i absolutely love this drama. i find myself constantly chuckling at all of the absurdities and slapstick humor. it's the one drama i look forward to weekly.
I think its either their making it as self-defense or its just a theory the police came up with. but im on the…
I thought Jong Woo only killed Moon Jo according to the police, so they attributed that one death as self defense. But for the other 3, the police thought Moon Jo was the killer. It's those 3 deaths that I'm wondering how the police wasn't able to tie back to Jong Woo with forensics.
What I don't understand is how the police overlooked Jong Woo's fingerprints on the murder weapons if he was the one that actually killed everyone. And wouldn't their blood be on his clothes and hands? Am I missing something or was that just shoddy police work?
JW - just be homeless. It’s better than living with people who you know are not normal. It’s obvious you’re…
Reference Jong Woo – Yes! He should just be homeless! Lol. But while he protests his creepy goshiwon-mates, I'm starting to believe he subconsciously relates to some of their disturbing tendencies. I think Jong Woo is in the midst of mentally unhinging -- he recognizes the signs that something is wrong at Eden House, but is unable to trust instinct and just get out of Dodge asap. I still can't believe he decided to move there in the first place.
WHY ARE PEOPLE SAYING IT IS A COPY OF HOLLYWOOD SHOW AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME!A COUPLE DAYS AGO SOMEONE…
I agree. S. Korea isn’t copying Hollywood. We are living in an era of globalization and as such, all countries, including the USA, are adopting and integrating television and movie concepts from other parts of the world. In recent years, S. Korean TV and film companies have larger budgets due to increased revenue from international viewership. More money means they can experiment with other production styles from across the world and give us dramas that are less formulaic and cliched. I see this as a good thing.
Exactly this....."The new dramas? That stuff feels like homework I haven’t finished...." Thankfully there are a few gems each year that are well written and give us something "new-ish," but regrettably the majority of dramas don't stray far from the same cliched framework. These overused tropes may have been a novelty when I first starting watching k-drama, but now it's just downright boring. Lately I find myself returning to American programming.
I almost gave this a pass because the description made the drama sound kind of blah. So glad I decided to give this a go. Interesting, down to earth, and addresses real-life issues. What a gem!
is it worth watching for a romance drama lover like me? or will I just be disappointed?
This is an action/thriller/mystery/crime drama. There is a connection/chemistry between the two leads, but at the moment you can't really classify it as romance....and I'm not really sure the writers will pursue a romance route (or be able to) the way the story is going. If you're only in it for romance, look elsewhere. But as with all dramas, things could change...ask again once the drama has ended.
Seems like comments are divided. Some like it, others find it confusing. For me, I'm glad the writers decided on giving us a slow unfold. Yes, it gets a bit convoluted at some parts, but that's also what I'm enjoying -- being kept on the edge of my seat as I try to theorize and figure out the puzzle pieces. I'm choosing to ignore the bits that scream "cliche" or are written out of convenience, because overall I still find the story interesting and for once, I'm looking forward to the ending.
What a beautiful drama. I'm so glad we didn't get the typical rom-com we were all expecting -- there's enough of those. Instead we were taken down a winding path that brought tears to my eyes as we saw the human condition unfold in all of its facets. Creative story, inspired acting and a well-rounded cast.
I loved his character in Cheongdamdong Alice and Another Miss Oh. And I've enjoyed watching him on Problematic Men as well. He's one of those actors that flies under the radar, but is always an excellent addition to any cast.
Duel definitely didn't garner the number of viewers it deserved. Other great dramas that may have rated well but don't have a huge number of folks that actually watched it are: Children of Nobody, Dear My Friends, Life on Mars, Avenger's Social Club, Miracle that we Met, Live, Queen of Mystery, Woman of Dignity, The Guest, Kingdom and Sky Castle.
Dramas that are thought-provoking and a challenge to figure out always have mixed reviews. But it's these out-of-the box thinking dramas that take you on a fantastic ride -- visually, artistically and conceptually. Memories executed all of this well. And as many have mentioned, Hyun Bin as Jin Woo was incredible. Sure, there were flaws, but not enough for it to impact my enjoyment of the overall drama.
Those are all cute feel good dramas -- especially Eulachacha Waikiki! Looking through my own list, the ones that still resonate and bring a smile to my face are: Age of Youth, Chief Kim, Coffee Prince, Dear My Friends, Dream High, Father is Strange, Hit the Top, Let's Eat, Prison Playbook, Reply Series. The key for me is when they involve friendships, family, comedy and/or slice of life.
