So funny I just commented on this aswell. Especially when shows of lower quality, in terms of acting, version acting, script and costumes have a 9.5. Like it does not make sense.

I can’t believe that the final MDL rating for this is a 8.9. This feels rigged. Especially when shows that are not so great, in the script, acting and overall production have ratings of 9.5.

Agreed.. it should be 9.5 or even a full 10

Im a big C-Drama Fan.. sometimes they are hits and misses.. but every now and then a gem comes out where the script, direction, acting, plot is perfect. This is one of those.

Congratulations to the whole cast and crew. They did an Amazing job. Seeing the growth of Liu Yu Ning‘s acting is very impressive… from playing supporting roles to playing memorable lead roles. He has a very bright future ahead of him..

It’s sad that now there is nothing interesting showing.

The ominous feeling I’m getting for episode 34 going forward.. idk know if my nerves can handle the stress

I just finished episode 33 and I have an ominous feeling.. I’m too scared to proceed 🥲

I absolutely agree it just falls flat. It’s so many aspects, the script, character portrayal, directing, acting and costumes… it‘s 😕… both leads have so much potential and are still young.. I believe with time, more training and maybe better scripts we’ll see them shine.

Although I admit this is the first time seeing the FL. The ML I’ve watched his show „Go Ahead“.. The overall show. Was great and had a lot strong actors, so his expressionless type of acting didn’t show as much but here it‘s so much more evident because the cast is not as strong…

Yes we all have different standards and the perception of „good acting“ or „quality“ is also very individual. If you are enjoying the show and its acting good for you 😉. My comment here is just my honest review of what I think. With that said, it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a bad show. Just my standards are different. Enjoy the show, I also look forward to reading more people’s reviews after it ends.

We have a public holiday where I am.. so I’m getting all my tasks done and from 2 PM CET im just binging the show 🥰

So as much I’ve enjoyed the show.. I think they decided to save on the battle scenes… we won’t get any epic fighting scenes, it will just be as was in the last episodes. But it’s alright the director/producers/ camera people have done such a great job in capturing emotions and all the little details that tend to get lost in shows.

Haha even if it was low budget, and the script is not so great. Good acting would make a difference.

It’s actually something I’ve noticed with C-Dramas, if most of the actors are super young and don’t have a long standing acting backstory… you can always tell directly.

Haha both IQiyi and WETV are not the greatest, unless they have a good show currently running. I just got VIP for one month 🤣

I am so impressed with this dude. You can tell that he has been putting in the work to improve his craft. I first watched him in „The Long Ballad“, where he had somewhat of a support role and now to see him as the ML and the depth of his acting. Wow it’s very impressive. His acting in Prisoner of Beauty deserves an award, the way he manages to portray complexity of his character is breath taking. I guess for him the saying aging like fine wine, is fitting for his acting skills.

Viki will probably have all the episodes next week. Viki is only on episode 28 (29 showing tomorrow) & the release 1 EP per day. To get the fast track, you need to get WETV app and be a VIP member to be able to buy fasttrack 😅

Started off interesting… but somehow it’s just Alright, so the acting of both ML & FL NEEDS so much work. The production from. Costumes etc, definitely shows that it is low budget..For me the ML & FL are just pretty to look at, their acting is so subpar. To be exact the acting is giving school drama club vibes ( not that I could personally do better, with more training both leads will have bright futures). But I suppose I am a little biased because I am watching the show at the same time as Prisoner of Beauty, where the acting and production is “Crème de la crème”… I think I might drop it and maybe pick it up one day when I am bored and have nothing else to watch.

Review till episode 14, it’s 😕 and can work as background noise. Acting is not great. With a better production team, writers, budget and actors it could have been a hit. Shame.
