It has ruined the whole vibe we had going on in this community. Everytime I open Instagram or even this comment…
I haven't been very active recently, but I can imagine that. I still hope that everyone is respectful and ethical, and try their best to avoid watching leaked episodes. It is so disrespectful.
Yes, I didn't know. I have been pretty busy and just saw this on X. I feel really sorry for the whole team because we don't get dramas like this very often. This drama is definitely a level above the others.
I haven't caught up with the latest episodes but it's great to see this comment section still going strong and stable rating at 9.2! My favorite band released an album so that's keeping me busy today. Hopefully I will have time to catch with all the episodes over the weekend. It's a busy busy weekend for me with good music and good drama!
Okay, I have some major gripes now with Xie Zheng. He practically sacrificed the thousand men General He loaned…
Regarding Yan/Xie Zheng: Agreed! I was very shocked when he suggested that and everyone decided to go ahead with it. This is when I realized that this is who Xie Zheng is. He's probably everything the others have been accusing him of since Ep 1 - that he's bloodthirsty and ruthless. It's just that we have never seen his darker side because he was away recovering in Lin'an. Now that he's back to being an actual general fighting a real war, he's back to his old self. It's just director's way of showing that everyone has two sides. Our minds can't match his persona as sweet Yan Zheng with his persona as Xie Zheng. He's a grey character who cares for his loved ones, but is willing to sacrifice others to win a war. I'm still trying to understand Xie Zheng's personality. In the latest episode he was willing to rest and recover with the fellow soldiers, and also refused treatment so that his other soldiers could use it. I'm indeed glad that Tutor Tao stepped in and called out his scheme. I do hope that he becomes more a bit more humane in the future. We will see.
Today's episode was sooo good! Finally, CY and YZ reunion that we have all been waiting for.
That 1 meter long blue ribbon is a paid actor that defied physics and somehow flew from CY's hair, entered YZ's tent through those tiny slots and ended up nicely draped on his coat holder.
Princess and YZ are giving me sibling energy. I loved her expression when she realized that the great General Wu'an, who famously rejected her, is now married to CY. She also seems like a genuinely kind but a bit sheltered person.
I LOVE that YZ apologized to CY about that forced kiss. Kudos to the scriptwriter and director.
My heart is just happy today! My Fan sisters finally reunited!
PS: I love that this show has many genuinely nice women. Everyone except Mrs. Song redeemed themselves.
PPS: Extra shoutout to XZ's Ariana Grande-style ponytail. He looks so good with it. He does know how to tie hair very well. One of the few males who can actually tie his wife's hair given that he has really glorious hair himself.
Finally got to see the formation of the Northwest Pig Slaughter Squad. I laughed out loud when Gongsun Yin says 'Reminds me of someone' and Xie Zheng immediately replies 'Impossible!!!' 😂 Haha, Xie Zheng, you should know better. Never underestimate Changyu.
Another favorite memory is Grand Tutor Tao and Mr. Zhao friendly bickering over Changyu. Grand Tutor Tao is definitely in for a surprise very soon.
Now I'll silently wait for our leads to finally reunite.
PS: I lowkey have a crush on ZLH. I have seen him previously in a couple of dramas (and really liked his chemistry in The Best Thing) but didn't really have a crush on him. I guess men in uniforms, especially generals, are my weakness.
PPS: Changyu is inspiring me to take strength training seriously! Turns out Tian Xiwei is very fit too and she actually lifted ZLH in some of the scenes. Pretty impressive!!!
PPPS: Many scenes have stood out in this drama but one of my favorite scenes is from the end of the first episode because it broke the norms. It's the last scene when Changyu finds Yan Zheng in her pig sty. He looks like a damsel in distress, and she's his knight in shining armour. He finally feels safe and drops the chopsticks he was holding - a literal general falling apart in front of her and dropping all his defenses.
