its called selective mutism not commitment
I beg you to please learn what "SELECTIVE mutism" is before saying such things. It is a type of anxiety disorder that often presents in childhood where people develop a phobia of talking to certain people or in certain situations. Its already well established that Hee Joo has a fear of speaking because of her mother's abuse and her home life. Even though her sister was trying to encourage her to speak again, its not an easy decision. She's only been shown capable of speaking to her 1) senile father, 2) to her husband when using a voice modulator, 3) when she's under extreme stress.

Have to agree. There were so many chances in the last eps to turn the plot in some more interesting directions,…
Exactly! All of Do Do Hee's character development went down the toilet. I stuck it out with this drama because I appreciated how ruthless she was. She knew what Jeong Gu Won was and what he DID - she was there when he made that deal with the woman whose daughter was dying of leukaemia - but she still used his powers to her benefit. She knew what he was long before she fell in love with him. But now she's in a moral quandry? Because his existence as a devil affected her parents' fate? I think having her Dad make a deal with JGW is such a contrived ass pull. We already have the two of them being in an ill fated relationship in their past lives. I wish the tragedy that was about to come was just straightforward murder atp. I really thought JGW and Do Do Hee were gonna go and kill "Go(o)d" -- free JGW from his cruel punishment and break the cycle of fate. The show is clearly not endorsing any singular religion, even though the Catholic iconography is most present throughout, and Go(o)d even mocks and belittles humans for their self-imposed belief in her. So why not have them fight against all odds to get their freedom and love. Now we gotta throw in this dumb ass plot device to separate the characters via noble idiocy and by making Do Do Hee agentless and powerless. She's just a victim of what the plot throws at her now. So frustrating. Good thing there's only two episodes left, but I know the ending is gonna be ASS. Btw, read Devil No 4. My Demon is riffing off a lot of the stuff from Devil No 4 but the writing and deconstruction of the Abrahamic belief system >>>>>>>>>>>>>

This drama isn't difficult to understand. You're missing what I'm saying. Characters make decisions that aren't in line with the progress of their previously established development and personality. They're behaving this way because the plot FORCES them to do, which is why they come across as stupid. Especially Do Do Hee. She's been behaving mad stupid these past few episodes and not even her grief or anger can justify it. Also, everyone else is making decisions FOR her at the moment, and she's lost agency as a character. Just sitting there waiting for whatever the plot throws at her. It makes her passive in a story where she was once very active. Jeong Gu Won is behaving less stupidly, but the way he's suddenly resigned himself to letting her go despite literally fighting against the jaws of death to save himself and Do Hee, a few episodes prior, is bad writing. Where's all that momentum suddenly gone? That passion? That drive? He's taken three steps back character development wise just so we can see the rehashing of the tired noble idiot trope for the thousandth time. Do Do Hee's and Jeong Gu Won's joint attitude of throwing caution to the wind and doing anything it takes to survive (and later be together) was what made this mostly patchily written soap opera entertaining. Now they've dropped the ball on the best part of a very mediocre show. Its a good thing its wrapping up in two episodes, but the ending is guaranteed to be unsatisfactory and unnecessarily ambiguous because of the direction the writing took.

This drama is nosediving towards a deus ex machina ending because the writer wrote themselves into a corner. There was a myriad of ways to solve everything without going down this direction. Lack of creative vision forreal, but I can't look away from this car crash.

Thank you for the most useless, shameless and lazy comment ever. Bro the series got more famous than u sorry no…
Why do people like you get so angry when others make valid criticism on media, art, literature, etc? Criticism like this is important because it helps us recognise good art from bad media that's only made to turn a profit. Media literacy is so dead omfg.

Yes, I know. But its not written well. A lot of the characters' actions don't fit with their character development or personality. Its just there for plot contrivance because the writer isn't skilled enough to convey the story without relying heavily on overused tropes.

I wholeheartedly agree with this review. Why did they change the remaining episodes because of Saron's DUI? I…
I think its because production hadn't wrapped on the series when the accident happened. So they fired from the show which left an entire major story thread unable to be finished. And then they pulled the ending out of their asses.

It's not uncommon for kdramas, though. I guess here it makes sense since ML used to be a cop and SML is a cop.
Just because its common it doesn't make it acceptable, especially when the execution is SO poor. Also, the ML being a cop had such a terrible set-up. The foreshadowing in this series is so poor and it feels like the writers were just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.

The writing is terrible. Truly nothing going for it. Watching this feels like I suffered whiplash from a car accident. The way we jump from romantic comedy to past lives fantasy to serial killer mystery is SO disjointed. Feels like too many cooks in the kitchen. Also, the marketing is super misleading because nothing in the trailers indicated that there'd be so much fucking murder lol. Yet, I watch for MY MAN Jang Dong Yoon and MY WIFE Nana.

It started off great, a nice light watch but the story delves deeper into the politics and becomes more serious.…
Its because the King and Prince were real people. They can't just kill off real historical figures like that.

The body count in this series is insane lol
RIGHT. ONLY FOUR EPISODES IN AND SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED. I really dislike this flippant death count squished into a romantic comedy. Its tonally disjointed and feels like it'll be the drama's biggest detriment,
On My Man Is Cupid Dec 4, 2023
Marketed terribly. The trailers and posters don't suggest that 5 people will be dead before episode 2 has even finished. The script is all over the place with the story threads being poorly introduced with no attempt at keeping the tone consistent. Nana is barely in the first two episodes because there's such a huge chunk of time dedicated to making this a crime thriller. Feels like too many cooks in the kitchen and a waste of the leading couples obvious chemistry.
