Same here.. The drama's they've released recently has been horribly insipid. I'll be watching becuase of the line up but I hope the show doesn't dissapoint.
I meant deleting our previous exchange of conversations were you resorted to personal insults for me pointing out your irrationality where love triangles and obsessive characters = Garbage, trashy drama.
LOL. Idiot for liking something? I feel sorry for you. Notice that nowhere in my previous comments have i personally insulted you or docnty, i merely stated why your comments were biased and flawed. Anyway enough time waited here, be well and grow up.
I think your comment above made it pretty clear that you have a personal hate for certain dispositional portrayals and that any drama with them = Garbage, trash etc. Bad logic is bad logic so I won't even waste time to respond to that.
Well the signals she sends is that the addition of the "love triangle" to "appeal to the masses" drags down the quality of the show as a whole, so my response was to clarify that this is not the case. Don't really care what she thinks of the drama herself, but felt the need to write something so that anyone else wondering whether to watch the show wouldn't be demotivated due to her comments.
Wow.. I could write a 10 page essay about how irrational your comments about this show is, but it's not worth my time so I’ll be quick. This show DOES NOT focus on love triangles. Yes there are two men in love with the same woman, but that is not where the story lays emphasis and neither dose it have any relevance to the plot at large. Furthermore Jung Jin Woo is a SIDE character. He is not important to the story and he probably gets the least amount of screen time out of all the more prevalent side characters in the show. Like I literally saw him less than 5 minutes throughout ep 13 - 24, and when I did it was mostly him trying to find out what past involvement his father may have had in regards to the case(don't wanna spoil). So if you honestly are to imply that this drama was buggered down due to an imaginary "love triangle" then you haven't made an attempt to seriously watch the show and merely dropped it at sight of this "terrible person" (Yes I agree he was rather selfish etc. but those are human traits and portraying them is not a flaw in writing/directing.).
And lastly @CrazyBlonde appeal to the masses, and garbage? Am I supposed to laugh lol? First of all I see "You who came to the stars" and "rooftop prince" rated high as fuck in your list, so your flawed logic that says appeal to masses = crappy drama obviously isn't one that you believe in. They both have love triangles, both a high amount of annoying generic and intrusive music that disturbs the narrative flow. They also have several "pretty faces" that can't act for shit.. Why you say? Because it appeals to the masses (You included).
Here's the interesting thing though. What Resurrection does right is that it can appeal to the masses without great expense to the quality of the story. And that's what a great drama should do. Appealing to the masses is not a flaw in itself, it depends on how it effects the story in large.
In conclusion, if the immediate appearance of the "love triangle" trope is one you hate watching for personal reasons then by all means don't watch it.. Why watch a show with content that will piss you off? But be aware that that is more a fact about your mind then about the drama itself. Utilizing a trope doesn't in itself make a drama garbage or trash and to state so is irrational as fuck.
Very good start! Fun story with good pacing, likable characters and there's room for character development. Glad that it's only 16 eps so that it doesn’t drag on like many drama's of this genre tend to do. Also I haven't seen Shin Se Kyung in any previous drama so I don't know what all the hate is about, but she's doing just fine here.
After having watched 'Resurrection' (by the same writer & producer) this drama largely fails in comparison. Mostly this is due to the acting though and not the production.
Kim Nam Gil while charismatic had a tendency to overact and pose wayy to much, and wasn't able to bring the intensity that was required in the more dramatic scenes due to him being stuck in his "Cool-introverted mindset." Yes having a good voice + looks is a plus, but if you cant merge that with making your character believable and real it's of no use.
And even worse, we have Lee Soo Hyuk... What the hell is he doing acting? Seriously his character was soo important to the series, yet all LSH did was pose? No range in his facial expressions and his voice was the same all the time.
Really that's what brought the quality down for me. Story-wise it was very good, although I felt it was slightly too long and could be cut down 5-6 eps (True for most KDramas though so I wouldn't pass that as a flaw).
All in all I'd give it a 7.2 out 10, but if you’re on the look for an excellent revenge drama, I'd definitely recommend Resurrection (2005)!
Dramania can be downloaded on a separate site (mobi24.net), however after checking the episodes are now gone from there as well :/ I have 10 eps downloaded so I could try and upload them somewhere but idk how to get my hands on the rest..
For anyone sad that Punch is ending, I highly recommend the 2012 drama "The Chaser" also written by Park Gyeong Su. Though similar in theme i'd say in terms of intensity, directing, writing and even acting, The Chaser outclasses Punch by far. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chaser_%28TV_series%29
Hmm they used to have it on subscene but it appears to be gone. However there's ann app called dramania (for android) and it has the whole show hard-subbed :) I'm only on ep 10 but i recommend it!
Oh gosh. Jang Hyuk and Shin Ha Kyun. How much better can the cast get! Haven't seen any of the director's past works but I hope this doesn't disappoint story-wise.
What I like about this drama is that it isn't centered on one character. It slowly reveals the story behind 4…
This is exactly how I feel about it. Writing is excellent, but it's a very heavy and dark exploration into human nature, which may be to much for some viewers.
Personally I can't watch more then 2 eps at a time because i'm overwhelmed by it all haha. Definitely not for everyone
