it was half and half. so for viewers who find historicals too stuffy and too much, it gave a balance.
it's funny how people who are used to sageuk think the first part is too much while the others who aren't think the second part is too much. :D

well, glad to see another fan of the drama. i had serious withdrawals after it.

they really do deserve the awards, JDY said on multiple occasions how supportive she was for him and how much he learned from her, so when the cast is cooperative with each other it shows.

after the village burned things got political and real. there wasn't really that much comedy.

he really deserves a lot for the role. he sets a new goal for how actors should portray the comedy of such roles form now on.
i liked how the plot didn't go as i was expecting. sometime the writers ruin the ending only to shock the fans but this one was done nicely. it worked with the flow of the story and the character's set up, while returning to the actual history.

you should. the change in the mood in the second half makes things serious and allows a more intriguing view of the dramas.

for me extraordinary you had a big flaw. how can the ML has seriously low screen time. i was seriously offended for him.

he really does. he's a strong male lead acting as a strong feminist female. the drama had seriously emotionally mature concept for the leads, the people around them along with the relationships.

the plot and the characters are amazing. it's very refreshing with a different ending than the usual historicals.

please mark that as a spoiler, i had a hard time avoiding these while writing the article.
also, not everyone dies. we still have all the main essential characters and we meet who we need of them later on. the only one who dies graphically is the head of the gisaeng house.

it's a shame you will be missing it. but yes he really was. he pulled off the sismance and the romance. lol

i am glad you liked the history hint, sometimes i get so wrapped up in my research i confuse people.
i didn't see the ending as anticlimactic. the realization of the same birthdays and the kings final regret of losing all the years with his son and following his greed to no end were perfect. but what really sealed the deal was finally having an emotionally mature ML, he choose his love and his happiness over the power and money. he never wanted the throne when he found the truth but only wanted the relationship with his parents. it stayed to true to the core his personality about valuing people ore than money.

i like time travel done right. that's why nine and queen inhyun's are highly rated by me.
as i remember the ml was very focused all through the drama which i very much appreciated. there's romance and comedy though so be prepared.

i have been planing on writing more articles lately so her's to hoping they are good too.
i hope you love it, even if romance isn't your thing. tw dramas had a great year that year,even though they aren't as popular.
