Omfg, I just realized I never rated this after watching it a few months ago, but I give it a 10/10 for the humor, the realness, and the overall sweet friendships that I wish I had. Beautiful watch, please, anyone who loves mushy but not overly sweet should watch this because I had the best time of my life.
I hate when people call Tharntype "TOXIC" like NO DUHHHH. That was the POINT of the STORYLINE....every BL is not…
I loved Tharntype and I agree with you that the story itself is meant to be toxic, but I think I also know where the viewers come from seeing as I would have liked some adjustments (no hate) but I also loved the story as is, it's more of a personal struggle of whether you can separate reality from fiction - For example, Tharn in reality would be a grown man with lots of experience with healthy relationships with men and he knew that his and Type's relationship wasn't healthy and yet he was able to make the choice of staying with Type because he loved him. And those that say the show is only toxic clearly only watched season one, because season two is much better and even though some viewers didn't like the toxicity in the first season in all reality a real couple probably wouldn't give two shits what these people thought if they were in love. At the end of the day everyone has a personal opinion and as long as we respect that the world will be much happier. Moral: Just move on if you don't like a show someone else finds interesting. Don't like Tharntype? Okay, but don't bash other viewers for liking it. I agree with your comment, thank you for saying this.
P.S, Type learned how to love. He had that taken from him when he was younger and yes it's a bit weird that Type has a hate instead of a fear of gay men, but the brain is a mysterious thing and unpredictable, so yes, it is possible that he had a hatred not only from his past trauma but also within himself knowing he was gay subconsciously.
If you guys loved the show, you would definitely love the webtoon. It's extremely sweet, so much more detailed, and our boys go through life together in a more complex way - I really recommend reading the webtoon before or after this series. The series is good as well, I love the carefree and loving atmosphere because all throughout the webtoon Taesung is madly in love with Haebom. (p.s, the webtoon has really, really spicy and sexy scenes.)
