The Empress knows CSS only loved LBY and regrets being so stern about LBY letting CSS go after the revenge takes place. 5 years later her last wish was to see CSS get married. CSS thought the Empress only wanted to see her get married to anyone so she asked the 5th prince but him and the other princes refuse her. YS tried to keep others from proposing as well and he proposed to her. After CSS accepts his proposal LBY returns because Empress wants to see him before she passes. She wants help reconnect them in her own way. At first LBY was going to just protect CSS from afar but when he sees her for the first time after 5 yrs he realizes he can't let her go. YS after finding out that LBY was willing to help his family so CSS could be happy and free of troubles agrees to break off their engagement. YS loves her but LBY's love is even deeper.
The revenge will come & go. I'm excited to watch LBY after the 5 years working on earning CSS's forgiveness and the final show down with our last villians before the HE. Hopefully we get a wedding scene after all the angst.

It should be fine with the adjustments they've made from the novel here and there. Massacre will start in 48. LBY falling off the cliff is 49. Last 6 to wrap up the story post massacre. The 5 years apart will be fast. In the novel it was short as well. Maybe 1 episode. The rest is him trying to win her back , Empress passing, and our final villians.

Seriously! There is still so much ahead. I'm guessing the blood oath will probably be next Thursday... It’s hard to tell how they'll adapt the rest. They've kept the key plot thus far.
I think the cliff scene will be the cliffhanger [pun intended] for EP 48. There's a lot of ground to cover still.
According to the calendar from ZLS studio for the drama that I had posted in photos there's a cliff emoji for episode 49-50. You can't zoom in on here unfortunately but in the actual picture it's clear. I think the 5 year will be short with the episodes that are left.

Lol... LY = Ling Yi which is LBY's fake dad. It's really his uncle. He felt hopeless at the moment he said it but as soon as he saw her. He regretted it. He'll spend the next 5 years regretting his decision & missing her. He will protect her from afar. Yuan Shen will eventually agree with breaking off the engagement when he realizes how deep the love between LBY & CSS is. Later YS gets married but he still sends CSS gifts and visits them.

His "mom" is really his aunt. She saved him so they can get revenge on her ex husband who killed their entire Hou clan. LY actually slit LBY's father's throat and took his head. It's all very tragic. LY's real son was accidentally murdered because they thought he was HBY which is why he has been able to live as his cousin all these years.
After he is saved from the cave. The Empress ask him if he has decided to give up CSS due to his action and he said yes not realizing that CSS was hiding behind the curtain. She tells him... you forced me to love you. I loved you. You forced me to depend on you. I depended on you and you just left me behind. It's so heartbreaking. I can't wait to see this scene adapted on screen. Then she ask the Emperor to break off their engagement and runs out. YS will be the one by her side when she is broken but she doesn't love him. He'll always love her though.
