It's a story of a woman surviving all kinds of harsh circumstances. The main theme is her motto ... survive first before you try to do anything else. Live ! Which isn't easy when you are an indentured slave for a wealth, powerful, political/military family. This is what it's like for the MC and her friends who are among the lowest of the low in society.
Plus he knew he was in love enough to propose and spoke to his mum about it right after LanXiang gave him the…
Ha! Yes ! We've all seen The Double (and how many more of these cases) so now we don't have to feel bad when the surface level perfection of scholar Han's proposal gets superseded by an Imperial decree. This is good. :-) TY !!!
well....this is a turning point in the show. Starting to treat us as the audience and the MC characters as fools.…
Actually, killing her to get her out of the MLs life isn't much different than exterminating a half dozen maids because they might maybe have heard something and there's a possibility that they might know something that they would be stupid enough to gossip about to the outside world that they never see. Killing chattel is meaningless to people who don't see slaves or commoners as being more than ants to step one. And no they won't change their mind because she's gone up a very small notch in the world.
FL is, after all, just a maid, sub-human not worth the paper that they presume she can't write her name on. Killing her to get her out of the MLs way is no big deal. And he can't be serious about her anyway because she was just one of his slaves so it's not like he'll be bothered much by them removing her. She could only be a crafty woman and a fling.
So, why bother to make her a concubine when you can just get rid of her permanently.
But it's kind of nasty to say that her IQ dropped just because she has relaxed enough not to be totally paranoid 24/7. By all rights she should be safer now. And why make so much about being kidnapped twice. If you look at what happened, she wasn't being stupid when she was caught. She just didn't expect it because she had no reason to.
Me thinks you are making mountains out of molehills. At least at this point.
You know how this drama is written by women is when all the female characters are centred around the struggles…
I always wonder when I see a woman going for the big strong dude who can presumably protect her. Because who will protect her from that big strong man if he starts to use his strength against instead of for her.
So, let's all go for the very sweet, very smart skinny guys instead. Much less scary.
Anyone rmb what Miss Du said during her confession of her being the culprit of poisoning Lin family? Something…
Plus he knew he was in love enough to propose and spoke to his mum about it right after LanXiang gave him the valuable introduction to the famous scholar.
But what she said when she gave it to him may be just as important as the gift itself. She said she was giving it to him because she wouldn't need it, for all the small things he'd done for her family, which would make them even. I mean she really bent over backwards to make him feel free to take such a big gift.
So, did he hear it as ... she can be a great help to me but will not demand much for herself in return.
Ok then ! TY. I needed to be able to see something that didn't make him look so perfect and your comment laid it out so clearly for me. She'll be low maintenance to him but she'll be working her fingers to the bone for him.
He knows that the orchid is extremely important to his boss and guesses correctly that it's more important than…
Oh the poor thing !!! I mean the plant and the young master. Did we all figure out if we're getting episodes tomorrow? I'll be lovesick without them and WeTV doesn't show anything. tears
The writing in this show is so good that it feels like scholar Han and the FL are perfect for each other and it’s…
They do seem to be perfect for eachother. But I'm beginning to wonder if Han is really all that or we just don't know about some horrible underbelly traits that he's hiding. What do you think? Too perfect? Like a 5 tael apartment? Actually, I'll start. He's supposed to be smart but he has a really goofy perma-smiley face and he sometimes seems a bit slow to me ...
As far as she knows the plant is from her friends, not from her good ex-boss. That was the only time she met the…
Ah. About the plant ... If subtitles can be trusted. He first says the plant is from her friends. Then he says he split it and is giving her a piece. After which she takes an extra beat with some confusion on her face before she finally says something about getting a plant from her friends.
So, I'm thinking she's either confused about whose gift it is or she knows its from him and has decided to not acknowledge that and just gloss over it.
So, up to this point (when he's visited more than a couple of times ... why? )... she may not have registered anything since it's basically preposterous ... now maybe she's starting to realize that he might have an interest in her ... but what kind because it can't lead to anything good. Which means its a passing fancy? ... a mistake in judgement? ... the beginnings of some serious troubles? and she's decided to duck, ignore, play dumb to avoid awkwardness and trouble. At least that's my read. I think the problem has finally at least skirted her imagination.
Why would Manyi go berserk and hold a sword to LX's neck in the preview trailer ? Normally people like her uses…
I haven't read the novel and I don't have any special access to actual spoilers ... but I bet you are exactly right. Although I wonder why she would kill instead of kidnap and go for ransom (like please don't prosecute and kill my daddy and I'll give you back your loved one). But maybe it's beyond that point and kill for revenge has become the only option.
Has anyone noticed that the worker in the opera troup who bumped into XLX & kidnapper may be the deposed crown…
Yep the suggestion was strong and I think that LJQ may have noticed like we did. That's why he was offering to get the man out of there unseen to safety.
Regarding why the Zhao want to catch him? To suck up to the king in case he doesn't die anytime soon. To keep their hold on power by maintaining the status quo at the palace.
Plus they obviously want to influence who the next king will be ... so having a contender come out of the woodwork ? someone that they don't control? well that's a variable they just don't want.
And, if they decide to go with the current CP because he somehow becomes more controllable, they'll want to do him the favor of eliminating his competition. And probably other stuff I haven't thought of ...
Why does this series only have 8.7 stars? It’s a gem! From storyline, plot, to acting and character development……
There are people who rate all of the individual episodes as low as possible and put in overall ratings before a drama even begins. So, if you want to help get the rating up, you can also submit your ratings for each episode and for the whole thing as the drama is aired. You can always revise down if you change your mind but, the interim number we see above is calculated on those interim ratings. In fact, if you go into the Episodes tab at the top, you can see how the low ratings for episodes that haven't aired yet, skew the line to make the drama look like it's not good or its falling off in quality. Anyway, it sucks that people do such sabotage but ... well ...
It is certainly a top quality drama so, I think, the high ratings eventually will win out for this one but it doesn't always work that way for things that are good but not great for a lot of people. Good stuff gets hidden.
