This Lakorn was not on my list to watch. I usually avoid revenge Lakorns with emotional abuse and clingy over-generous FLs. But eventually got curious about all the fuss and thought to give it a try if the subbed episodes released publicly. Glad that I decided to watch it.
First off, thanks a lot to the subbers who in spite of all the trouble bring the amazing subs to us. You guys are the best!
In spite of being a revenge Lakorns it was different. Largely because the ML is not exacting revenge on the FL. He's not an unreasonable misunderstanding whiny man child. He has reasons behind his rage. He was not a jerk. Tor brought the character to life. Because of him I felt Sila's every emotion. The part where he slept with Kwan should have been avoided though. I get that she was pestering him to the ninth degree, but he could have just thrown her out of his place. This one thing was a blotch in his otherwise dashing image.
At the end when they were together and happy, I was happy too. That happens rarely with me in this kind of drama. The FL is a bugger for the first 14 episodes or so. The ML is force kissing and manhandling her at any chance to make her stay away. Usually I would want the leads to not be together. But here i forgot everything and was glad. They both deserved a family that loves and respects them and they were that family for each other.
I had watched Tor before in sweet second or third lead roles. He is cute and always seemed like a good actor. But Goshdamn he is so much more than just good! His acting is charismatic from here to the moon. He acts, more like plays with his voice, face and body. He fits his body language to the character. He’s also great at delivering chemistry with co-stars. I am just blown away. Another actor added to my favorites’ list. I love my Lakorns but rarely am impressed by the acting. And I haven't been this impressed since James Ma.
Some of the scenes really felt like on the fly. Like after first [force] kissing Min, he touched his lips. Whenever he caressed her face, sometimes to wipe tears. In the scene where she finally comes to live with him in his place and he gets into her room and back hugs her, then they fall on the bed and for a moment he moves away his hand brushes something off his nose. Those little details can’t be choreographed. And if they were, Kudos to the director! Tor should, from now on, get roles that justifies his skills. Please no putting him in side roles in big star projects or limiting to casting him in short web series. I'll be pissed then.
The whole show, for me was all about Tor's brilliant and charming acting peppered with the magnificence of badass Khun Mam. There's another actor who, along with Tor whacked the wits outta me (in a great way). Hate that the writers killed her. She is now one of my favorite Lakorn ladies. But I doubt she'll get roles as awesome as her style and acting. I don't want to see her reduced to vampy or screechy side characters. She's too precious for that.
The ost is eclectic af. I am desperately looking for the songs in the soundtrack. Can someone please help!
This one is the most satisfying drama since Bhuppae Sunniwat. Definitely gonna rewatch if the episodes remain on the subber’s site.
Does anyone know the song when Kwan is crying in the shower after she finds out that it's Tor that she has slept with! the ost of the Lakorn is just beyond awesome!
p.s. also the song when Min and Sila are on the beach and he puts her over his shoulder. The ost is so good. but I can't find all the song on yt. can someone please please please help!
I really got a heartburn from Sila sleeping with Kwan! why! I wish it weren't so! Now when he and Min are together, I feel it's humiliating for her. Not the way Kwan is yapping about. like how even sleeping with someone makes him her husband! In what logic! And what the hell is all about this leftover thing! What is he! a shoe! Why did min not tell her that a person can't be a leftover, you insensible moron! But still sleeping with her sister just gave that Kwan girl a 21 inches tongue to yap nonsense.
Is it weird that I wanna slap Min more than Kwan! She is treated as a stray by her mother and sister, yet, she decides to stay with them after getting a job, sponsors their ridiculous demands with her salary, apparently takes hand-downs from her sister (how that is possible I don't know! does that Kwan girl even earn a cent or is she just strutting about on her sister's cash!). And then she goes around misunderstanding, looking down on and insulting Sila! Huh! Annoying much!
Is this a new trend! First they started splitting 1-hr episodes into two 30-min ones (for commercials) and now they are splitting the whole drama into parts.
