on a further investigation (that investigation being me watching few episodes and trying to compare what was cut off) i think its better to watch the original version as opposed to special edition (SE) even if you have seen the anime my reasoning is as follows: 1) even if this cut focuses more on WWX x LWJs relationship, some of their scenes are also cut short(er), there are handful of their scenes that are possibly a few seconds longer but its not worth of the loss of some of the smaller scenes from the og 2) the story cut is kinda confusing. like... im wathcign the special edition now instead of rewatching the original version but i think i would rather fastforward scenes of the OG that im not interested in and get the gist of that is happening, than some of this choppy editing in SE. (that being said, SE does cut out many side-character scenes and cringy stuff.. but idk i think it was part of the charm of the OG ver.) (here is the comparison vid of different versions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Znr1cxWHw1E) 3) the only pros (which im not really sure are of that big of an importance) are probably some more "daring" translations ( but since you know there is a subtext even with the usual translation i think its whateve)r. the other is the ending scene of the whole drama where are wwx and lwj shown leaving together rather than splitting up. but yeah, these are my two cents to this :D
some more to add: Romance of tiger and rose (arranged marriage; the guy gets married into FL's family) Legend of Yun Xi (arranged marriage) 100 days my prince (fake marriage, but the guy has amnesia so he doesnt realize)
i seem to have some inner beef with this ip. the anime left me... bored with thedraggy pacing and annoyed at characters. this live action was, on the other hand, very enjoyable, but i did feel like it was sometimes going too fast or the sequence of events felt too abrupt. anyways, the CGI was great, Watanabe Keisuke is shockingly hot, Imada *Mio was perfectly casted. if there is pt 2 of the live-action, i will watch it
i had to put this movie indefinitely on hold. i love the first half, i enjoy everything.... and i know where this is heading and i cannot handle it. its been months since i watched the first half and im still not over it
I haven't watched the original 50 episodes. Do I need to watch them first or can I jump right into the Special…
unless you have read the novel, i think it is better to watch the original version. this version cuts down many of the expanding scenes and makes the editing a bit more focused on WWX and LWJ but as it leaves out some of the politics and side-reveals, it might be confusing if you are not familiar with the story.
iˇm 5 episodes in and i still cant figure out where is this drama really heading. like... at first it was like "the dude is haunted and she get book with spells" so i was like mh okay its supernatural, i guess? ghosts and whatnot? Past life connection...? and then its like "hes cured of his curse (?) but the magic potion is in action" and i was like.. confused with the comedy that is admitedly more funny than the cringe i expected. but then suddenly the 3rd male lead is living downstairs and the main leads are like.. (pretending) to not be into each other despite being bound by destiny or whater and we are entering the love triangle era with crazy not-really-fiance (and also possibly upcoming stalker/sus guy?). its like the writer is doing kdrama tropes bingo
it doesnt really help that female lead is the only character with more than 2 personality traits. i cant seem to wrap my head around agenda of any other character in this. its confusing.
look at me, usually im complaining for dramas being too predictable. but then i complain the same when the drama is not predictable. geez...
So many people disliking this drama (and i get it, its definitely not the greatest drama of all time) but its been 6 years and i still get back to this for a few episodes here and there. one of my guilty pleasures hehe (and female leads hairstyle is cute! whats your issue, guys :O)
my reasoning is as follows:
1) even if this cut focuses more on WWX x LWJs relationship, some of their scenes are also cut short(er), there are handful of their scenes that are possibly a few seconds longer but its not worth of the loss of some of the smaller scenes from the og
