Wanted to finish this drama in 2019 but it’s 2020 now...
Peng xiao ran is so unbelievably gorgeous in this drama that she just lights up the screen every time she appears. And yeah, red is made for her.
I’m so angry that she had to watch everyone who she held dear to die throughout the series, as in she didn’t have enough pain.
LCY didn’t deserve her and the ending served it. From the start, since she found out that everything was planned and she was used as a pawn, even if he grew feelings for her in the process, it was all destined to be a tragic tale.
XF was just too good for him, for the Li dynasty and that world they lived in.
At the start, I was hesitant to watch it because I couldn’t get over sad dramas like Ashes of Love (took me a while), but boy I’m glad I did. Goodbye my princess proved that there can be love in all the betrayals, lies and grief.
Really appreciate the BTS and the short modern life epilogue on YouTube. It helped to heal my heart, even if a little.
The "Director's Cut" is on Amazon Prime if you're a subscriber. I've watched both versions and the uncut one details…
i decided to watch the uncut version instead of the cut version as I hate not knowing the full story. Thanks for your advice! Really appreciate it. I hope I will survive this heartbreak :)
I’ve always wanted to watch this but the tragedy tag always deterred me because I can’t stand heartbreaks. So in a leap of faith, I started this and 9 episodes in and I realized there is an uncut version of 55 episodes of this. Ugh why?? So I tried looking for that version and finally found one link, only that it’s not subbed :( i understand Chinese, but it’s not that perfect. Historical Chinese language baffles me, sometimes. That’s my first problem. Then comes the second. I spoilt myself and I’m troubled if I should continue. I feel like it would take forever for my heart to recover from the looming heartbreak. It took me very long to recover from Ashes of love. I still tear up when I rewatch those tragic scenes on YouTube. :( I know it’s a good show though. And I also heard that’s it’s like The King’s Woman, which I dropped at ep 17. What do you guys think? Continue or nah? Need some help...
People here srsly expect a fresh new hire to rise up against others more experienced than her in a society like South Korea where there is a rigid social hierarchy and where respecting your seniors is embedded in their culture and say no?
Personally, I like what they did with the drama. I find it much more meaningful that Xu Feng forgave Jin Mi before…
Yes I also preferred this change and the fact that XF and JM had a brief bit short reconciliation before the battle. I’m sure it won the hearts of viewers who had been waiting for that moment. If they had gone with the novel version, it would have been more angst and that would have been frustrating to watch.
I think the drama diverted very early on from the novel. In the novel, JM did not love XF until she spelled the…
Yes I have similar thoughts as you! Thank you for writing all the changes you discovered in this lengthy comment. I also preferred this drama version because it incorporated all the emotions that the novel JM didn’t have until the very end. It would have been frustrating to watch up to 60 ep if they followed tightly the drama so I’m actually grateful for these changes.
I am still watching this drama because I don't have other things to watch and I am a big fan of the manghwa but…
Well typical of korean dramas to make every scene like they are filming CFs but some are done well in the sense that they build tension, especially those scenes with Mirae-Kyung Seok. But he’s too handsome till it’s distracting that I haven’t noticed until you said it
Did anyone notice subtle/major changes from the novel? Like in the novel, XF didnt believe JM until when she died but in the drama, when JM said, ‘until now you still don’t believe me’ then XF said ‘I believe you, just now him (RY)’
I hope someone compiled a list of the deviations from the novel :(
Can someone translate the last part of this video??? I think it’s after the weddinghttp://p.weibo.com/show/channerWbH5/1034:4279894239072763
JM wanted to give him the flower(?) that can remove the coldness in him but he said, “I won’t want it. .” JM said this is the last flower in 10,000 years and begged him to have it.” XF then said “Do you think that will remove your crime(?) “ JM then walked away. XF then said ‘do you know how much I hate you?’ JM ‘I know. I’m sorry.’ XF ‘but I hate myself more. I hate myself for still being unable to forget you until now.’ JM ‘Fenghuang, can we still go back to the past?’ XF ‘no we can’t go back anymore.’ XF then hugged her and said ‘but maybe we can start all over again.’
I can’t wait for them to reconcile again!! And I think this is better than the book? From what I remember from the book, XF didn’t believe JM until the last moment when she died which was so tragic.. but here he actually believes her now soon next episode wow