She actually looks kinda like snsd Yoona to me with that minimal makeup. Agree that Jin Goo has the Jiro Wang…
And Yoona looks like Park Eun Bin to me. especially in the earlier days. Everything lies in the eyes of the beholder, i guess. lol! But one thing common in all these girls, they are all pretty!
So mad at Guan Chao. Poor adorable Wu Yi! And I saw in a clip that when he confesses to her later she says yes instantly. She should have at least made him wait and chase her for some time for how he is breaking her heart now. T_T
An Ge(Fei Dachuan) isn't in the cast even though he is everywhere in the drama.
I am at episode 6 and I was wondering about the actor who played Dachuan but did not find him listed in the cast. So, I thought he might not be in that many episodes.
So, did TVN, the producers of the show and the director think that they can work a cliché and base script, with minimalistic effort of writing and a gazillion of product placements in almost every episode, just by depending on KJW and his chemistry with PMY! Seems like a yes. And it totally worked for me. I didn't give a flying fish to any of that but just them. And also a big thanks to all of them (tvn, producer, writer) for acknowledging KMW worth and bankability so much so that they staked that much on his first Romantic drama lead role.
I had been waiting for this, what it was seeming to become, impossible dream to come true for so long. KJW had covered all the genres. An emo brooding hot waffle-maker, a bullied and humiliated later charming gay baker, a gorgeous mute spirit/ghost second lead. a little obsessive second male lead who obviously lost the girl, a sinister psychopath and so on. This was the only one left. I had no curiosity about his acting skills. Because it's out in the open. Proven, again and again. He is brilliant and versatile but underrated.
His acting in this show and in most of his shows are so understated. he acts like he is not acting. Like that's who he is in real life. His expressions and body language are very subtle. The experience of watching this drama for me was so exhilarating. I still can't believe it happened and so sad that it's over. I love KJW and came to love him more, which I thought was not possible, after this show and the BTS.
The show was about Deok Mi and Ryan's relationship, which was mature. And they handled it so. Once they got together they did not act like teenagers but mature adults. No petty misunderstandings and quibbles. They discussed their issues. Forgave each others' blunders and accepted the oddities. Didn't make the kissing and the eventual sleeping together a big deal. No prude show. And of course there were a lot of holding hands, kissing and other lovey-dovey moments, loaded with great chemistry, because they just started dating and that's how people are when they are freshly in love. KJW and PMY's chemistry, both on and off screen, has blown away my roof. All in all the love story was more than perfect.
They promoted the show as the love story of a fangirl because it would else be just a love story. And it was, indeed, the love story of a fangirl. A fangirl who remained a fangirl till the last episode. Just the fangirling was gradually moved over by, mostly, romance and, in small doses, other life stuff. It was cliché and pretty average a story. But it felt good. The second leads and the witchy characters started out as cliché but turned around by the end. The acting was good and some were great.
I love Kim Mi Kyung and Kim Sun Young's acting in everything. Here, even though Uhm Soe Hye was a pain in the butt but she was hilarious. Especially her--"What do you think!-- to her secretary "Kim" about everything. And finally, I never thought the annoying sml/eung gi and the stalker fan-girl/cindy will become such adorable couple in the end. What a coincidence, they both were in My Only Love Song!
They probably ended it without the wedding because it would be twinning Secretary Kim if they had. PMY anyway looked like she walked out of WHWSK into this. I don't remember ever seeing any drama ending with the leads making out like that. I loved it. KJW's smile while kissing obviously called a resuscitation for me though.
It was such an emotional watch and I will miss it so much. I'll probably watch it again pretty soon.
p.s. Why on earth did they cut that kiss in the proposal scene! Why! That kiss looked totally adlib to me in the bts. Did anyone complain about too many kisses that is running outta viewing limit or something!
Park Min Young is the most stylish and best dressed k-actress ever. Even when she's in pjs her style is perfect. Otherwise, the k-dramas usually have the worst fashion for the actresses.

Me like -- "Girrl, you got taste and perception too early!"
