For the considerable time invested to watch this movie, I would have appreciated greater character growth on the part of the mother. Just because something bad happened to her daughter, didn't mean she had to micro-manage her son. His decision to love from afar (to keep her happy) was not a worthwhile end, and the whole thing left me feeling annoyed.
