I actually enjoy remakes between korea, jpn, taiwan, and china since it lets us enjoy the characters/story again…
Condor Hero! Now there's a blast from the past! I've watched many different versions of titles (ones mostly based off anime or manga) , too. I agree that it does give you more time with your favorite characters while enjoying differences made to the story.

I don't know why you need points to send the ptb edits to cast nor how to accrue said points, but Jung Jin Young should be under main or support not guest. And Jo Duk Hyun should be guest not support.

Gokusen was my introduction to Yankii's in dramas. YuYu Hakusho has the honor in animes. While not a fan of Yankiis, I do enjoy the clothes and 1960's greaser hair. That being said I have seen Crows Zero, but that has everything to do with my love for Oguri Shun. I didn't know the Japanese finally did a live action of MARS. It's been years .. feels like 20 since I watched the Taiwanese version.

I'm glad there's someone who likes Hideaki Ito too besides me :) I totally agree that he can do playful and 'normal'…
Wow!! 6 years and I just saw this!! Dang talk about obtuse. Sorry.

Article Drama who?
What do you describe as your drama field?
(Your preferred country and genres)
I prefer Japanese, but the availability of subs is not what it once was. After that it was Taiwanese followed by wuxia from HK. It took me a very long time to watch a Korean drama in it's entirety. I'd seen plenty of movies. I couldn't stand the sounds that they rarely do now. It always sounded like they were about to spit to me. I found it disgusting.

Genres: Supernatural, Thriller/Action, Horror, Psycological, Medical, RomCom (big C little r), and Slice of Life. It doesn't matter what age it's set in.
I hate melo! I mean HATE! LOATHE.

What do you think makes your preferred countries' dramas special and unique?
The Japanese are Master Storytellers. What takes others 25 episodes to tell, they do it it 10-1. They don't waste time on extraneous bs. They don't do constant flashbacks, especially of a scene you just watched nor do you ever get the feeling that you're watching a long ad or music video.

What do you think your personal advantage is when watching dramas?
Age. I'm old enough not to waste my time because a lead might be somewhat attractive, but talentless.

Are there any regular challenges that occur when you watch dramas? And how do you overcome them?
Nope. Everyone knows if you don't like what I watch, you can kiss my amble assets and kick cement.

What do you hope for in the future regarding dramas:
Japan - longer series. Let me spend some more time with a character I've fallen for.

Korea - originality and to stop forcing romance into almost every drama. More writers like Kim Eun Hee, who I adore. Personally, I credit her with bringing some originality to Korean dramas with titles like Sign, Harvest Villa, and Signal. The Korean drama production values have jumped by leaps and bounds in the last 20 years, but they still could use some work.

Taiwan - to get back to where they were 10 years ago. I don't know what happened to Taiwan. I really don't. Suddenly, their dramas were horrible. I thought they had opened a new chapter with Gloomy Salad Days. It wasn't great, but it tackled a lot of topics that were (and still are) taboo like teen suicide, prostitution, sexuality, and drug use. Instead they landslid backwards into insipid romances and idiotic comedies. How many KO Ones do we really need? How many?! smh

Others (Singapore, Thailand, Philippines) - work on their production values. All 3 have the actors but their productions sometimes look like a kid's school project.

hmm...never heard of Jin Kyung. She seems to be in quite a few dramas that I've told myself to watch someday. I've never seen Albright in 1 drama let alone 5.

Love Sung Dong II! He was the 2nd Korean male's voice that I fell in love with. Kim Gab Soo is following me. He's been in almost everything I've watched recently. I watched Chief of Staff and Designated Survivor simultaneously and kept confusing myself.

I don't think you and I would be going to any concerts together. LOL I only listened to a few, but I didn't particularly like any of them tbh. I did pick up a couple of titles to watch though. Thanks for that.

As a lover of the supporting & character actor, I have to say I disagree with you on everyone except Kim Mi Kyung, who just may be the hardest working actress on the planet. Although I adore Kim Sang Ho and am fond of Kim Sung Oh, I think Kim Won Hae, Sung Dong Il, or Woo Hyun are more deserving than all 4 men on the list. I know how hard it was to choose 5, but, seriously, Kim Won Hae is the male version Kim Mi Kyung. :D

My theory from the beginning is that he saved himself. Somehow he was able to go back in time. There's no way that was a woman. I'm trying to figure out the cop and how he knows the emblem. I'm thinking the son didn't really drown and that it's him. His father didn't have to be the doppleganger of the dead king. Either that or someone from his lineage is from the Kingdom and couldn't get back without the whistle. What truly has me stumped is how the evil a@@hole is not aging.

I'm loving it and I'm not sure why. The mysteries aren't very involved easy to figure out. The female lead is horribly annoying. Despite her they're keeping me on the hook because of the bigger issue behind everything. Episode 15 is playing now. I'm listening to the theme song. I'm not sure why it was surprising to some. The music fits perfectly with the CG opening sequence which I love. I found it no more surprising than if it were a pop, classical, etc. It's my first time hearing Chinese rap. I liked it so much that I checked out the full song and other songs by After Journey on youtube. The same with the ending theme which I also love.

I'm really confused, generally with Chinese dramas, are they seriously using different sound recordings and not…
Well, it was explained to me a few years ago that it depends on where the file is coming from. If the drama is from HK and the file is out of a country like Taiwan or Singapore, then the Canto is dubbed in the Mando (or vice versa I can't remember). Most fan subbers speak Mandarin so we see the dubbed files. I have noticed with this one that they are even dubbing the English of the white guys. I dunno. Maybe their British accents suck. LOL

I am only on ep 3 and idk if I should continue tbh. I am quite annoyed with the girl and I cannot really warm…
She is annoying but to drop it right now is like throwing out the baby with the bath water. I liked it more than I dislike that character. Watch 2-3 more episodes before making that decision.

I laughed every episode of Pegasus Market. It was so ridiculous! I loved it. I also really liked My Wife.'s. I love Lee Sun Kyun. He was great! I'll check out Graceful Family on your recommendation. Chocolate doesn't sound like my cuppa. As for Queen of Mystery... GIRL! I tried to watch it 2x. Well, 3 if you count the time I slept from about 20 min. into ep 1 through to the end of ep 3. I don't know what bores me because it's my type. *shrug * Thanks for the article. sadu <3
