My two cents on this drama this far up to episodes 29.
Let me get this straight... Both of the leads: Shi Yan & Shu Yi lacks complete communication skills. Hence why the continuous misunderstandings happening.
1. Actually, yes Shu Yi was in the wrong in terms of approaching our main ML - Shi Yan, but it doesn't mean she didn't fall in love with him for real in the process. She did, but doesn't know how to make it clear to him, how she feels. As well, in some ways, yes I agree with the fact her so-called best friend is not any useful in their relationship stance.
2. Shu Yi was planning to come clean about her mess up that she made with Shi Yan... The truth that she was hiding from him for some time. Hence, why after some thought, she invited him to meet her at the aquarium in her hometown. But unbeknownst to her, he found out the truth from his driver indirectly and that mad him upset over her. Hence, when she tried to find out if he was coming or not, he said "I am tired of acting with you". As a result, she realized that he found out the truth from someone else. Hence, why she was shocked by it and dropped the water bottles on the ground in front of the aquarium and walked away in tears. After that he left with his niece back to the city since she (his so-called niece) was sick.
3. After this matter, she was quite at lost of what to do with her life. With her mother's advice, she decided to channel her energy elsewhere: which was her work. What Shi Yan did was nothing but getting upset over her for not responding back to him... For ignoring him. But, in actual fact, how can anybody in the right mindset react back to what he said to her. He didn't even give her a chance to explain to him or approach her about it but go off leaving her like that at the aquarium was not fair on her either.
4. Then, when she was back in the city at her work as a financial reporter, her supervisor at that time didn't realize that the two were at odds with each until the two companies special reporting project got affected by these two...

He was still upset that she didn't explain the truth to him, but if Shi Yan didn't even allow her to see him, how do you expect a girl to react on what he found out in the first place about how she actually approached him for ... their relationship?? He denies working with her ... He denies seeing her... And denies the project to proceed as normal. Of course, the first thing a girl will respond is: Come on, let me meet him. But his assistant said no. She tries to fix things that wasn't related to what happened between the two, because to her... At that point in time, she was being pressured to get the special coverage done... As for the relationship, she was going to apologize about it too. But before that happens, he misunderstood her...cause he thinks all she cares is about her work and not him. He already blocked her first... already denying the chance for allowing her to apologize to him properly.
6. Then, when she writes the email to him, part apologizing for what happen between the two of them and turning the project over to someone else in her reporting company... Can't blame her for not wanting to approach him anymore. He refuses to see her many times. Add on the fact he was the one who blocked her and then gets mad when she doesn't go find him. How can you expect someone to approach you, when what Shi Yan did to her was not a good idea in the first place? Even if you are mad, you shouldn't block someone, but to sit down and communicate the problem out and sort it out. Therefore, both are at fault in this regards. Then, he confronts his assistant for relationship advice. Sorry, but his assistant is of no use either. He advices make Shi Yan more angry than to calm down and think it through properly.
7. When Shi Yan is upset, he forces his niece not to work with Shu Yi anymore. Now that doesn't make sense either?!? Just because you two are not working out anymore on your relationship.. Doesn't mean that you have to take it out on others too and affect their careers too. Doesn't make sense at all.
8. Yu You tries to find out the problem between the two leads because it also affects his progress in his relationship with Qin Sui Yue. He does advise to Shu Yi to make changes in her approach with Shi Yan to make the relationship work... After Shu Yi explained the problem to him. But of course, it doesn't work. At the charity gala the sort of caught each other off guard... Because Shu Yi shows up with Yi Yang who was considering trying to win Shu Yi's heart... But of course this leads to misunderstanding between the two main leads again. On top of that Shi Yan's ex-gf shows up in front of Shu Yi. This leads to another misunderstanding between the two again. This time Shu Yi thinks that she has no more chances to get back together with Shi Yan.... And allowed herself to be dragged away from the party indoors to outdoors to drink her sorrows away.

While on the other hand, we see that in fact Shi Yan didn't get back with her; refuses her and goes after Shu Yi...gets mad at Shui Yi when he finds her climbing the tree drunk with Yi Yang and allows her to bite him in the neck while she was completely drunk and wasted... Tries to confronts her about her feelings for her when she's drunk and about to blackout doesn't help the situation either. Another surprising move was the fact that he actually took her home and left. He didn't even leave any clues to her that it was him, who sent her home on the night she was drunk. But instead the next day he was at work and gets mad at her for why she hasn't reacted to what he did for her. I mean dude, a girl can't remember or think straight when being drunk/wasted/blackout completely. That's why when she was frantically trying to figure out how she got home. She couldn't ask Shi Yan about it because he still hasn't unblock her yet. Yet again he gets mad at why she didn't contact him of the previous night's incident. Like dude, you haven't unblocked her or message her how's she doing after a night of completely blacking out. Who in the right mind can remember that stuff. In reality I bet not many of you guys can do so .
10. So, as a result she asks Yi Yang to provide her the details of what happened that night she was drunk. But of course he's unwilling to tell her unless she agrees to meet up with him to find out the truth of the night she was drunk, because who else can clarify this matter ?? Anyways... Yi Yang has feelings for her... How it will play out is another matter.
11. As for Shui Yi's friend.... She should meddle into someone's else's relationship. Especially between Shui Yi and Shi Yan. Mind your own business.
12. These two leads needs to communicate more directly, honestly and cleanly about everything. Each of them lacks any proper communication skills...and doesn't help when both of them block each other off.
How will the rest of the drama proceed or move on takes two to tango and work it out properly. Well that's my take on everything that I have on this drama this far. *Peace out* Enjoy at your own risk. Please don't bash me of this all... It's just what I observed and saw in this drama here
Interesting to find out that Simon Gong and Miles Wei are in the same drama again! 😅💞 Plus Yang Mi being in it too plus many more! Can't wait to watch it.

My guess from the original trailers -- that Li ni does end up on the throne possibly -- but he hates it to pieces - cause he feels like he will forever remain caged into the palace - a place he have never loved/care for... as for whether or not the 2 will end up together is another matter. I mean he does take back his mother's bead from her and return her hair charm back to her. Looks like a break up between the 2 before he's being attacked by other people...as well... it also looks like there's a chance he'll be on the verge of death - before she realizes her mistakes too. Both sides -- will be full of regrets eventually.
just like i thought if he did not take throne , many people want to kill him because he is a threat ....
It's not like he wants to take the throne anyways -- his father and his brothers never wanted him to be in that position at all. When the ML wanted his dead mom to have recognition/status - his so-called father never gave it to her at all. He was then grounded - never to leave his residency for a long time. Whenever there's a battle - he's made to fight -- but his brothers get jealous and wants all the credits whenever he wins the battle for anything. He's basically being used by everyone -- hence why he never wants to take the throne ever -- and wants to live a peace invisible life. He doesn't care about the crap of these stuff - but then again, if he doesn't take the throne - you're right -- ppl left & right wants him dead. As for the FL - I partially agree with her and the other part I agree with her. In some ways -- she doesn't completely understand him at all. All he wants is a carefree life uncaged - feel the freedom. But at the same time, I get her - if he doesn't take the throne now for the time being until the great grandson of the past king to get to an adult age -- this great grandson --> king in true lineage of royalty may not survive -- cause he needs protection at the moment - cause he still too young to rule the kingdom. Hence why now the conflict b/w the 2 leads -- they don't completely see eye to eye on things/onlook in life. Whether or not their relationship will be intact at the end of this drama/story -- we don't know for sure yet. But the latest trailers (up to ep 30) doesn't look good at all for the main ML at the moment -- I wonder if the main FL will regret her decisions later on in the story??
