IKR, he doesnt deserve all this. Holding back his feelings when someone like him finally realized what he is feeling. its really cruel. but its also huge on his part. But I mean i will literally throw hands if they try to taint his character by pulling out the aggressive-2nd-male-lead-lover card to make NDS look good.

I think she'd be aware of his heart but she'd stick to NDS. I also think that SDM would read his feelings if HJP doesnt try to conceal himself too much in the future. Remember when she asked HJP in the rooftop scene that she even misunderstood his gestures of helping samsan tech as something he is only doing to impress her because he might think of her as a girl? Many were confused because her claim didnt make any sense, if he had feelings for her why would he help dosan to impress sdm... i mean what made her think that way.
But your theory actually makes a lot of sense and thats why it scares me because that is what we usually see in the kdrama world. :(

Oh and yes same to the last part. but i think their relationship has somewhat grown so they'll try to resolve this slowly in the future .. ·-·

HJP stans arent HJP stans if they throw hate at the grandma after what she said to our good boy in ep09. It makes sense from her p.o.v and I LOVED how he threw a tantrum in front of her and then eventually considered what she said to him and decided not to spill the truth abt the letters or abt his feelings to SDM but to hand over the letter to NDS.
How the truth came to light was just so satisfying. Obviously the whole fandom would be killing each other if it came from any of the two leads. Nobody couldnt come up with the perfect way or the perfect person who'd tell her the truth.. in short idk what im saying. I just want to say that I loved the last scene. I loved it so much.

Fam! I love this. Thank you for putting it into words for me. Obviously he isnt the endgame though i'd want him to be. But he can have his own story too. I loved how he considered the grandma's words and stopped himself from being the stubborn-so-in-love-2nd-male-lead. Also I loved how you said grandma's the one who made him the "good boy"

This episode made me go from laughing my ass off to cursing out loud at 4am in the morning, near the end. This has been the most satisfying and thrilling episode so far, things made sense and felt real.
I especially loved the part where we see HJP reading the letter and in the background we hear dalmi's narration of the letter which said, "Back then, I believed that you existed. Now I want to believe that you exist. I miss you. So I think It's time for me to find you, Nam Dosan." and then we see them facing each other at the place where it all started. The confusion and frustration on dalmi's face, HJP's inability to say anything and NDS's anxiety. It all showed on their face. I LOVED IT I LOVED EVERY BIT OF THIS SCENE.
I felt something would happen when SDM mistook her grandma's phone as hers and when HJP sent grandma a text telling her that he'll give the letter to dosan.. just took me some time connecting these two together and God i screamed too loud lol. This might be the only episode where i felt this weirdly satisfied. My heart was beating so fast that I thought It'd explode any moment now. This episode made me laugh, it also made me cry and then it almost made my heart drop to my stomach. The feeling when you know what is going to happen in the next few minutes and knowing that you've been waiting for this and also knowing how huge it will be, the weird, nerve-racking feeling that makes you gasp in utter surprise when you realize that its finally happening. Just.. WOW.

um i believe that the lies in the letters actually doesnt do HJP any good, he doesnt benefit from them, the lies dont add any silver stars to his personality. by mentioning the birthday i meant he couldve faked it too since his identity was also fake too. i mean i just dont go around telling everyone my birthday maybe its just me whos like that.. plus maybe he never thought about his birthday wish since nobody has ever asked him about it..? He has just came out of an orphanage, frustrated looking for a place to stay with the little money he was given and then a grandma suddenly forces him to pretend to be friends with this girl.. maybe he never had the experience of sharing what he felt with others... i mean there are a lot of maybes but we'll probably see what the letters meant to him or how invested he was in this act in the upcoming episodes

Oh and yes I do agree about how you have explained their personalities. I think this is what that makes the plot so interesting.

i mean she gives off that mean-elder-sister-who-throws-harsh-reality-checks vibe and for some reason i like that.

yall literally stop fighting... the repeated issue i see regarding HJP is that how he shouldnt claim ownership of the letters or of the feelings that SDM has for the person in letters because grandma helped him with them and everything. but come on we all know how his character is written.. grandma started this all no doubt but after that they wrote to each other on their own. the contents werent accurate but he just added anything that could help console her. he was honest with his birthday you see. so some ppl just want to get this point across. when it comes to NDS and the lie thing.. i really have no one to blame but the writer. the characters are written like that, if i ever point out some character i don't mean to degrade the actor. dont take it too personally. its all the writer's fault that we're at each others' throat lol

p.s i recently took a break from kpop fandom and shifted to kdrama fandom because kpop was becoming too messy and there were always some fanwars going on .. i never knew kdrama has fanwars too ??

What surprises me after watching last ep was how romance has become central to the whole plotline I mean just now we were discussing business wth happened all of a sudden.. is the writer following the standard kdrama breakdown that says a romantic kiss is a MUST in ep7-8..?

But the problem is some dont even believe that HJP wrote the letters. Thats the conflict right now. I think hjp tried to tell sdm about the whole lie but was stopped by nds and then after sometime the grandma hinted not to tell sdm about her vision loss saying that she'd like to see her smiling, to which I think nds concluded not to tell SDM even about the letters.. and everytime she mentions the past or the letters to NDS, I feel super uneasy about how nobody is telling her that shes being fooled rn.

Literally thank you for sharing this, though I still think a little differently, but your view on this whole scenario has made me feel a little comfortable with all thats going on. It just hurts to see how she believes everything so easily and everything that has been motivating her to do better in life is basically just a lie. That is the only thing that bothers me rn. Obviously there are reasons and lessons behind every action and event, I just hope that they wont drag it any longer or that they reveal it in a manner that can decrease the intensity of her pain.

I thought that they'd be exploring this first tbh the whole sudden romance is too much for me, I knew it'll happen but lol It left me surprised.
Im really looking forward to that arc, I think we'll get to see a lot of charachter growth there.

That makes a lot of sense, but im guessing it'll all be too late by the time he realizes this and then he'll be left with the good guy character like in every drama. I wont be complaining, as long as he and the grandma stays happy together