No, the grandpa and aunt died, too, though they don't show her finding out. Li Huai An heard the news, went to…
To be fair, CY is smart but she also doesn't know her own original identity, and given how conceited the nobles were back in those times and given how famous Marquis of Wu'an is, it's probably too farfetched for her to think that her matrilocal husband is that famous Marquis of Wu'an. Their class difference is too much.
I also think that it's high time YZ/XZ comes clean. However, from the trailers, it seems like it isn't happening anytime soon!
Why do you think he tried to make it so artistically beautiful? Do you think it has more to do with an internal…
"I do feel some dramas (particularly Cdramas I've seen) lean into a romanticization of the toxic." This is my biggest gripe with many Cdramas, and even some Kdramas.
In this case, it's probably an artistic choice to create a bit of cognitive dissonance. Our eyes tells us that `this looks pretty` but our brain and heart tells us 'This is wrong on so many levels.'

I thought I was a massive procrastinator but Yan Zheng clearly beats me 100x. The younger Sui brother is literally chasing after her because she's Marquis Wu'an's wife, and kidnapped Changning because he thinks she's his daughter, and both my girls don't know why they have to undergo so much suffering.
To be fair, I do feel that in Ep 17, CY talked about handing a divorce letter, so perhaps he felt that he didn't have to come clean to her back then. Second time, CY was almost dead, but she ran away when YZ was away, and he again missed the opportunity to come clean. What doesn't make sense to me is the third time when he caught her falling down the cliff while trying to get those vambraces he gifted her. He could have come clean to her back then and we wouldn't have this drama...
First of all, I'm still very much invested in this show. I love it so much!!!
Caught up with all the episodes. I feel bad for both our FLs - Changyu and QQ. Poor Changning's being traumatized by Sui brothers. Meanwhile Changyu herself is barely holding herself together. My girl can't catch a break. First she lost her parents, then she lost her neighbors and family friends. Her husband also left her. Fell down a literal cliff and somehow survived??? Now her sister is missing and she's going around all alone somehow holding herself together, trying to find Changning. Then, she gets kidnapped to do stone quarrying. My heart breaks for her.
<< Begin rant - Cdrama tropes 🙃>> YZ been almost MIA in the latest episodes. He somehow found CY twice and managed to lose track of her both the times??? Second time she was injured after falling down a cliff, and still his soldiers couldn't track her. This part of the plot seemed to have holes, because given how obsessed YZ is with CY, I find it very difficult to believe that this happened. He could have atleast informed CY that they are trying to track Changning given how worried she's been about her little sis. I understand that this part's probably been directly adapted from the novel, but sometimes I wish that the scriptwriters could have improved such plotholes. << End rant >>
Then QQ, Bao'er and Ning are together being traumatized by Sui brothers. Honestly, that infamous bathtub scene made my heart break for QQ and gave me heebie jeebies. Talk about good karma coming back to haunt you for the rest of your life. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Here's me hoping that their issues will resolve and my girls will get some temporary respite in the upcoming episodes.
PS: When Li'nan was raided, what happened to her uncle's family, especially her Grandpa? Are they alive?
PSSS: I like that both the leads are equally delusional. CY slapped YZ, and sent a divorce agreement, but she's one-upping about her matrilocal husband with strangers. There we have YZ fully embracing his role as Changning's "father", eating CY's candies, while completely ignoring the divorce letter.
I am with you. I do think what triggered the mean comments was his jealousy/fear of Sui YuanQing, not Song Yan.…
I didn't think about his jealousy being triggered by Sui YuanQing's comments but, on hindsight, that makes sense because he's about to leave her and their relationship is still a bit shaky right now. I still hope that Xie Zheng shows some growth in character. I'm with you on that.
All along he was Yan zheng, the red flag is Marquis Wu'an
I agree with you that FCY was also very petty. I was very surprised with her final reply that why should she wait for him. He just asked her to wait for one year. It isn't very long. Both of them behaved in a very out-of-character manner.
