Id love to love this series, but p1eople may hate me for saying this but this series is so awfully slowpaced,…
I may not agree with your assessment of the overall show, but I agree about It. His character development is really over the top. He isn’t super horrible, just a crappy friend who’s jealous of his friend being close to someone else.
The pacing is slower, as you said, but I am enjoying the properly fleshed out characters. It’s easy to see/understand the emotions of all characters, and they are not one note. They’re all pretty sweet, also, which brings a smile to my face each episode.
Same here, My top drama are “Cherry Magic” and “I Told Sunset About You” and this is third place hahaha,…
How is Amore? I initially had it in my list of things to watch, but eventually decided to skip it for now. I’m literally watching more than 20 BLs atm, so I have to be mindful of not getting bogged down, LOL. After all, I’m sure many of us are awaiting four of the upcoming BLs the most, as much as I am:
1. TharnType: Season 2 2. Gen Y 3. Tonhon Chonlathee 4. Manner of Death
If I’m not mistaken, Manner of Death is releasing this month also? I’m so excited!
After this Filipino BL explosion this year, I hope it leads way to higher quality ones being released next year. We’ve had an onslaught of them, and not all of them have been great. But I love to support LGBT content, so I try to give anything that looks interesting a shot.
OMG, episode 7 was amazing. The chemistry between Tin and Sea was off the charts! If (and I mean when, and they BETTER) kiss, I may actually faint. Coming from a person who has seen virtually all BLs, I think Tin and Sea’s sweetness with each other is quite touching. I think Tin is definitely sweet on Sea, and I think Sea is unconsciously into Tin.
I felt sad for Tin because he didn’t deserve to lose all his friends like that. But in all honesty, It has been acting like a real tool since Sea’s been at GFC, and no one should treat their friends the way It has been treating Tin. From the flashback in this episode where It asked about the embroidery in Tin’s jacket, it seemed like they had a healthier friendship before. I’m starting to wonder if maybe It has/had a thing for Tin. Hopefully whenever his pairing or whatever is planned for him and Voice happens, he will return to being a decent person.
Anyway, this episode was lacking the romantic tension between Tan and Oil, but the family angle was necessary to move Tan’s development as a person and an adult forward. I didn’t like the way his brother Kao acted real snotty to Tan. After all, it’s not his fault his dad was a cheater.
Also, Namtarn finally meeting up with Tin and the other GFC boys in the band was cute. She’s such a fangirl through and through, but at least she’s a good friend for Sea. I know most people freak out when a girl suddenly (re)appears in a BL when things seem to be going smoothly for the boys, but I like to reserve judgment until there’s a real reason.
I’m truly thrilled to watch this series. It’s nothing that I expected, and it’s better than some of the more prominent series airing right now. The acting is good, the storylines are coherent, and the production values are decent. Currently, “Cherry Magic” and “I Told Sunset About You” are my top two and in totally different leagues, but this is the kind of different to which I enjoy being able to escape.
There were a few parts in episode 6 that had no subs for some reason....Josh and Jamie were so cute in this episode!…
I thought it was weird that Charm was all, “I know you like Aiden and you guys have a special something”... like, what kind of girlfriend says that? I mean, at least she isn’t completely delulu like most of the gfs in BLs, but “allowing” some guy to take a chance at your boyfriend seemed a bit unrealistic. But then again, she is a BL series fan, so :D
And, I like that Aiden finally admitted to Danny how he felt about him, but Danny shouldn’t have kissed him. He should have let Aiden make the first move since he’s the one confused about his feelings/sexuality.
But I’m glad the overall romantic plots are progressing. I wish Jamie/Josh’s whatever they have going on was spiced up a bit. Looks like just a bromance right now, but I want more lol
At this point I have no clue where this series is headed, but all I know is that I giggled like the fan girl I…
Okay, I HAD to go back to see the t-shirt. I can’t believe I missed that the first time around! All hail RAIKANTOPENI, international slogan/anthem of every BL ;)
Geez, just goes to show that you should appreciate your partner as long as their around. In the end, it seems that “Hubby” is grieving because his man is dead and he never truly appreciate him when he was alive- only got annoyed when he was trying to show affection. At least, that’s how I interpreted this. Anyway, it was quite good for 4 minutes.
