that he took a more challenging character to represent, and hope he keeps growing as an actor.
I liked this drama. I could feel the pain when the ML finally realized their relationship was really over and the tenderness in their last embrace. It was the best scene in this drama, along with that one in the hotel's elevator. Hyun Sung was very real at the end, when he said that maybe because they loved each other for 7 years it was a long, slow burn and painful breakup. Both characters had their weaknesses and flaws and I love when k-dramas show this kind of story. If you are expecting cliche romance, with unrealistic Cinderella ending, this drama definitely is not for you ;)
Despite the childish character of Ning, I loved this drama, specially the dark cinematography and the camera movement. The last two episodes gave us what I was expecting from the beginning. And Sii Yilin and princess Ka Dan is my favorite couple, with excellent chemistry. I hope there is a season 2 :))
I loved this drama. Characters are so real, the screenplay and the OST are good too. One of the best dramas about love. Forget about the childish comments here. I don't care about how it is gonna end, it's already a 10/10 for me.
A slice of life simple story about a growing romance between two adults in the hectic business/financial city of Shanghai. The chemistry between ML and FL is astonishing. A must watch and one of my favorites of 2023. It's a hidden gem, a 10/10 for me.

And I feel so so sorry for Lee Sun Kyun, he was one of the greatest :(
