The story had a lot of potential, and the first few episodes were great. The cast was OK. The villain, who stood out, was great. But after episode 5 or 6, the pacing really slowed down. The directing style wasn’t quite my taste, and some of the physical interactions between the leads felt really forced. What was with all the neck grabbing from the male lead?!

I loved it too lol, my favorites of Shin Sekyung are this and When a Man's in Love although they are her lowest…
I'm usually not a fan of pairings where the man is much older, especially with SSK, since she looks younger than her age. But the actor in CTK really surprised me. Not only is he a fantastic actor, but he also becomes very attractive with the beard once he appears as king after episode 4. I never expected this to become my favorite SSK pairing so far. If I could choose one of her co-stars to reunite with her in another drama, it would definitely be him. You can tell from the BTS clips that SSK genuinely admires him and was happy to work with him. The second choice would be Eunwoo :)

Rookie Historian is her best work. The script and her character are well-written and genuinely fun. It’s lighthearted but still carries meaningful messages. The music and direction are also top-notch, and she has great chemistry with her co-star. Definitely a must-watch from her.

In defense of Shin Sekyung, other than her being appreciated in Korea and even having received excellence awards…
I actually liked Fashion King too—it was a great surprise for me, just like Blade Man and When a Man's in Love. Based on the ratings and some of the comments here, I was expecting something bad, but I ended up really enjoying them and binge-watched all of them.

I think a lot of people confuse the quality of acting with how likable the character is. In general, there are far fewer well-written female roles. Most dramas are written in a way that lets the male lead shine, while the female lead often just struggles through the story so that the male lead can save her, kiss her, or show off in some way. SSK has this innocent, childlike aura, and she cries in a way that makes you instantly sympathize with her—which makes her a great fit for these kinds of roles. But if you compare her in When a Man’s in Love to Blade Man, the energy she brings is completely different. Totally different characters, totally different vibe. Someone can’t be a bad actress if she’s able to bring such distinct personalities to life.

What I personally appreciate even more is how her looks and voice seem to shift with each role. I first saw her in Rookie Historian, without even knowing who she was. Then Netflix suggested Bride of Habaek, The Girl Who Sees Scents, and Black Knight—and in none of them did I ever feel like I was watching the same character or a weak performance.

Do you have any proof? source? If so, report it and request its removal. Until then, just claiming something is fake because it doesn't align with your beliefs doesn't hold weight.

Some interesting facts about actor and man Kim Soo Hyun:* In March 2015, Kim was awarded for being a model taxpayer…
* When Kim Soo Hyun was in 11th grade, he set fire to sixty paper airplanes and flew them across the classroom, all because the airplanes looked so cool on fire. He ended up getting pulled out of the room by his teacher for almost burning the school down and was hit from his classroom on the fifth floor all the way to the first floor where the office was.

* His lack of hesitation in touching women during his projects has also earned him the title of ‘Naughty Hands.’

Are you this loud when other actors, especially actresses!!!, get bullied for no reason? Did you ever stand up…
Then maybe start with a better example. Calling someone out for their actions isn’t hate. Most people here are sharing real sources, evidence, and clear reasons why they don’t support this actor. Having a conversation and an opinion isn’t the same as spreading hate. Want to talk about changing the system? Then let’s start by not letting this guy get away with his narcissistic behavior. Let’s show that women (girls!!) aren’t disposable, and that powerful, famous men can’t just do whatever they want without facing at least some public accountability. Yes, we should keep it polite and respectful and stay focused on actions and facts. Silencing everyone and labeling them as haters just because they speak up won’t change anything, it only keeps the world exactly as it is.

