I just started re-watching Chinese dramas, especially Mainland, earlier this year. It had been at least 10 years. I finished Tientsin Mystic last month. It was pretty good. It's the only I've seen from your list.
Wow! I've only see 2 of those dramas. LOL I guess I'm a beginner. Coffee Prince was my 2nd Korean drama. My Lovely Kim Sam Soon was the first. I have a hankering for Korean wings and Chum Churum strawberry soju now. Thanks.
You're right, Designated Survivor is a surprise, but I see where you were going. I was thrilled to see Rooftop Prince on your list. People seem or like to ignore Micky's dramas because of what happened with his career. His scandal doesn't negate the fact that he was in some really good drama. RP is one of my favorites. I was happy you included Prison Playbook and Mystic Pop Up Bar.
Very interesting compilation. I found the suspense/ romance genre odd. If I were to do a similar list I think I might change that to straight romance and recommend Tatta Hitotsu no Koi. Then have an Isekai and/or Time Travel recommendation for Todome no Kiss. I've never seen it, but I'm taking your recommendation. Thanks!
Did you recommend Hana Kimi because it has been done by different countries? I ask because I don't know if I would have settled on Hana Kimi over Nobuta wo Produce, Itazura na Kiss (Mischevious Kiss) not my fave but people love it, or even Hana Yori. Just wondering. I'm definitely saving this so when people say, "Where do I start?" I can just link your article.
When I first heard of her death, of course I didn't want to believe it. I immediately thought of foul play, especially since there was no suicide note. I hadn't heard of the possibility of postpartum depression. I hope the police investigate thoroughly. Thank you for this article. It was very well done.
I'd been looking for a drama that had the heart I fell in love with in Father Is Strange and found it in Once Again. I'm happily taking your suggestions. Thanks!
I started yesterday. Just finished e10. I was along for the ride until the end. He figured it ot from the whistle?!? Because there's only 1 old silver whistle in all of South Korea!
I'm so jealous of you all watching it all this time. I just downloaded the soft subs but I can't get the raws to download. I guess my rudimentary Japanese is going to have to be enough for now. I can watch the raws!
If you are interested, there is info about subtitles on MIU404's MDL Page in the comments - the translator is…
hold up..... d-addicts still exists? next you'll be telling me mysoju is back and I'll have to travel to wherever you are bake you cookies. LOL You know I went to the MDL page, but failed to scroll past discussions. I thought that was the same as comments. DUH! Thanks
One big con for those that watch dramas from countries other than Korea, especially Japan is waiting for the episodes to be subbed. If you can find an airing being subbed, it'll eventually slow and you never know if or when it'll be completed.
My favorite is X Family as well. I love Ah Gong! Every time I think of KO One, I think of Aron telling Calvin to hit him upside his head . It was also my intro to Fahrenheit. I only knew Jiro from Hana Kimi.
