Yeah the novel JM is more passive towards everything. It feels like she doesn’t have emotions can doesn’t understand anything at all. Even when she spat out the yuan dan, she still didn’t understand that she loved XF. This show changed a lot, probably to emphasize more on the romance to appeal to a wider audience. About RY, I don’t like his character at all in the novel but here in the drama, I empathize with him a little so I guess they are looking to give audience a reason to justify his actions?
Ohh they changed from the webtoon... in the webtoon, mirae actually tried to help SooAh and avoided DSK as much as possible but, I’m actually liking this change because the webtoon was a bit frustrating to see when that happened.

Yeah in the novel it was written from Jin mi’s point of view so I wonder if they decided to add more things/interpret it differently. But it does fuel my dislike towards RY, if anything.
I don’t necessarily hate the change but JM only knew it was love till the last part after she ‘revived’ XF. In this case, JM realized it was love in the mortal realm initially but because of RY, she now thinks that it’s a mistake. This is a major change, in my opinion.

Like I remember Jin Mi in the novel wasn’t as sweet as the drama? Did she say lines like ‘you are my person now?’ All I can remember is that she did not know what mutual cultivation was she only thought that she could increase her ‘ling li’.

Yes totally agree with the above comments. I am okay with ZBY-LZ story because after all, I believe that LZ sort of deserves it in the end and because even if ZBY doesn’t love her, he is a man who will never forsake a woman who has done so much for him. However, the ZY, YH and QY story is just really badly-written. Kinda lowered my original love for this show. I also think that the show is called ‘Legend of Fuyao’ for a reason which means that Fuyao should be the centre of the show and she deserves to have her own harem (sounds weird here but yeah).
I think this show would be better if they followed the original novel. If only Zong Yue and Yun Hen also fell in love with fuyao... it would make more sense than Qi Yun actually (she’s so naively annoying) Zong Yue would definitely make a good second lead syndrome contender!!
