i kind of get where you're coming from. It might have to do with Ren Min looking & sounding young, and although her character is clever and independent, her character is still very feminine and sweet, which is different from the common 'headstrong' leads such as in "Blossoms in Adversity".
From what I have seen so far, she's a really convincing younger sister but I've yet to reach the part where she transitions into being a lover. Hopefully she pulls it off!

yes, it's expected to have a slow burn on the romance side of things because it would be clumsily handled otherwise. I was skeptical about the 'fake siblings to lovers' trope because it is tricky to navigate, but this show has paced it well so far.

i don't mind a male centric story if the women aren't just bimbos or props - and they have definitely given the women much more depth this season, from fan sizhe's mom to wan er and ruo ruo.
