I am downright FLABBERGASTED at the 7.7 rating like usually I do have an MDL cutoff when giving dramas a try but…
The biggest thing I can think of that I didn't like (not including sfl who I skipped)...I didn't like how FL'S ideology was very much "I should be able to hint at something and he should get it and if he doesn't, I'll be upset." ML would be confused as to why she's upset, then gather intel from a secondary source, and then do THE UTMOST to resolve the issue. I just wish they communicated better and talked to EACH OTHER, because ultimately the experts on a relationship are the people in it. But this really didn't overshadow much imo, it was always resolved within the same ep, and it's a flaw that I will imagine they (and she specifically) work on LOL (I haven't seen the special eps yet!)
Also, I haven't watched the special eps yet and idk if I'd feel differently if they didn't exist, but I didn't hate the ending. I usually LOATHE open endings, and will not ever watch a tragic ending. But this one didn't even feel /that/ open to me...Chu Ye's smirk, and just Xiao Ya's look at the end? I have no doubt he would make her fall in love with him again. The way this drama showed the progression of their relationship...I've had my fill of their cuteness, and have confidence in them as a couple. So I didn't hate the ending! But I'm excited to watch the special eps...should I quit my job LOL
I am downright FLABBERGASTED at the 7.7 rating like usually I do have an MDL cutoff when giving dramas a try but I'm SO SO glad I ignored that for this one, and it was largely because of the overwhelmingly positive comments so I wanna contribute...
This drama is SO. freaking cute. Adorable. I loved it from start to end (I usually skip thru last eps with lack of interest or drop c-dramas near the end but not this one!!!). Was the plot a little nonsensical and silly? Sure, but it never //got in the way// if that makes sense. Like, you know when you love a show but then you HATE what's happening or where the plot is heading? I didn't have that here, you donโt have to think too hard about the plot. Instead, I loved the interactions the plot prompted between the leads, and we got a lot of them. I wasn't riveted by "the chaos of marriage" but I was ENAMOURED with watching the leads work together and fall in love and then also, NOTABLY, //be// in love. I was in the mood for something cute and fluffy and specifically romance centric, and this checked all boxes. If you want to actually care about the plot and follow it, or you want something with specific depth, this isn't it. This is specifically cute and fluffy.
Watching them fall in love was sooo natural. The way FL interacted with ML both before and after their relationship was so NATURAL and casually intimate. And, the way he looks at her???? His smiles when he's with her are so gentle, he just wants to indulge her and dote on her. He wants to protect her joy because it's his too. Both lead actors did such a great job. Tian Xi Wei made Xiao Ya so expressive and loveable, and I love that we got an FL who ardently pursues her goals and desires. They trusted each other and loved being in each other's company. godddd it was so cute like I often lose interest in C-Dramas when the leads get together but this one? No, to the END I was lapping up all the lovestruck glances and heartfelt words. They did a flashback scene of their relationship in the last ep and my heart actually hurt these two are cuties. CUTIES.
The things I didn't like were generally resolved quickly (for ex I just skipped all SFL scenes LMFAO). [spoiler]
Ultimately, loved the leading characters and the actors who portrayed them. [I really really hope they get more roles, it's a pleasure watching them. Check out the FL in "Lovely Us" tho!!] Great chemistry together, brought their roles to life. I was invested and I had such a good time watching (except omg this drama made me feel so lonely????). This rating is whack!! ALSO I skipped all of Li Fu and Ah Jing's scenes, even though I like them as characters LOL
OMG you know what would be so great...If this cast came back to do another lifetime. They said these two were…
I love that so much. Thank you for telling me - lots of times i appreciate something but donโt comment. Turns out, itโs such a nice surprise!! Iโm the same way, kept hanging on for the cute bits with my bestie: the fast forward button LOL
