CAMPING IN THE COMMENTS SECTION LMAOOO no I totally get you. This drama has a lot to offer, totally agree with loving the FL - in a world of dramas with badly written female protagonists, it's like finding a rare gem when you find someone as genuine and strong of heart and true to herself as Nampeung. SO SO SO glad she wasn't written to make the typical stuuuuupid decisions of FLs, where they make things worse and have to be saved. Or act impulsively on misinformation. A good FL is one of the mostttt important factors in how I feel about a drama, and Nampeung is everything. I REALLY liked how you could still tell she's sheltered and has lived a privileged life, but was NEVER snobby, condescending, or thought of herself as superior. She did her best to understand the people around her, and the man she knew to be good. I loveee her perseverance, and her absolute refusal to stay quiet / bottle up her emotions (but not in a hasty and oboscious way that some FLs (any FL described as "feisty" in a synopsis) are written).

I just finished and I think I'm immediately going to go to the newer drama these two have together bc I canNOT get enough of these two omfg..

Wait .... they just had the most emotional scene where he told her they didn’t truly become husband and wife and he walked out of her life forever by saying they live in different worlds. Cut to their next scene..... they’re acting so cute and romantic????? Lying down in bed with him trying to kiss her???? What did I miss....

I’m with you 100%. Like you definitely have to turn your brain off for a lot of things, BUT if you’re able to, then you get to enjoy some of the purest romance. Like the development was sooooo good, them truly fallling in love and trusting each other was so satisfying. And you’re right: one of my fav things and something I truly expect out of a good romance is being able to see HOW and WHY the main leads fall for each other (as opposed to a lot of romances where it feels like they’re in love just because they were written to be the leads and written to fall in love. Like this one feels REAL) I’m so in love with this pairing and a part of me is always like “..can that level of chemistry be faked??” Watch them announce that they’ve been secretly married for five years LMFAO

also I TOTALLY ignore / refuse to acknowledge the fact that she’s canonically 17 and he’s like 30. Irl they’re closed enough in age and I’m going by that LOL

But yeah. Ultimately with lakorns you have to kind of understand that it’s a lakorn ur watching, and adjust your expectations accordingly 😅

I'm on ep14 and here's the conclusion I'm coming to: There's a lot I would change. There's some real messed up stuff. Me even rationalizing and watching it is making me reevaluate what I thought I knew about myself. There's a lot of things I desperately wish were fleshed out to their potential. I wish the FL had more agency and more of a role to make change. I wish she had more impact. JUST ONCE. I wish we got to see her alleged gun skills. No one took her seriously when she'd talk about it, it'd be so cool if she made a critical shot at the end.

But ultimately....despite it all....the way ML looks at her like she's his world, the way she smiles and it lights up the entire screen, the way they literally seem SO natural with each other, as if we're actually peeking into the lives of a real couple. It got me. good. Ultimately...I haven't been able to stop watching. Ultimately....I find myself invested.

Also, it really helped ranting on here and getting things off my chest. It helped me keep watching LOL

If they worked together though...it would be delicious chaos. I'm on ep 11, so maybe there is still hope...What I do love is that she is clever and demanding. I'm thinking I'm approaching this show the way FL is approaching ML and her situation - know its hurting, but hanging on because some sick part of us says there's something good worth hanging on for.

Applying this logic to watching a show is much easier than applying it to a character rationalizing her abuse though T__T

It happened again....she thinks he slept with her while she was asleep again. You can tell she's angry, but he's joking around and the music is super lighthearted as if this is nbd. I'm flashing back to the first time it happened and my girl had a whole breakdown because again, she thought her virginity was taken to rape.

I’m on ep 6 and the communication between the leads is abysmal,....she is convinced he’s been raping her and he refuses to clear up that misunderstanding. I wanna keep watching bc there IS a lot to like but man...I’m trying so hard to literally FORGET she thinks she’s being raped, just so I can rationalize watching her fall in love.

Man...they make it seem to be a cute and normal thing too wtf like she thinks they’ve had sex three times and has no memory of it. He also does the OPPOSITE of deny by instead fanning the flames. How can you fall in love with someone who you’re convinced RAPED you multiple times, without it being like Stockholm syndrome

Like even if he didn't do these things, SHE def thinks this is what happened. Watching her fall in love with who she is convinced is her abuser isn't romantic. WHYYY does every lakorn have attempted rape of the protagonist, and the actual rape and battery of some poor secondary female character.

I'm having such a hard time..this girl legit thinks she was raped repeatedly by her husband, who she was forced to marry and who she thinks killed her fiancé. Please, someone, tell me when this is cleared up...it's so hard to get into the romance with this context??
