So, I thought this would cure my broken heart from the novel. It did not lol. I am still heartbroken and estranged, though the endings are completely different simply due to the whole game aspect.

I'll explain the ending of the novel if you want me to, I'll reply with a spoiler, but I'm gonna go to bed and cry more later.

I found the telegram subs, and they work so much better. Still machine translated, but way more literate and easy to understand. I think you'll have an easy time, especially considering you know some Chinese.

I was watching the one on MyAsianTV (awful) but now I'm trying Telegram to see if it has any better subs. And thank you for the clarification, I have a feeling I know why they're shown alive in those last few episodes, but I won't theorize quite yet.

Actually, I'm confused now. You said they don't die in real life in the drama, but in EP 8 the characters that died in the game died as well in real life. Maybe I'm just being impatient lol, please clarify (without too many spoilers pls)

Oh, no, it's totally fine. I had began to watch the drama, then stopped because of the subtitles, and decided to read the novel to get more information as I waited for some better subs (still haven't found any).

That little spoiler is fine, I'll still watch it when I find better subtitles. Maybe this show can cure my broken heart from the novel lmao

Damn, that's crazy. I didn't even know that they only died in the game in the drama, that kind of takes away the survival element I loved in the novel. The novel is very gory, descriptive and scary but I guarantee it's a great read.

I think the characters dying in real life just adds to the complexity of the novel. It makes you appreciate the characters more because they do die in real life. Though, I think the ending was worth the journey.

They don't get really close and personal until the later chapters (maybe 60+) but they always had a connection and Ruan Nanzhu changes a lot. I don't want to spoil it and tell you which chapter they officially got together, but I can if you want me to.

In the novel, there is no game. The doors are another world, you have no choice but to enter to survive, it only appears to certain people who are dying/on the brink of death. If you die in the Door World, you die in real life of either suicide, natural causes, your own illness, or murder. So, the characters that die in the door world do not come back alive.

But trust me, this novel is such a worthy journey of love, humor, and acceptance of the looming morality in us all. Truly a masterpiece.

I wouldn't say they're important or critical, but they sort of continue where the story left off with our main couple, and then they tell the story of a few characters that die along the journey. Overall, I think the extras just pieced everything together and comforted me after such an emotional rollercoaster.

The novel has a bittersweet, happy ending. A lot of beloved characters die, and your emotions will run crazy, but I think it was worth it. The extras just made it all the more better.

I found the extra chapters and read them before replying to you. I recommend the novel first, it will definitely give you a good basis for the drama and makes things more interesting. Though, from what I've watched of the drama, it isn't as gory or scary nor graphic as the novel (a given because of Chinese censorship), it's still good so far. As for the ending, I can only say that's up to your interpretation of a good ending. I found it quite bittersweet, but well-written and painful to let go of.

I'm currently reading the novel before the show and I cannot express how funny it is 🤣 poor Lin Quishi is so oblivious to Ruan Nanzhu's obvious affection and horniness lmao

Only thing I didn't like about this series is that the one character (won't name to avoid spoilers) is almost raped yet it's quickly dismissed and no one ever talks about it again or takes it as seriously as it should've been. That was one of the things that I didn't like, but I enjoyed the cuteness and the humor and comedy, plus the eye candy 🫠

Edit: I watched it a few months ago and just remembered that happening, so I thought I would warn those who want to watch it.

I knew this would most likely have a sad ending, but I still watched it and I don't regret it at all. No spoilers, but this drama is worth it. Life is fickle, death is unavoidable, and you can't beat mortality. This was a beautiful love story.

Title Sweet Home Season 2 Spoiler
Honestly, I quite liked most of it. I enjoyed the new monsters, the twist with Yi-Kyung's pregnancy, and the mind blowing twist at the end of the show. I just hate that it didn't focus as much on Hyun-Su, though I loved seeing Eun-Yu progress and become even more badass, I hated Jisoo dying, along with Su-Yeong, however, I believe season 3 will do justice. This really shows you that humanity cannot either become the worst or best version of itself, but a mixture of both.

Do I think humans should hate monsters for being monsters? No. But do humans have a valid point? Yes, most monsters can't control themselves and end up killing others. However, I do think that government could have done a lot better with managing and studying these creatures without treating them the way they did.

It was a good season, I'm glad my baby boy is back at the end, and I like seeing Hyun-Su become confident yet still hold his values and morals close. A good watch, really moving, and I enjoyed the eye candy 👀ðŸ«
