This had so much potential to be a heartfelt family and second chance romance drama but just fell flat in the…
100% agree.. the last 3 episodes where a let down… they could have done so much more. For 13 episodes the writers has us on the edge of our seats.. then it became a snoozefest. Which was a bummer..
The actors did a great job. They deserve their kudos!
I cannot, WTH is going on in these trailers. I'm so annoyed. It looks like SH and his family all get exiled. This…
Like I wish they would go more into detail about why the emperor is acting like the mad king. It makes no sense. Even when the men from the Huo family where exiled it didn’t make sense. Just because grandpa hip spoke the truth? So confused hopefully the next episodes give clarity.
Hang in there!!! You will make your come back… such a loss for the Korean entertainment industry and for the world. Your talent will always shine through!!
Enjoying this show… I love how it’s showing strong females working together and not the classic evil concubine scenarios.
I love how the female lead‘s character was written. The actress is doing a good job. However the one thing that bothers me about her acting (watched a few shows with her ).. Is that her acting most of the time feels like I watching a pretty woman reading lines. It rarely evokes or delivers what the scene entails. Not that I could do better. But I don’t watch watch shows just to watch a pretty face (she is stunning a true beauty). She does really well at choosing her roles, but she DEFINiTELY needs to work on her expressions and how she delivers different emotions. This is my objective and honest opinion on her acting.
Although the show is good, it‘s annoying howw the editors felt the need to use sound to emphasize what/ the emotion each scene was supposed to evoke. It feels like they didn’t feel like the acting was good enough to portray the intended message. This so far has taken away from what could have potentially an epic show…. With that said can’t wait to see how they round it all up.
Currently re-watching this and it is even better than I remember. From filmoghraphy to editing, osts, flow of…
Ayse exactly my feelings…. I‘ve been struggling with some of newer shows.. I find myself going back to the older stuff… Acting and production quality was so on point…
dropped this drama because the FL's character (and acting) bothers me i can't stand it omg... it's a shame because…
I couldn’t finish it either. The best parts where she was not in the scenes. Nothing against the actress.. just her acting in this was meh 😕.. Yes the writers failed to fully reach the potential her character could have had… BUT a good actress could have atleast made the script work..
eps 6 and 7 took everything from me to finish. I think it’s time to drop.
I absolutely agree. I love that they touched on the mental health aspect… especially because in many countries mental health is seen as a taboo.. As many people have mentioned their concern of the glorification of drinking alcohol whilst on serious meds, which is an absolute fail from the writers and directors part. This is basic knowledge that it’s a no go, especially where with a fragile mental state this could lead to addiction.
HOWEVER both actors are doing really well, which is one of the saving points of the show. Also this could have been easily 10 episodes it did not need 16 episodes.
I personally think I’ll step away from this and continue on a day when I’ve run out of things to watch.
Yes, the FL is very nice looking, but isn't it a requirement that one of the leads has to be? If you don't have…
From a marketing point of view totally understood. As @andStace commented, the writer(s) also did not help in the way they wrote the character.
I don’t mind the actress per say. I am just disappointed with the missed opportunity to really portray a strong and intelligent female lead at a time where women were looked upon as just objects for child bearing etc.
I'm going to wait until the end to make a final verdict, but I agree with most of what you're saying. After watching…
Agree 100%.. the writing of the revenge plot fell flat… For me it fell too much into the standard. „Misunderstanding - no communication plots“ you often find in k- and c-dramas.. tbh I fast forwarded some parts of her revenge because it just fell flat.
I still think that she lacks the "it" for the star quality.
There is star quality and there are actors who may not be „star quality“, where you know that if you watch something with them.. You are in for a ride in the most positive way.
It’s unfortunate that in the entertainment world, that most times the quantity that comes with the *it* to be a start takes away from the quality. A good example can be seen in „captivating the king show“… The FL has what you would call the „it“.. but her acting does not captivate the audience. Back to the actual article (actress), even though she may not have the „it“.. if she continues horning her acting skill and giving such powerful performances… she will definitely be remembered for her skill and not the clout that comes with having the „it“ that comes with star quality.
So I’m still on episode 10… I just had to vent about the female lead. Yes she is an absolute stunner and but…
Update: I‘ve caught up till episode 14…My opinion remains unchanged @zerooldman, i tried my hardest, for me 13 & 14 were so good because of how little screen time she had. I mean comparing her acting to Ding Dong (whatever the characters name was), the actress portrayed that role spectacularly. FL just fell flat.
Because I am not a hater, kudos to her for choosing what could have been an epic role. Very refreshing to see an intelligent and strong woman portrayed in historical drama.