What competent institutions? So many wrongdoings go unpunished because the system is often ineffective and corrupt. The law doesn’t even address many morally questionable actions. Even murderers can walk free if they have enough money and influence.
In this case, there’s clear evidence that this guy is far from someone who deserves the admiration and support he’s getting.
But you still haven’t answered my question. Are you this vocal when it comes to defending people who are genuinely bullied for no reason? Or are you just using the 'hater' and 'bullying' narrative because accepting the truth would hurt?
If you do stand up for others with this much passion too, then go for it! I honestly wish more people would be less judgmental and jealous, especially women toward other women.
But if this is the only time you go all-in defending someone, then let’s be honest, you’ve idolized a person you don’t even know, and now you can’t accept the reality of who he really is.

I think it's important not to confuse cyberbullying, anonymous loud judgment, and holding someone accountable for their actions. In this case, there’s clear evidence that this guy lied and acted in ways that are morally questionable, calling him out for that isn’t bullying!

Are you this loud when other actors, especially actresses!!!, get bullied for no reason? Did you ever stand up for someone like KSR before? Honestly, the amount of time you spend on here is kinda worrying. Maybe these celebs wouldn’t end up acting like narcissists who think they can do anything if they didn’t have so many blindly devoted fans hyping them up. People like you are part of the problem too.

It’s clear that we have very different moral standards. When you get older—maybe in your 30s—and look back on your teenage years, you’ll likely realize just how naive and vulnerable a young person can be. That’s exactly why the responsibility in situations like this lies with the adult.

A man or woman in their late 20s should absolutely avoid any kind of romantic or sexual relationship with a minor. For the adult, it might be just another relationship—but for the teenager, or even a young adult, it’s often their first love and experience. And those early experiences shape how they approach relationships for the rest of their lives.

And in case the adult fails to act responsibly and enters the relationship anyway, the very least they could do is not ghost the other person when they try to reach out—especially when they’re clearly struggling emotionally.

I guess you're just young and haven't experienced much yet. Yes, it's absolutely possible to still love someone even after they break up with you—especially if they were your first love. That kind of connection can linger for a long time, even if both people decide to move on. When you're still in love, you often try to fill the emptiness you feel from missing that person.

And you kind of answered your own question: Why is this about him and not her other boyfriends? Because she wasn’t reaching out to them—she was reaching out to him. It wasn’t the others who pressured her for money. It wasn’t the others who denied ever dating her and left her to be attacked by brainless fans. And most of all, she didn’t end her life on any of their birthdays—but on his.

But honestly, you’re still missing the bigger picture. Even if she hadn’t taken her life, his actions would still be deeply problematic and unworthy of someone in the public eye. Grooming a minor. Turning his back on someone he once loved instead of helping her. Letting his fans harass and tear her apart. Pressuring her to repay money she couldn’t afford, even though he didn’t urgently need it and could have easily offered a long-term solution. Lying until the truth couldn’t be denied anymore. Suing her family for speaking out. And after all that, saying he wouldn’t do anything differently?

And this is just one case. Other disturbing stories keep surfacing. This isn’t just about one poor girl—it’s about a man who clearly doesn’t deserve the love and support of millions of women.

After all the lying from his side, I’m more inclined to believe what she said about their relationship. And let’s be honest—ending your life on a specific day takes immense pain and purpose. It’s not like she just thought, 'Oh, here’s a nice guy—I think I’ll ruin his life by killing myself on his birthday.' No one does that without a deep, heartbreaking reason.

Once again, you're focusing on her instead of his actions. No one claimed she was innocent—and more importantly, she doesn't have to be. That girl was so in love with him, even at the end, that rather than dragging him through the mud, she took her own life. When someone truly loves another person, even after a breakup, and that person reaches out during their darkest time, a decent human being would respond with empathy and support—not ignore them, make them feel foolish, or increase their financial burden. And then to keep lying about the relationship until it can no longer be denied? Even when her grieving parents ask for a simple apology for his awful behavior, he can’t bring himself to say her name—let alone has the audacity to sue them.

Even if that were true, how is it relevant to his actions? Isn’t it clear that his own choices and behavior are what led to all of this? Plus if he hadn’t seduced her as a teenager and then ghosted her, maybe she wouldn’t have tried to fill that emotional void elsewhere.
