Question tho- why is Akira walking around and not in jail?
That's not how it works in reality. Well, at least in modern countries that are not the US where they put everyone in jail. It's some American obsession to put everyone in jail for every single offence but normally, jail is meant for criminals of serious crimes - like murder, robbery, rape, embezzlement, repeat offenders and so on. In other cases, there is tendency to use alternative punishments - like house arrest, parol, public work,... The criminal system is about punitive and preventive measures but also about reforming the offenders and giving them a second chance. Also, the thing is - jails are already full all over the world, barely having enough place to hold the aforementioned types of serious offenders and bulding new ones would cost money the society can't afford or that are better used for different purpose, like saving lives and educating people instead of locking them up.
Usually, if the perpetrator cooperates and is stable and shows sincere regret and there is not a danger of them continuing their criminal activity or running away, which is Kikuno's case, they are free. They just need to appear on the day of the trial. Also, she is mentally ill so she wouldn't go to jail to begin with, but to a psychiatric facility at worst. However, she is rather stable so she would be ordered therapy and a parol officer. Also, it's apparent that Hayame and Seigo feel sorry for her so they wouldn't pursue a severe punishment and would put in a good word for her. Also, it's her first offence. Therefore showing Kikuno in jail or in mental hospital wouldn't be realistic if you take all circumstances and facts into an account, which the police and the prosecutor would definitely do, but which the audience rarely does.
It's important to differentiate between some presumed ideal and, rather antiquated and medieval, sense of justice and what justice and punishment looks like in the real world. So Kikuno is not 'walking free', she is most likely having therapy and Masahiro becomes her guarantor and guardian, giving her a stable environment to heal. Because even in therapy, doctors prefer to have their patients live a free life rather than locking them up because that's the last desperate solution.
Okay, but I live in the Netherlands all my life and that's not the Netherlands I know lol.
It's all filmed in South Korea, though adjusted by special effects at times. They couldn't film overseas due to the travel restrictions and budget, as well. The Caucasian actors are all foreigners living in SK who often appear in kdramas when the need for foreigners arises in the story. All the locations have also appeared in other kdramas.
Overseas filming is something which only kdramas with huge budgets can afford, like Legend of the Blue Sea, Goblin or Crash Landing on You, which are written by star writers since they are the only stories that are a good bet as their potential gains outweight the risks.
" I am Katsuragi Hayame, I am 27 years old. I am in my 30s, divorced , broke" How is it even possible?
That's a translation mistake. She calls herself an 'arasa' which means 'almost 30'. The PC indie subs are pretty good, though, there are some mistakes here and there.
of course there has to be at least one review from a "woke" user that points out all the "problems" with the drama…
As much as I would love to have another season of PC, it's almost certain to never happen. And I would truly love to see Hayame and Issei being functional, bicker and solve their issues for another season. Moreover, I wouldn't mind watching another 10 episode of Seigo finding happiness with someone sane who would teach him how to open up more.
Jdramas have never been prone to do second seasons, except for medical and precedural shows. As for specials, I believe the only rom-com drama that got a special in the last 8 years or so has been Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu and that only mostly because the two lead actors got married. Normally, a special episode would be filmed within 12 months after the final episode airing, but this one took 5 years, pretty much confirming the TV station wanted to milk the marriage.
This was my first proper Jdrama! I loved it so much and I honestly couldn't have picked a better one. After 5…
Good for you! The jdramaland of neverending possibilities is in front of you! I, on the other hand, started to watch jdramas back in 2006 together with kdramas and twdramas so I've watched pretty much everything relevant and decent out there and the quality of them went down in the last few years, with a few exceptions. That's why Promise Cinderella has been such an amazing surprise and revelation. It has depth and certain kind of realism you wouldn't expect from it. I rarely give the 10/10 rating but this drama really goes up on my drama pedestal of all-time favourites.
The ML was attracted to her the FL but they fell for each other at a very similar pace, only the ML was faster at getting out of the denial and accepting his feelings for her.
Maybe its just me, but i think Issei's hair is getting better by the time the episode goes. I mean the first 2…
In the first two episodes, he sports a a very bratty and edgy hairstyle to showcase that he is a sort of an asshole but as he changes for the better, so does the hair as it keeps getting softer and less messy, just like Issei, to illustrate the character change. They even coloured it a shade darker than we see it in the first episodes.
So the bitch ends up with the ex-husband? or does he just help her with her luggage? i swear, this bitch
I think it's suggested that they end up together, considering Issei went to visit him in the previous episode. Moreover, in a way, they suit each other - she is a mess who needs someone to love her and he is a weak doormat who has a thing for hopeless cases and needs someone to need him and depend on him.
What a perfect ending to a perfect love story and endearing characters! It ends with Issei's promise to his Cinderella and his birthday present to her which just like his body and love for her is so big it swallows her whole, as the future is ahead of them, full of hope and possibilties.
I think it's obviously a test for Issei and his relationship with Hayame - when he is presented with the option…
Actually, there was a scene in episode 8, where basically Kikuno tried to hit on him, thinking that he doesn't love Hayame but simply has a thing for older women, but she was proven wrong by him. So since that theory is out of the window, now it's about the age difference.
so wait, whos this new girl thats been added to the drama? I hope her thing for Issei wont get in the way of him…
I think it's obviously a test for Issei and his relationship with Hayame - when he is presented with the option to date a girl his age who is nice and likes him, whether he would be tempted or stay faithful to Hayame. She is there for Issei to prove himself that he wouldn't stray, unlike Hayame's ex-husband.
Issei makes a cameo appearance in Cinderella Complex episode 5. Make sure to watch it! We see him trying hard to make that firework challenge list because he doesn't know how to ask Hayame directly on a date. He is such a precious cutie pie.

But a fan can still hope ;-)
P.S.: Love your comment about the 'woke' viewer!
- Arai Ryokan Shuzenji, Izu
- Sankeien, Yokohama
- the tea house is a studio set, especially built for the drama
"I can't date you because I love Hayame."
"I can't reciprocate your feelings. (Because of Issei?) Yes."
Roses are red, violets are blue, Issei loves Hayame and she loves him too.

Awww, Issei's been traumatized ever since he saw Seigo carry Hayame so now, he doesn't hesitate to whisk her away Issei style.
Anyway, I'll DM you the link.
