I coincidentally watched the Chinese film version a couple months ago without knowing there was going to be a Korean drama based on the same webtoon. I was a bit surprised at how similar the first scene was, but that was the only similarity I think. There are definitely a lot of differences. Like, the high schooler was actually a much younger child in the film version. I already know how the film ending goes, but I'm curious if the drama will follow the same path since I know Chinese censorship tends to affect their media's endings, and I don't know what the original webtoon ending was like either. Funny how the spooky stuff doesn't scare me anymore after already knowing the plot
I'm enjoying both the older Jiwons' and younger Jiwons' lovelines. The actress playing the younger FL actually surprised me with her acting in the recent episodes, just imagine how much more talented she'll be in the future. Also I feel like there's a very subtle romance subplot developing between the present-day high schoolers which I'm looking forward to. My main issue right now is obviously the miscommunication between the leads, and I hope the scene that all gets fixed will be very satisfying
The Deaconess looks identical to Yoona from My Sibling's Romance it's actually crazy. I'd be convinced they were the same person if one didn't look older
I feel like in this season the teams have friendlier interactions with each other. In s1 the interactions were mostly within each team, but here people are making jokes and being more friendly in general with other teams. Oxford is definitely the funny social group that boosts the mood the most, so it's always fun watching them.
Kaist's whole vibe changed after beating 2 teams in the Deathmatch. Their teamwork and mentality is really great. Defo rooting for them or Oxford to win this season. Though I'm starting to feel like Oxford is lagging behind a little. SNU won s1, time for another uni to win this one
Not Ryu Seungbeom playing another character with special powers who was raised in a brutal training area since he was a child. At least he's one of the good guys this time round :)
I feel like I can match a player from this season's SNU team with last season's SNU team. I was rooting for them in season 1, but right now Oxford has my heart. They seem both extremely talented and really friendly.
bae173 still is an existing group, but the company that manages them are terrible at promoting them, so most of…
Yes they'll be part of project 7 while still legally being in their original group, but they will only be part of project 7 music/promotions until the group disbands. This happened with Wanna One, where Minhyun was already an existing NUEST member, and returned to NUEST after Wanna One disbanded
There's something about Kihong -- the Yonsei guy who placed last on the first ace test and first the next two times -- that makes him so attractive. Something about the way he carries himself, despite not having a distinct personality. He's definitely the 'mysterious' crush type
my theory: I think the second girl who was friends with them died in an accident, which is why the FLs bestie…
The mean coworker friend was the same girl who was in the bus with the Jiwons, before Seok Jiwon pulled Yoon Jiwon out of the bus to talk. She was staring at them with a slight upset expression as they left the bus. She's not one of Yoon Jiwon's 2 besties, but a slightly less close friend. She probably had feelings for Seok Jiwon
To think some people have the audacity to call Deokim foolish for rejecting San for so long as if her incredibly valid reasons weren't one of the main themes of this drama. That dilemma is what makes her so strong, that she wanted to choose herself and her freedom over the king. But in the end, she did choose him, and took on those sufferings for the remainder of her life. That itself shows just how much she loved the king, and people want to doubt that too? She chose her love over her own self. The only reason why Deokim wasn't very affectionate with San was BECAUSE her love was the only thing she had left which belonged to her. But even that she confessed on her deathbed. Her story breaks my heart, I hope in another life she gets to choose herself.
I'm literally 3 mins in but wow, the casting is crazy! The side by side shot of young Yoon Jiwon and old Yoon Jiwon really looks like they are the same person at different ages
I'm rewatching s1 while waiting for the next s2 episodes and wow, I forgot just how close the first death match win was. POSTECH was seconds away from surviving, which makes Harvard taking their place with no effort even more frustrating. I'm glad they didn't do that with s2 and gave both Korean and western teams equal chance to survive the first round.
Also, it looked like Deok Sun just liked any person who gave her attention first Sun Woo then Jung Hwan, and lastly…
That's the main point of her loveline arc. She had insecurities as the ignored middle child and liked Sunwoo and Junghwan only because she thought they liked her first. Taek was always going to be the one she chose because he visibly loved her and didn't give mixed signals. Deoksun's crushes just show the different stages of maturity she was at, so it's done well for a coming-of-age drama.
I'm glad production learnt from the mistake of s1 and let all teams compete fairly for the first round while still maintaining an element of surprise for the western teams. This was definitely the right way to do it. I was so upset in s1 for the first team that lost because it felt like they were just being replaced by Harvard, but if all of them had competed the first round together, that team had a bigger chance of surviving.
I was not a fan of the Harvard team because of how prideful they were, and I'm starting to feel that way about MIT too. But Oxford team, definitely rooting for you guys.
I wonder if I just miss something in the plot, but wasn't it that Miao Miao have no permission to change anything…
The only times she had to go with the plot where when the system gave her direct tasks and she had to complete them, loophole or not. The Lin Yu father plot changed because of Miaomiao's personality within her character as Lin Yu, which made her father act better and therefore, not commit fraud. But even if she did try to change the plot, it wouldn't break the game's rules because she was free to behave as she wished whenever she didn't have a task.
