Broadcasters pay the drama producers for their show which means the broadcasters pay more for productions that they feel will earn high ratings (eg big stars, directors and screenwriters).

Moreover, for someone as huge as Kim Soo Hyun, ratings matter a lot. There's a lot riding on his name, fame and talent. Ratings define bankability of a star.

I could love this drama so much more if they just tone down the alcohol consumption. It's jarring as well as disturbing.

Nevertheless, I still love this drama and the lead couple a lot. Been bawling with Ha Neul almost every single time.
