The discussion about Karl's dance further down is interesting, but a difficult subject to discuss. You will have…
Karl seems to have been supressing his feminine side since he seek his father's approval. In the first episode, Karl's dad almost made a homophobic remark regarding his gay Uncle Santi (who he is close to) for having a hard time when he did their family tradition of living alone as a right of passage. His Mom interrupted before he finished that sentence. Something along the lines: "see? It's easy for us "real men" to survive on our own."
Last episode Karl said Vlad made him braver and now fight for what he wants? Now that the ice has been broken after finally standing up for himself after his confrontation with his father, he now feels the freedom to embrace who he really is for the first time in his life, at least in closed doors.
Your internalized homophobia is off the charts. I would skip your comment if it weren't so ignorant. So what if…
explain to me how this is bad for teens that are struggling with sexual identity. which part? because honestly i'm not sure what you watched. I'd like to see what you think is harmful as a gay person myself.
Your internalized homophobia is off the charts. I would skip your comment if it weren't so ignorant. So what if…
lol that was my point. These are surface level details you missed you couldn't even grasp to begin with. If you hadn't skipped those "boring" scenes then you would've caught why the characters are who they are.
Assuming most viewers mostly into it are teens because they don't align with yours is funny though. My Day would be more so for teens than GSP as it tackles more mature subject and is more plot-oriented than My Day which is like 50% making out/sex scenes. Not even HBO have that much making out/sex scenes in an episode lol. I mean really, you consider that "great" over the plot-oriented BLs? You mentioned Hallmark. My Day would sell on Hallmark viewers 100% because that cable channel is mainly targeted towards 14-39 women and most of their shows are generic stuff lol.
OMG. It flew over my head until my second watch that Vlad doesn't like to celebrate his birthday not because he shares it with Jesus, because that's the same day his dad left him for being gay IN FRONT OF HIS FRIENDS. Vlad doesn't want anyone touching his hair not because he cherished his last moments with his dad, but because he equated that to people leaving his life forever. And now. Karl is rewriting that painful memory for Vlad. I AM SOFT. I WILL MURDER ANYONE WHO HURT VLAD. FU VLAD'S DAD!
looks gay? How do you judge from someones look or moves if they are gay? So a girl doing "masculine" dances is…
Lol. This is much closer to reality than you think. You just don't understand what real gay people go through in life after seeing so much BLs targeted towards straight women. Those aren't real gay stories. Those are gay stories to appease women's m/m fantasies.
Your internalized homophobia is off the charts. I would skip your comment if it weren't so ignorant. So what if…
Because he's been suppressing his true self due to mounting pressure from his parents, mostly his possibly homophobic dad (based on how he treats his gay uncle) who has been imposing the life his deceased big brother could have had on him. You clearly don't understand his character. idk how you even gotten to ep 6 without understanding this. This is surface level. You don't even have to go deep into the intricacies of their character to understand this.
The way I cried. The way I screamed. The way I fell in love. I am blown away by Gaya Sa Pelikula. This just became my all-time favorite BL dethroning UWMA.
The amount of character development of Karl, Vlad. and Judit in one episode. God Tier.
If Shake actually dies what a fucking disaster of a life he has had. He had no one in his life and when it was finally looking up, it abruptly ends because of Ken's mom's homophobia triggered by a what? a fucking jealous best friend? People like Sandee are the worst.
Ben x Jim is about to give me a strong second lead syndrome in a BL for the first time lol. Olan and Ben look better together. I'll take care of you Jim >,<
Uhmm... Quarnthings? Ben X Jim? They have high view counts.
Yeah they do. Ben X Jim also stars mainstream actors AND from one of the bigger studios in PH. Quaranthings is also doing well, but not ahead of GSP. Im saying that GSP is performing at the same level as those series that stars mainstream actors so it is a hit for Globe Studios as Gameboys did when it was airing along Hello Strangers.
Wow Ep 5 is currently at 720k views on its fifth day. Globe Studios has a HIT hit.
Ep 1: 1.1m Ep 2: 852k Ep 3: 824k Ep 4: 783k Ep 5: 720k
That's really good for a single 20-30 minute full episode. I think overall the only PH BL ahead of it in terms of first 7-day viewership is Hello Strangers, but that stars mainstream actors, so GSP is doing great. Gameboys was doing 600k in 7 days by the end of the first 10 episodes last I remember. I wouldn't be surprised if JMS already started drafting the second season.
I agree with some of what you said. I really don't like how people are trying to turn BL into LGBT media. LGBT…
This is the disconnect between long time BL fans and PH BL fans. Most Filipino BLs are obviously shying away from primarily targeting straight women and instead, boosting stories and experiences of actual LGBT members. A lot of creators in the Philippines who are actual gays that have been deprived of telling stories of their own and has been shunned to tell stories of straight people for decades.
BL wave in the Philippines literally started this year with 2gether. There isn't a substantial long time BL fans in the country. BL was the ticket for queer creators to say "enough is enough, it's time to tell my story" and clearly, it resonated with audiences in the country and worldwide. It is a chance for queer creators and actors to finally let loose and be who they are and that's beautiful.
The goal of most Filipino BL creators is to normalize seeing gay love for everyone, not just create a fantasy content for straight women and milk them dry. The goal is different, so the product is different. And since Filipino BLs started strong with Gameboys being the first successful one and was created and directed by a queer person, the standard is different for the rest of BLs coming out of the Philippines. If you look closely at the dialogues in Filipino BLs, it teaches the audience lessons in dealing with gay people and gay love. The commercialization of gay love and at the same time suppressing voices of actual gay people just doesn't sit with Filipino BL audiences anymore after the strong debut of BL in the Philippines.
My Day is just so Thai BL-like that it just isn't resonating to a few PH BL fans for not seeing proper gay representation as with other PH BLs. It has substantially more international audience because it is the closest thing to a "fantasy" series.
oof. lots of seemingly unnecessary characters. what's up with Kaloy's sister or cousin? why she gotattitude? Why does both parts have opening and ending credits?
Great setting and cinematography can only get you far. Acting needs work and lighting - it's too dark even on daylight. How can someone's nanny not recognize the child they looked after for years (even after growing older)
Can someone help them with YouTube uploads? They aren't on time and subs that they have isn't being uploaded at the same time. Even though i can speak the language the bg is louder than the dialogues on some parts so eng sub would help. Like I said yesterday, audio mixing needs work and dubbing is unnatural. Definitely worse than Mek on My Engineer. but at least they have proper excuse, him being chinese so they need to hire a dubber for him. Lakan don't have that excuse.
Couples chemistry is great though. with just that stare scene to end the episode pulled me back in. Cute real-life couple!
Great cinematography but audio needs some work. Some scenes was clearly dubbed (earlier scenes) and some scenes have very low audio. It's so weird hearing pure tagalog conversations on a series lol. Loved it overall! Hopefully they are able to fix their technical difficulties soon along with the english subs. thumbnail says 1/2 but credits rolled at the end of the 13 minute pilot? I'm confused. Some of the actors sounded like they were reciting a poem when it probably shouldn't. Particularly the guy holding a snake while talking to the lead.
I kept going back and forth between what was worst the editing or the directing?I think that scene should have…
Yeah him and Miko is wasted here. I really hope they change director, scriptwriter and editors for the next season. Even campy shows have a bar to meet.
