The amount of times I've come back to check whether this has been subbed yet is getting kind of sad...

I agree about the darkness underlying this series. That's what I like most about it. Someone could pull a weapon…
Gosh, you guys had me literally screaming with these weapon/creepy sci-fi references! I definitely did not even think about ANY of this while watching the episodes (Nam-Goong's comedic relief is deceptive) but now that y'all are mentioning this... the story really DOES have a sinister, eerie undercurrent. It's as if everyone's mask is about to slip, and we're about to go all Stephen King on this story. It also doesn't help that this dark subtext is contrasted with that colorful cinematography and that flawless make-up. Creepy! I really wonder if this is the actual intention of the director or if this is just the byproduct of actors that are simply still honing their craft.

Subtle and nuanced, worth a watch for sure! Elijah Canlas is definitely getting his name out there in the Pinoy movie scene (I've only seen him star in quality productions so far) and Joel Saracho's acting is as solid as ever. Loved the little details he incorporated, like the way his body language changed over the span of the story.

This series showcases what Japanese screenwriters do best: creating plot-driven stories with original, suspenseful plot twists and occasional dramatic one-liners. The anti-hero trope works well in this series, and the overall acting is solid. What I do miss in series like this is character development: from the first episode onward we have been thrust into an action packed story where there is little space for learning the characters' backstory or personality. Although each character does have their own charm, I feel like we aren't fully able to connect with their feelings and internal drives and that causes them to come across a bit flat. The ending does suggest we might be getting a second season so there is probably potential for things to become more engaging later on!

I hated absolutely everything about this. How did the director come up with a story like this after taking part in so many other LGBTQ+ productions? The acting is decent but the script itself should have been burned (and fed to Hades' loyal guard dog). I'm not so much bothered by the fact that all characters are inherently unlikable and problematic (that is kind of the point of the story) but I hate the fact that their actions are used for an overarching message that seems to suggest: "You think the gays suck? Well yeah, darn right they do, but actually... the straights suck as well." Worst of all, this message is brought with an air of triumph, like this realisation can single-handedly overcome structural marginalization and discrimination. It seems the director wanted to showcase that it is not sexual orientation that makes one a shitty person but, rather, that life is just filled with morally questionable people in general. But this does not diminish that now the movie seems to claim "homophobia doesn't exist anymore because we now realise humanity in general is trash! Glad we can get this out of the way." Heck no. Don't waste your time watching this.

Namgoong is, hands down, the best comedic relief character I've seen in a while! For real, this dude gets me hollering every single time he opens his mouth.

If you play the game, there too it's often stated by them that the student council thing is ridiculous XDApart…
True, but if I remember correctly they did add a replacement character with an identical name! He shows up at the beginning of episode 3 (the dude with a crush on Su-Jin).

Pretty solid. Nothing too unique or unexpected since it doesn't add anything new to a trope I've seen countless times before ( especially the ending could have had more depth) but it was a nice watch nonetheless.

Omg okay but Jaerim does actually exist in the drama too! He's shown up a few times and I've been breaking my brain to try remember the name of the actor. I swear I've seen this dude in a previous Korean BL show!

Wow, this was quite an ambitious film: no sweet romance, only destruction. Wrath and pain galore! The story tries to do a lot: it challenges the boundaries between gender and sexuality all while also addressing topics like (self)acceptance, societal pressure, and agency. Definitely much darker than I initially anticipated but I ended up appreciating the raw, desperate brokenness of each character. Especially Peace Yang, who I have only seen in lighthearted roles, impressed me with the way she was able to balance more violent and stereotypical 'masculine' character traits with emotional vulnerability and sadness. The ending was not all that surprising considering those black-and-white scenes but it was still ambiguous and bittersweet enough to make you think twice.

woah when are they releasing this
This year still, according to latest news (from April)! Apparently they had some major setbacks due to COVID so there is no official release date as of now.

Sorta torn between appreciating this movie for its solid storytelling and making fun of its choice to have the parasite be his right hand lol ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Edit: I'm legit surprised by the quality tho. Usually manga adaptions fail to capture the complexity of their original work and, although I did not read the manga itself, I didn't feel like I was missing out on some crucial info (which was a first for me). I was truly having a blast watching this! Also, that OST is everything!

I finished this in under two hours. I found this so boring to the point I stopped paying attention to what was…
As someone who skipped through the first 2 episodes before dropping this mess I def appreciate the concise summary lol. This was something.