Consistent with its entire season, Episode 12 was a mess, saved only by Aki and Miko's chemistry. Most plot/storyline…
You said pretty much everything I was thinking. The chemistry between Sky and Ace really helped save this series. I really enjoyed the story of the series, but so much of the dialogue was cringy. Sky’s whole graduation speech was cringy as hell. I love the fact that he is able to accept being in love with a man, but proudly proclaiming “I’m proud gay” in your graduation speech was a bit much. I feel like there wasn’t enough time (in the timeline or the series) for him to either a) fully consider his sexuality, or b) integrate this huge declaration in his speech. I mean, besides his scandal right before graduation, the only people who seemed particularly pressed about Sky’s sexuality were Moira and her sister and then those two knuckleheads. But they didn’t act out on Sky or Ace in the school setting, so...?
Also, I totally agree that some of the developments were so rushed, it felt inauthentic. Ace’s dad was so openly homophobic and oppressive to Ace that it hardly seemed that one 10 minute conversation with his son's best friend would make him do a complete 180. The reconciliation between Ace and his mother was also rushed, but it was more believable. He learned the truth about his mom’s absence in his life, and also a shared struggle to accept their respective sexualities. His desperation to have a complete/loving family helped this along a bit.
Back to the other characters- Moira and her sister should be in prison. It’s all fine and well that Sky and Ace decided to forgive them (for their own personal peace of mind), but what those girls did was completely criminal. Secretly video recording a couple’s sexual activities and then publishing it online without their consent is an invasion of privacy, criminally voyeurism or nonconsensual pornography. And then Moira tampering with Sky’s food knowing he is allergic to peanuts is probably attempted murder (since most people should realize how deadly anaphylaxis can be for someone with peanut allergy). I really was not able to sympathize with Moira’s character because even though, in the end, she FINALLY apologized, there was zero evidence that she felt remorse.
A lot of other things were kind of left up in the air or just didn’t make sense. Did anything ever come of Sky’s internship? Also, why was his coming in second place in a freaking INTERNATIONAL cake competition considered a disappointment? I mean, I know first place is the ideal, but come on, man. He wasn’t even a legit chef. I think that accomplishment was pretty damn awesome. Also, what the heck was up with Jelai and Jam? I mean, that was just one sided flirting the whole series, right? Jelai was over the top, but I felt his character was not as critical an inclusion to the series as Ms Becky. She was WAY over the top, but she served as a surrogate mother for Ace, and she also didn’t cross the lines with her man-crushing.
I don’t know... I really did enjoy the series- cringe and all, but there was “something” not quite right about it that I could never put my finger on. But I’m always happy for more LGBT representation in media, even ones like this because someone, somewhere out there will be able to connect it with themself.
Let’s go, Philippines! This is 2020, the year of the Pinoy BL explosion! Every series can serve as a stepping stone for the next ones :)
I love Jeff’s (Win) singing. I especially love the first song he sang in this episode. It was the same song he (as Mike) sang to (Peem) in “He She It” on the couch that was so romantic. The chemistry between Jeff and Gameplay is on another level.
But... what was up with the crazy audio issues in this episode, or was it just me? Anyway, Dome... take a hint! You could see the stars in Tops’ eyes when he was watching Win perform. Stay in your lane, dude. You know your friend likes him.
Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE this show. The toxicity of the relationships and friendships keeps it dramatic and interesting, but DAMN. If I had a friend group like this, I’d be paranoid as hell!
.....I'm sorry I just have a lot of feelings right now lmao. Waiting for this and for the Japanese BL "Cherry…
This and “Cherry Magic” are LIFE right now. Two totally different series, but my feels are super elevated when I watch both of them. Anticipation for new episodes of both will be my demise :|
Well, let’s see how next week’s finale will be. I’m glad this series has been the light note on my Fridays these last few weeks. I can never get enough of these boys <3
I think I do enjoy it as much. I actually feel a little like a pedophile because I'm head over heels in love with…
Yes, some of the pacing is slow, but compared to the quality of some of the other BLs airing right now (that could be classified as total hot messes), this is pretty good.
So... You think Tan is beautiful or Tin? I think Tin (GFC rich kid) is so freaking adorable!
The pacing is slower, as you said, but I am enjoying the properly fleshed out characters. It’s easy to see/understand the emotions of all characters, and they are not one note. They’re all pretty sweet, also, which brings a smile to my face each episode.

Bew? Twisted.
Pop? Creepy.
Locker? Lecherous.
And the main characters are so problematic.
Boyo? Annoying.
Boom? Overbearing.
Stud? Immoral.
Sam? Untrustworthy.
Good? Indecisive.
