Because Dong Man is an open book.

When we become adult, we are pressed by society to hide our emotion. We learned to when to say our mind, and how to say it. When to sugarcoat our words, or when to be ruthless.

Dong Man is not. He openly said what he have to say, no filter, no correction, and whenever he can to, no timing consideration. Wether if his friend in bad mood, or bad situation, he cant read that. He just speak what is in his mind.

What made worse is, Dong Man is like a mirror, he reflected back how people treated him. If people are nice to him, he'll nice to them, vice versa.

That clouded his judgement when criticizing his friend's work, especially to Gyeong Se.

And annoying friend is really not understatement. We always have that kind of friend in our group, or our circle.

Like i said, as a stranger, you find Dong Man totally annoying. But when you get to know him, he is still annoying, but less annoying. You'll know he have good heart, loyal friend, and always have stories to tell.

He is not total evil or angelic person. Just that kind of friend who are spontaneous and maybe paint your day.

they are childish, i refer they as Dong Man and Gyong Se. really not mature like expected from 30+ yo people.
But, there is but. I kinda understand, they're artist, they have their ego, they different than common people.

And they can be childish among their closed friends. You can take off some of your mask among your closed friends. But as closed friends, they cant openly critics Dong Man, because they affraid it'll destroy him, other reason is they felt guilty for what they done to Dong Man.

Thats what i find this drama fun, its like watching conflict inside this group, watching it in the front row seat.

Dong Man is the most talk-active person among them. As a stranger, you found him annoying.

They constantly changing seat, but still near you, so you still can heard their separated stories from different perspectives.

Then you pay more attention to them, especially Dong Man. He is no longer annoying for you, he is the main source of your informations, then with more stories revealed, you grew sympathy for him.

I won't say your journey get better, but you get to know more about them. You'll know Dong Man more, and why he acted like that.

i found it too when reading comments about Can This Love be Translated. Go Youn Jung and her characters she played are all adult, even with age gap, why it'll be an issue?

well im about halfway when i questioning that.

It never explained till ep10. But i guess he is bullied or have a no friend before in college.
He stated that other than Jun-Hwan, Eun-A is the 2nd person whom visited his house.

But people around him know he can't live alone, because he love to talk, express his emotions, and tell story, which he'll need someone to listen.

He'll die if he can't tell what is in his mind.

Then Eun-A came into his life, someone who can listen to him, laugh to his story even its not meant to be funny story.

Relationship, and romance may not develop his empathy, but it'll restart his engine. His confidence grew with it.

i understand if Dong Man want to punch him. Any normal people would feel the same. But what Choi delivered to Dong Man, is a critics.

Both Eun-A and Choi critics to Dong Man, is constructive, because both offer a solution.

Choi criticized about Dong Man's career choice, while Eun-A criticized about Dong Man's script.

What you mistaken is, Choi's critics is less professional, what Eun-A did is professional one.

For me, Dong Man is the antithesis of the traditional male archetype. Our society have some expectation of male, it may slightly different in each culture, but still the same overall.

Male expected to be a provider, protector. So, male are expected to be strong, in any meaning: financial, mentality, physical, intelligence, etc.

This societal expectation is often heightened through dramatic exaggeration like in popular drama.

I dont know with any other viewer, but for me i don't really enjoy this drama fully, because of Dong Man.
For me, he is weak, in many meaning.
He is unorthodox protagonist.
