Hi, I'm on episode 19. What romantic elements are there between Liu Sui Feng and Qiu Shui? I'm a bit confused.…
Thank you! I finished it recently and found that Sui Feng and Quishi don't interact much after episode twenty lol. I could do without any romance, really, but it was easy enough to overlook.

Hi, I'm on episode 19. What romantic elements are there between Liu Sui Feng and Qiu Shui? I'm a bit confused. Is this a censored BL? Or maybe I just missed the bromance or haven't gotten far enough yet lol.

I enjoy a good BL (censored or not), but Liu Sui Feng is annoying me on a spiritual level.

Just watched this with my mom and it was so good! I enjoyed the adult-like, mature atmosphere and the fact that everyone was able to get the ending they truly needed and deserved.

I completely agree with you and im glad to have found a fellow hua yong hater
To be honest, I don't really understand what you mean. Teens are often heavily influenced by what they read and watch, so my point was that the glazing was due to the majority of ABO desire fans (who are not of a mature age) not understanding just how toxic or harmful the main couple's (and even the second) relationship was. I'm the last person to judge people for a drama they like, and being an adult now myself who was used to such negative media and portrayals I wanted to express that that may be a big reason no one really talked about it or excused it as a "loss of control" or "heat/rut driven" incident. The actors did phenomenal, I enjoyed the acting, and the actual story, but certain things I just wanted to discuss.

I agree, I wished they had been able to represent that world in a healthier way. We already have so much media that (not all the time but a majority of time) represents it negatively -- manga, manhwa, novels, fanfiction, etc...

I do not judge anyone for what dramas they enjoy, as they are indeed fiction, but I do feel it was necessary to point out just how problematic this man is lol I'm glad you don't like him either 🤣

I think the stats on MDL rating (idk how accurate they are) are pretty explanatory. Mostly 13-17 year olds have rated this drama, hence the glazing over the more morally dark aspects of it.

A small analysis on why I dislike Hua Yong, and Shen. But mostly Hua Yong.

Let's talk about it.

Now, as someone who has watched and read plenty of ABO-centric universes, and also enjoyed such universes, this wasn't hard to digest or understand.

However, I do feel the need to explain just how AWFUL Hua Yong is as a character and a person as a whole. Not to mention the abundance of non-con. You can excuse it by saying "biological factors impact their ability to control themselves," but let's break that down:

1. Hua Yong was purposely (excuse my crass wording) "bitching" Sheng Shaoyou. Pheromones forced on him, slowly but surely shifting him into heat, all without his consent. The public humiliation-- making him release aggressive pheromones in his company and ruining his image and reputation --, the emotional manipulation (countless lies and neverending lack of empathy and accountability, like when Sheng finds out the truth and all Hua Yong can think is "how can I make him forgive me so he is completely "over" what I see as a small inconvenience". You can always tell when people are ignoring the blatant toxicity and gaslighting in favor of enjoying the drama. Let's also talk about how Hua Yong saw absolutely nothing wrong with what he did, it was as he said, "necessary".

2. Rape. Rape. Hua Yong May not have had any control over himself during their first time, but the aftermath? That's insane. Not only did he disappear, he also made himself seem like he was willing to sacrifice his "freedom" in order for Sheng's father to have the medicine he needs, he also never apologized or felt guilty about his actions or how the impacted Sheng.

3. Shen Wenlang is an asshole, but his humor saved him a bit of my grace. I do not hate him as much as Hua Yong because he regretted sleeping with that omega in heat (Gap Tu), and he also felt he himself was taken advantage of because he lost control, even going as far as to accuse the omega of purposely targeting him. Hua Yong had no remorse, and not only that, when Sheng was forced into a heat, he took full advantage of the situation despite Sheng not wanting to be with him at that moment.

This is getting long, so let me wrap it up a bit: Hua Yong shows traits of psychopathy, not a psychologist but I've consumed enough media and read enough to know what some traits are -- he lacks empathy, lacks social cues, is obsessive, extremely arrogant, extremely confidence, has a superiority complex over everyone around him, and does anything, at the cost of anyone, to get what he wants... Being Sheng Shaoyou. Even if it means hurting the man he "loves" in the process. Not to mention he admitted to only loving his unborn child because it had part of Sheng's blood and that Sheng would be upset if he didn't love said child.

Chen Pinming and Gao Tu were extremely overlooked, and it was a pity. The potential of those two characters were wasted. Let me know what you think about any of this. I'm willing to listen.

Yes, definitely a valid point about the miscommunication. It's one thing to be confused about your sexuality (bisexuality exists and is never mentioned once to him), but it's another to just avoid it all together. He's been stringing Chi Cheng along so much, leading him on, just to push him away despite wanting the same thing.

Anyway, I like Xiao Shuai's character and his hidden spicy collections lol

I have watched up to episode 10.... I really tried to give Chi Cheng a chance. I'll continue to watch for the second couple but it's really not my cup of tea, and that's okay as long as others enjoy the drama for what it is. He alluded to raping Xiao Shuai if Suo Wei didn't get with him, which didn't sit right with me despite me knowing he actually might not do it, but that's a fear that I've always had as a woman -- the fear of rape or the threat of it as well. What do you think of what he said? Do you think he would really do it?

That part really caught me off guard, and I still don't understand why they HAD to include it in the first place.…
Exactly my thoughts. I'm at ep 9, and I enjoy the dynamic (minus a few concerning dialogues and actions), but I like the concept of the drama.

That's good to know! I feared the author was like MAME (no hate) who would keep writing such stories based on that toxicity and romanticizing it. Thank you both for your input and explanations, I'll let you know what I think :)

Believe me, I understand that he loves his snakes. I also know they're his way of life and not just pets, however, I only wished he had picked a different way to punish that person. At the end of the day, that boy only did as told by people way stronger and much more influential than him.

Also, my opinion shouldn't really matter that much, if anyone enjoys this, don't let me stop you. I just wanted to understand before I continued further.

Like I said, I will be giving it a chance, but as I also said, it goes against my morals as a human being. I feel like they could have made him do anything but that to make him seem just as awful- death, non-sexual torture, beating him. Vegas from KinnPorsche never even went as far as raping or condoning rape (the scenes with Pete were consensual), and I bring that up because someone said they were pulling a "Vegas" for Chi Cheng's character. I only wanted to express that to see if anyone else was feeling the same way as me, so I will be giving it a try and seeing it through. I'll let you know what I think about it.

I will look forward to Chi Cheng's character growth.

Okay, that's good to know. I still... feel a bit iffy towards him, and I don't know if you've watched it, but it gives me Tharntype season 2 vibes with Tor (Tar?) (I believe that's his name) and the whole arranged rape scene. I'll watch it and give it a chance, I just didn't understand the motive behind such a thing.

So... I may be misunderstanding something and granted I have only watched the first episode so far... but did he really just let men rape someone because he had something to do with his snakes being taken?

I just really don't understand everything?? I mean, I get anger, but letting a boy be raped because of a grudge? I don't know how I feel.

Let me know, because I mean, I need to understand.
