No, I raised expectations only for the "game", not for the overall aspects in the movie/series. And it doesn't have anything to do with J-movie this or K-movie that lol. Also, I didn't know why do you tell me stuffs about ratings, and the comparison between two different country's works. My comment wasn't that deep, and I didn't even think that further to be able talking about inflating scores and competiton, etc ☺

Yes! I can understand people who found Squid Game exciting as well, and ATGW ridiculous (cause I also found its overall movie quality bad). Maybe I expected too much for what kinds of games I wanted to see in this drama. So when it's different from my expectation, I lower my rating for SG hahaha It's all about preference and other reasons that follow ^^

Yep, Squid Game took realistic rule and atgw is more focused on the game and not in the realistic side either. But to answer why I didn't find squid game's games that exciting, is because I have seen similar concept. I don't mean to compare them in terms of overall quality.

I had watched very similar theme (kids games) on some dramas, for example, As the Gods Will. So for me, it's not something new. I can understand people who feels it's new and exciting.

I feel the same as you! With the title 'squid game', I anticipated a lot of great games, and some mindblowing solution to those deathly games. But it focused more on the emotion/minor characters, it is a bit disappointing.
This feels a bit lacking if I compared it to similar survival games themed japan dramas like AiB or AtGW. The games aren't that exciting, and nothing surprised me as for the plot. However, it has great acting skills (not the VIPs ones tho), and the cameo a.k.a Gongyoo is very welcomed.
I am happy that this gets popular worldwide, and ppl found survival games genre exciting!

I agree with you. I rather want to see comment stating what's the good and not so good part in a forum rather than seeing everyone praise so high when it is just the beginning of the drama, and called it masterpiece. Negative and positive comments are helpful to decide if I am gonna invest my time on the drama or not.
This is a very wholesome drama. Everything is realistic. The issues with running away from past, SNS, being lost in what to do with our life, ambiguous relationships. All the characters can be present in our life, that brings this drama closer to our heart. Just like someone has said before, it's 2021-ish. I'm confident to recommend Kikazaru Koi to my friends who haven't watched Jdrama or who found most Jdrama outdated, cause Kikazaru Koi's directing style, the color palette used in the drama, and the vibe are modern.
As expected from the second time costars, Haruna and Ryusei! Their tiki-taka is enjoyable, and each character has a distinct lifestyle and it's easy to remember them even when we're still in episode 1. Watching this mostly for Haruna, and I really like her outfits and hairstyles so much in this drama.
Can they make Mr. Zheng retire on E31?? I can't take it anymore, the annoyance I get whenever he shows up hhhh. At first, I waited for him getting karma or smth like that, but now I just want him to leave as soon as possible. Because no matter how the writer make him redeem himself, I think I can't forgive him. It's too late -_-
