The age gap didn't bug me as much because nothing really happened until Toki was 18. Also, Sahara kept a pretty good distance between him and Toki until closer to the end of the second year, then eventually didn't attempt anything with Toki until after his graduation from high school so there wasn't that imbalance of power and authority, plus Toki is pretty strong-willed and wouldn't be pressured easily into anything he didn't want to do.
I have it a 7.5 because it seemed to drag and used a lot of stereotypical tropes in one drama, but I enjoyed the dramatics and the antics and the comedy. Toki carried the show with his honesty and blunt personality.
An interesting comment. I must say I agree with a lot of your points -- first of all, comparing the two is quite…
I don't mean to offend, I was just stating my opinion. I believe that you can appreciate the drama and also compare it to the novel respectfully, and I said that it's okay to compare the two since the novel is the raw material the drama is adapted from.
As for Ruan Lanzhu and the time jump, I will see if we can correct it. I do agree that others should respect the drama and those that worked on it, and I honestly did not expect it to have the same ending as the novel, so I wasn't surprised. However, not everything would be erased by NRTA permissions, so it is okay to have expected a similar ending to the novel without it getting flagged. However, everyone should be able to enjoy what they experienced first without being critisized, if you enjoyed the drama, that's okay, if you enjoyed the novel more... That is also okay. Everyone has preferences, as long as we can all talk and respect each other's opinions I don't believe that anyone should criticize others for what they like (as you said, there are people criticizing the drama because it isn't like the novel, which is wrong).
I appreciated talking to you, I like to discuss and swap opinions and ideas so this was fun!
Honestly speaking... I have a great empathy for this series. Many people compare it to the book [which is unavoidable]…
An interesting comment. I must say I agree with a lot of your points -- first of all, comparing the two is quite confusing, but I find it helpful to see if you would like to learn more about this special world without reading the novel. Also, I think the novel is a great source of raw material that the drama managed to bring to life in the best way it could.
I liked the comparison of the cheeseburgers, but don't necessarily agree. The drama is indeed different, but not extremely so, the plot is relatively the same, the events that happen are about 80% accurate and the characters are portrayed in a unique way. So, if one likes the novel and compares it, then I see why they do that because it is the source material. I do admit though, that the drama made the characters more humane.
I think the comparison depends on what you experience first-- those that watched the drama first might enjoy the novel less, and vice versa for those that read the novel first and had certain expectations. Thank you for that in-depth analysis, I enjoyed reading it 💕
I think some things that were left out in the novel v series:1. In the novel, players entered the game because…
Thank you for pointing that stuff out! I knew that, but just couldn't fit so much of that information in the article 😭
Also, Cho Na and Xiao Qilin were putting their parts in as well, so I didn't want to make my parts too long and have to cut it down. But these are definitely some good points for those that want to know more 😁
Do we think it's ever going to be put back on standard/mainstream/legal streaming sites?
Honestly, it might be, but even if it is it will be HEAVILY censored. Like heavily. More than it already was, they'll change a whole bunch so that there is no sign of homosexuality in it.
A few scenes were unnecessary and the acting wasn't the best, but it was adorable and it left me with happy feelings and I love these two together. Onoe's big eyes are adorable 🥺
I related to Watari on a... Disturbingly close level. I stay up late every single night because I feel like the later I stay up the slower the next day comes. I wake up every day feeling as though I don't even want to get out of bed, and dread being up and dealing with my routine life (I'm stuck, because of my current situation). Watari suffers from insomnia and burnout, he hates waking up, and he dreads the next day because it means he has to face reality all over again.
He has to be fake all over again. He has to do the same exact thing all over again. I feel like I have to be a peace maker all over again, I have to cook and stress all over again.
Watch this show, it's a relatively relaxing show and worth the time.
The BEST Ossan's Love series made. It tops every one. Haruta shows growth, self-improvement, and responsibility. Maki learns to communicate better with Haruta, and Kurosawa learns how to live for himself again. Wholesome and worth it.
But, watch Ossan's Love (2018) first in order to understand this one.
Coming back after a while just to say: This bl needs to be given a chance. I was skeptical to watch because how could they make a time loop interesting?
It was amazing. Every time loop was different and the story didn't drag, give it a chance and you'll love it.
Please put a spoiler, I read that without knowing 😭
No, it's okay. I didn't realize others were also just spoiling it in the comments below. Yours was the first one I saw and I hurried to watch EP 10 lol.
The chapters 1-139+ 2 extras are already translated and all free, but there aren't any more chapter uploaded yet.
On Zintranslations you can finish the novel (she hasn't translated all of the earlier chapters yet) chapter 137-139+ 8 extras: https://zintranslations.tumblr.com/kod
I'm subbing it too but to Arabic and I use the english subtitles files for it so I'm struggling with those machine…
I think Telegram has some pretty good subs, at least most of the episodes do. They're machine translated by Kisskh but way better than MyAsianTv or any other site I've tried.
It's a bit confusing without reading the novel, but it turns out that Ruan Nanzhu is a door god who had fallen so deeply in love with Lin Qui Shi, he wanted to actually become him. He changes into the image of Ruan Nanzhu, and helps Lin Quishi on his journey through the doors (the doors are not a choice, or a game, they are a requirement).
It's a happy ending, with Lin Quishi and Ruan Nanzhu ending up together, living their life and being happy even when remembering the death of their friends along the way.
I highly recommend the novel, it's so worth the tears and pain.
We understood in the game that his old friend Gao Da Wei (with a hoodie) created the game while studying abroad.…
I just finished and I'm heartbroken. I thought the show wouldn't be as sad (what I saw so far was very different from the novel at the time), and I definitely prefer the novel ending. I liked the survival aspect of the novel, and I enjoyed knowing that my favorite characters that died came back with a purpose snd got to live theif happy lives inside the door world. Plus RNZ gets to be happy with LQS.
Yixie gets to live with his brother, Zaozao gets to be happy, Li Dongyuan lives his life. Though I really loved this drama, and I'm glad I watched it.
